Hello everyone (especially to all my Canadian friends).  I would love to see the show Danger Bay on DVD.  I am hoping that independent companies like Shout! Factory, VEI or Lionsgate can obtain the rights to this wonder TV show.  It originally aired from 1985 to 1990 (some say 1984 to 1989) but I digress.  CBC aired it in Canada and the Disney Channel aired it in the United States of America.  It seems to me that CBC does not want to release this on DVD.  I am hoping one day it will be released and that the original cast could do some commentary.  Just a thought.  I would love to hear from you all.

Brian, is there any chance you can look into CBC's "Danger Bay"?  I've already replied to Piccolomaster in another thread that I've been communicating to one independent that has directly expressed genuine interest in the show, and passed along an update to their programming team about two months ago. (They specialize in both British and Canadian releases and like Shout they're a well respected company and will do it justice.)  But I hope in the end, either you guys or the one I've been contacting with can get the rights.  I also would like to see the original cast (and crew) brought in for commentary, some of the CBC promos again (like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6f3e59WxwA) and I don't remember if there ever was a documentary (or part of) that showed the filming at the Vancouver Aquarium (which was featured prominently throughout much of the series) in the mid to late 80s and how it served as the backdrop; but it would be neat to see a newly-produced featurette that explores this.

Thank you very much macphoen for bringing attention to this wonderful TV Series.  Thank you Brian Ward for looking into it.  Hopefully we will hear a response soon.  Danger Bay is truly a Canadian gem.  Any independent companies please consider releasing this wonderful TV series asap.

Thank you again Brian for responding to both this thread (especially, as it is my most wanted) and the one for Jeff Goldblum's TV-adaptation of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  I'm also bringing this up for mystro88 and other fans of The Beachcombers, which has been running on American Life Network.  Perhaps they'll pick up Danger Bay, too, and add it to their schedule.  This would be more fitting than what they currently have, than say Flipper.

Eric, to my knowledge, this is not coming from Time Life nor have I been communicating to them about this series.  It's an interesting suggestion, though, I'll grant you that.

The folks at Shout! Factory, this individual has done similar shenanigans on Home Theater Forum several days ago.

Can't Wait For Time Life With The Complete Series!!!

I was told it doesn't look like "Danger Bay" is something they'll be licensing at this time and it was because of my other emails that their programming team looked into the series.  I have to say I have never been more pleased -- they have been gracious with their time and very welcoming to my suggestion.

Sorry I couldn't have shared with you that we were a bit closer to a commercial DVD release.  So the ball, as they say, is in Shout's court.  Not trying to put pressure on you guys.

I have a feeling this will take a bit longer.  There was nothing at all when I inquired (via Twitter) late last year.  I've done all I can, but I'll make a point of asking Cliff on HTF in a year's time.  I might even check on another Canadian-produced series, Flash Forward; we're on pins and needles over on that thread, or on the verge of a collapse.
