Member since: 7/5/2007 | | All In The Family | Brian, I was very glad to hear on the Stu raio interview that Shout! will be releasing season 7 of All In The Family. I know you probably can't give any details but I'm hoping there will be some type of bonus features considering how Sony screwed the fans with their Norman Lear set. Also, I know you probably cna't answer this, but does the deal include Archie Bunker's Place as well? I can't wait for details on this. This is truly great news and I'm hoping you guys will also get The Jeffersons at some point (if you haven't already).
Please bring "Starman" the 1986-87 tv series, Silver Spoons seasons 2 & beyond and Jennifer Slept Here to DVD. |

Thanks for listening to the show. It was a real treat and a lot of fun to hang out with the LITB gang!

Member since: 7/5/2007 | | RE: All In The Family | Judging from the cover art I saw on tvshowsondvd & amazon, it seems it will be the slim amarary cases. I'm glad. I presume they won't be like the Sony's ones that just have the 3 discs ont op of each other. Although they save in space, they're more of a pain and could possibly damage the discs.
Also for anyone interested in catching up with the first 6 seasons, Best Buy has them on sale for $15 each. I'll probably be picking up seasons 5 & 6 which I don't have so I'll be up to date when S7 comes in Oct. Can't wait. Thanks again Shout!

Here are some suggestions for bonus features:
episodes of "Gloria" (spin-off)
Pilot episodes (that were not included on any previous season sets)
New Interviews with surviving cast members (this season Liz Torres would be great for an interview)
Just a few ideas. Can't wait to see the finished product. |

Member since: 7/21/2010 | | RE: All In The Family | Dear Friends
I'm absolutely thrilled to have more All in the Family on DVD. Other than watching Barney with my two-year-old son, All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place are the only TV programs I watch.
My wife and I have been watching All in the Family nearly every night at bedtime for eleven years. First we tuned into Nickelodeon every night, then we bought a TiVo to record the shows, and then Becky gave me Seasons 1-6 on DVD as a birthday present. Now we have Season 7 pre-ordered at Amazon. We recently bought a Western Digital media player (the Mini for US$35) so we could bundle up all of our All in the Family DVDs onto a hard disk drive and not even have to swap discs any longer. (By the way, the little player will not play compressed video files properly. The audio and video are woefully out of sync. However, the player will read VIDEO_TS folders. This means the quality is as good as you'll see on a DVD player, but you have to invest in more storage space. Seasons 1-6 consume 128GB of disk space with all of the extra files included. High-quality H.264-encoded files consume about half as much space but will not play on our player.)
Please, please, please, for the love of all that is good and holy in this world, offer us Seasons 8 and 9 on DVD, too!
Thank you so very much for breathing new life into Season 7!
I cannot tell you how much I love All in the Family. Therefore, I'm unable to express the depth of my appreciation for Shout! Factory's bringing out Season 7 (and hopefully the final two seasons, too).
Thank you in the extreme, Shout! Factory!
Sparkle, those are fantastic ideas! I hope Shout! Factory is handsomely rewarded for finishing what Sony Pictures started. I didn't know Gloria got her own show, and I consider myself an All in the Family expert.

Member since: 7/5/2007 | | RE: All In The Family | So any word on any bonus features? If I may make a suggestion, if you guys release the final season of AITF and can't or won't release season 2 & beyond of Archie Bunker's Place, please consider adding the first episode of season two as a bonus episode somewhere. Although APB isn't AITF, it is a continuation and AITF fans should get a chance to own the famous episode in which Archie comes to terms with Edith's death.

Member since: 9/21/2007 | | RE: All In The Family | I've been wondering about what bonus features Season 7 will have.
I think the suggestion for including the episode of Edith's death on Season 9 is a great one...except that I would hope Shout would continue with "Archie Bunker's Place". I still loved watching the series even though it was drastically different from AITF. In fact, Season 2 was very good showing Archie in a different way than ever before.
Please consider it Shout. This could be a huge series release for you if done the right way with the right bonus features. Including "Gloria" episodes from the spin-off would also be fantastic!! |

Member since: 1/12/2007 | | RE: All In The Family | Due to the lack of bonus material on previous releases, I'm told by the set's producer there will be none on this volume. This allows us to do a more comprehensive set of bonus features on the final volume, rather than throw your collection out of whack.

Member since: 7/5/2007 | | RE: All In The Family | Brian, you certainly have an interesting way of putting your spin on things. I will now hold you to your word that there will be a comprehensive set of bonus features on the final volume. If no such bonus features are forthcoming, you and the set's producer will have much to answer for You certainly wouldn't want legions of fans marching up to your office and banging down your doors demanding bonus material would ya
I agree that it would be nice if Shout! could complete Archie Bunker's Place as well, but I think it's more important they try to go after and complete The Jeffersons first. Even if they do continue on with ABP I think it would be wise to put the episode dealing with Edith's death as a bonus on AITF season 9.

Member since: 9/21/2007 | | RE: All In The Family | I'm happy to have the next season without bonus features as long as the quality of the episodes is good. Sony didn't do the best job on their sets.
BUT... I am hoping beyond hope that episodes of "Gloria" make their way onto Season 9. Then, possibly continued for seasons of "Archie Bunker's Place". I do, however, think that no bonus features on Season 7 is a missed opportunity. There must be nothing available. Otherwise, I'm sure Shout would have included something. |

As for Archie Bunker's Place, I guess it all depends on how well these last volumes of All In The Family do. Typically, each season declines in the number of sales and spin-offs are included. After all, odds are that if you don't own the complete series that came before it, you probably won't rush out to buy the series that came afterward. So if these remaining sets do well enough that we can calculate a profit while still factoring in a significant drop-off, I'm sure it's something we'll consider.

Member since: 7/5/2007 | | RE: All In The Family | But Brian, you are the voice of Shout! here lol j/k
Seriously though, Sony screwed the fans of AITF with their Norman Lear Collection by including the two alternate pilots and interviews with Lear & Rob Reiner. You guys should try to make it up to us fans with extensive bonus features on the final season. If you could include the extras Sony did on their Normal Lear Collection that would indeed be fantastic. If not, many fans would love to see interviews with Rob Reiner, Jean Stapleton, Sally Struthers and whoever else you can get. This is a historical landmark show and deserves sometime of special treatment before its last season in released on DVD. I think the last three seasons will do well for Shout! Also please take my suggestion about including ABP season 2 first episode, or at the very least clips of it, deal with Edith's death. I've never seen the episode.
Now if you guys could PLEASE pick up The Jeffersons!

Member since: 10/10/2009 | | RE: All In The Family | | I was just going to say, the second season of Archie Bunker's Place opens with Edith Bunker having passed away, and the last scene of the first episode, Archie pulls a slipper of Edith's from under the bed, and breaks down. A very emotional moment in sit-com history, and needs to be on dvd! |
