Any retro cartoon releases planned for this year?
Are there any more retro cartoon releases planned for this year either via regular retail release or the Shout! Select program? With relationships with Hasbro, Marvel, and WB, and also a few DIC titles still under your control, I was wondering if we would be seeing some down the road.  thanks.

RE: Any retro cartoon releases planned for this year?
Well, our relationship with Warner Bros. doesn't involve any animated titles, so far, and our relationship with Hasbro is currently limited to what we've already released with a single My Little Pony movie and the complete series of Transformers and G.I. Joe.  We definitely have more Madeline in the wings.  But I don't think that's what you're talking about.

No.  I realize your relationship with some of those companies is kind of just starting, but was wondering if any new deals for other 1980-ish cartoon shows were done, in development, or being looked into.  Plus, I was wondering the status of any of the DIC shows...

Perhaps one day, Warner Bros. will license some animated titles!

There's nothing on the immediate schedule, but there are definitely some possibilities.  Just can't openly discuss them at the moment.

RE: Any retro cartoon releases planned for this year?

Warner Archive has announced via their Twitter feed that the Saturday morning cartoon series Pirates of Dark Water will be released on DVD on August 31, 2010, with pre-orders accepted starting Thursday or Friday.  These DVDs will be burned on demand with no bonus features.

In addition, the series Thundarr the Barbarian and Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space are also expected on Warner Archive DVDs in late September, with the official announcement coming when they are available for pre-order along with "appox. 5 other genre titles.

Maybe some cartoons that were unreleashed in the past, will follow next!

Fingers crossed.
