I was the first to complain about season1 of Rhoda having edited episodes and the bad picture quailty, but season2 of Rhoda is excellent and I've just ordered season3.
Is there any chance of Shout re-releasing Rhoda season1 complete and remastered? and I hope Phyllis with Cloris Leachman is considered for a DVD release. |

Thanks for the quick reply,I'm in the UK,the amount of people here, who ask where did I get Rhoda on DVD!
I invested in a multi regional DVD player,to enjoy The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda.
If you released Rhoda on region2 format in the UK,it would sell very well.

Will it just be season 4, or a combined season 4 and 5 to finish the show off, since S5 was only 13 episodes?
Granted, that would make the set bigger, and more expensive, but it would finish off the series and no one could complain about not having a chance to own the whole series. |

BTW... I love the name. I'm a HUGE Monkees fan. So anytime I read "Peter Tork," it puts a smile on my face.

It's a bit of a bummer to hear the whole series won't be completed with the next release, but hopefully S4 will do well enough to get S5 in a decent amount of time. And, with a smaller set, that hopefully either means a cheaper set, or extras for S5.
Would it be logical to assume that Rhoda S4 will be coming around the time that the final season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show is released in early October? Or has the timetable not been worked out for the S4 release yet? |

Member since: 11/22/2009 | | RE: Rhoda | WTF!? Why does Rhoda have to go to (the cursed) Shout! Select? I live in Thunder Bay Ontario and the sales of Rhoda have been great (especially for a small town). That's a huge bummer, I loved having the convience of going to Wal Mart and getting them or going to HMV and placing a "special order" in for it. Is Shout! going to turn into a Shout! Select DVD store now? Seems everything is going to that. I was always surprised that MPI never went to MOD DVDs for I never thought their DVDs sold that well (I did buy EVERY Lucy, Doris realease they put out tho :p) Oh well tho, I guess I won't get to see Rhoda Season 4 or 5.

Member since: 7/8/2010 | | RE: Rhoda | | Brian, Glad to read that Rhoda season 4 is coming out on DVD. Can Shout Factory please put out Phyllis Seasons 1 & 2? That show was hysterical! I'm a fan of Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda & Phyllis, but I really think "Phyllis" had the funniest, most biting humor and really deserves a DVD release. Also, Cloris Leachman has kept a high profile and has been in the news a lot the past couple years, with her run on Dancing With the Stars (or one of those dance shows). Didn't she win - or come close to winning? At any rate, she's still in the press, and now would be a great time to release "Phyllis". Is Shout Factory planning to release it? |

Member since: 7/8/2010 | | RE: Rhoda | Hello Brian,
Why is Shout! not planning to sell Rhoda - Season 4 in stores ??? I mean, there are only 2 seasons left, why are they choosing to sell via Shout! Select !! I'm getting frustrated with this online shopping, now record stores are slowly closing their doors because of digital downloading!! It doesn't make any sense! This has nothing to do with technology, it's just a lazy, fat-ass world sitting at their computers 24/7 and downloading and ordering online!! And not everybody has a credit card to order online ! Whatever happened to giving consumers a second option ?? It's a drag to order online, because you have to wait a few days or even a week before you receive the item, and whereas it just takes you 5 minutes to go to the store and purchase it! I don't understand this world anymore!! |

Member since: 6/25/2010 | | RE: Rhoda | If stores don't stock box sets because the sets don't sell well for them, and they would rather devote their space to something else, that makes it difficult to go down to the store and buy it, now doesn't it?
I used to buy all of my DVD sets from actual stores. Then, the stores stopped carrying what I wanted. So, it became easier to order the sets from somewhere like Amazon, and still have the sets the day they're released.
It isn't Shout not giving the customer an option... it's the big box stores not giving the customers an option. |

Member since: 1/12/2007 | | RE: Rhoda | Moe, I think you may be misunderstanding. We're not selling it digitally. We're selling the set online. And we're doing it because retailers don't think you want it and aren't ordering it. Check the local brick 'n' mortar and you'll find a considerably SMALL selection of retro titles on DVD. When folks like Best Buy, Target and Wal-Mart say "no thanks" to subsequent volumes, but we know you want 'em, we make them available any way we can. In this case, it's via Shoutfactory.com, Amazon and eBay.

Member since: 7/8/2010 | | RE: Rhoda | | Thank you for your quick response, Brian. As you mentioned, it is true that stores are ordering retro titles less nowadays and I'm glad that Shout! will make them available to us any way you can. Thank you for releasing the Rhoda sets, I just purchased Season 3 on its release day (July 6) and it's GREAT !! I'm looking forward the last 2 seasons !! |

Member since: 5/12/2009 | | RE: Rhoda | Considering how easy it is to buy things via the web now (generally speaking), I'm not surprised the brick-n-mortar outfits are passing on this stuff. What does surprise me is that they still stock as much as they do, but that's probably a subject for a different thread.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the S3 set. It's like I've either died and gone to HD Transfer Heaven, or maybe it's like finally slipping on a pair of prescription glasses after having spent years living with blurred vision. Until watching it on disc 1, I never realized that David Groh's eyes became increasingly red during the "I'm outta here" scenes in that first episode ("The Separation"). And for the first time ever, I noticed some nuances to Nancy Walker's performance in the final two scenes as well. It's been several years since I watched that episode and actually got choked up.
It would seem that a sharper, more crisp picture does make a world of diffference.
SO FREAKIN' COOL!
Thanks again for popping these disc sets out with the revised approach. |

Extras were asked about, and I forgot if I asked this, but any chance we'll see the Carlton the Doorman cartoon on S4 or 5? (I guess Fox has it too as part of the MTM library? Or does it belong to whatever animation studio did it? Anyway, since S5 is truncated, there'd be lots of room for the cartoon, no?) |
