Will the episodes be restored to full length like season 2? |

And I guess this is my follow up question for Brian Ward after whether or not the episodes will be full length - if you folks do indeed plan to release the rest of the series, will seasons 4 and 5 be combined in one set (since S5 was shortened thanks to mid season cancellation)?

I have a technical question. Episodes 10 and 13 for S3 have an alternate opening theme song, compared to the other episodes. The last thing in the world I'd want to do is put something out you'd be unhappy with or replace something that was intentionally changed for those episodes. Does anyone have any knowledge of these two episodes having had alternate theme songs?
Thanks!

Can't speak for anyone else, but it would be cool to hear that alternate lil' sucker again. |

I just checked both my DVD copy and OLD VHS copy of the episodes as they are from two different sources. The copies I have are both different opening themes.
Thanks for taking the time to do the seasons right. You guys are AMAZING!! The next few months are going to be great picking up Rhoda on Tuesday, Simon & Simon. The Facts of Life, Thirtysomething, and more Rhoda! Please keep them coming! I am hoping you will put The Facts of Life out just as fast as Rhoda!
Keep up the GREAT work!

Would be nice as a bonus feature or maybe list in the psiode guide under those two episodes that per the masters given, it contains different theme music but is included on set as part of possible history? Or something.... I just ran out during my lunch break and purchase Season 2 of RHODA. I am really excited. too bad SHOUT can't go back and re-do Season 1 I realize it could be costly but I'd pay 50.00 for a uncut set.
Otherwise I am just grateful to have the eps uncut on Season 2. I am excited for Season 3. Would be nice if Harper and Kavner would do something like a sit down interview esp a nice hour long one discussing the show and the memories of the cast etc. That would be cool.
Best thing about RHODA is the brilliant cast, and times have changed but great comedy writing never ages. |

My eyes and ears are melting at how crisp and clear these episodes are, plus there are scenes and bits of dialog I've never seen before. This is fantastic. Thanks to everyone who made this happen!
Still curious to know if season 3 (and beyond?) will include HD remastered and restored episodes as well. |

Or it could have been like The Lucy Show when in Season 5 an few episodes aired with an diffrent pinball opening and since Lucy hated it, they went back to the kelidoscope. I hope that was some help but I'm not sure. Thanks for the high quality Rhoda Season 3!!!!!

Don't get me wrong it's an halarious season and everytyhing but I think the writers took too much time on Rhoda's divorce. I think it would have been better if he sort of just vanished like the kids from The Lucy Show or Chuck from Happy Days. Just me though, |

I just finished watching Rhoda Season 2......you all did a great job!!!! Video and sound were exactly that....crisp and clear!!! Thank you so much. I just wanted to make a suggestion on the future season sets. I realize the cost and expense it would be to redo the Season One set.....I was just wondering if you might consider reprising the "Pilot" episode with the missing Mary Tyler Moore segment. I thought maybe this could be a Bonus/Special Feature. Just an idea....Keep them coming.....you guys are doing a terrific job!!!! See if you can get the rights to "Knots Landing", "Drew Carey Show" and "Alice" (starring Linda Lavin). Thanks again!!!! |

Thanks so much for Season 3. Just so shocked that ratings dropped so badly for season 3-5 when the series was on tv. I hope to be able to purchase all the seasons. :-)
I still need to place that online order for Small Wonder season 2 also. |

Great job with Season 3! Just fisnished Disc1, and it looks amazing! Fantastic news about Season 4 too! I just hope it isn't too far in the year for it to be released.
Since there aren't many episodes in Season 5, any chance you can restore the edited episodes from Season 1 and add them on? It would be great to have the full episodes of this series.
Again, thanks for all your hard work on this series, and for releasing it too! You guys are amazing!
Bob
P.S. Any news on more seasons of Facts of Life? |

But I have been watching for reviews and one just posted today on Sitcoms Online made no mention if the episodes are once again unedited on Season Three. Brian, could you clear this up? Thanks. |

Member since: 7/8/2010 | | RE: Rhoda season 3 (questions for B. Ward) | There's been talk here about wanting a re-release of Season 1 (the unedited episodes) after Season 5 is released. Brian, if you don't mind me asking, I've never been quite clear as to why the unedited Season 1 episodes couldn't be found for Rhoda's Season 1 release, but the unedited versions for Seasons 2-4 were easily found and used. I would assume that all seasons would be owned by the same party and stored in the same place. But clearly, Shout Factory couldn't get the unedited Season 1 episodes from its owner. In terms of re-releasing Season 1 unedited, have those versions of the episodes even been found? If you could fill us in on the story behind all this - and the status of the unedited Season 1 episodes (have they all been found?), that would really be wonderful.
Hey, I just found your board today and find it really terrific and very informative. Brian, it's so nice to get the straight feedback from the person who's in the know. Also, I haven't received my Rhoda Ssn 3 in the mail yet, but did you end up using the alternate rare opening theme song that was originally aired in Episodes 10 & 13? I sure hope so!
My favorite Rhoda theme song was the one they used starting in Season 4, I believe. The one with the children singing "la la la la..." |

Member since: 1/12/2007 | | RE: Rhoda season 3 (questions for B. Ward) | Ah, the Rhoda S1 "incident." I'm not exactly sure how to answer this. Primarily because it's kind of a mystery. Initially, we were provided with masters that weren't in very good condition, most of which appeared to be Digibeta transfers from old 1" tapes. Believe it or not, there were a handful that were rejected and replaced with better versions. At the time, we were told this is all that existed. What you see is literally what we could get and with a looming deadline, we did everything we could.
Later, we decided we absolutely wouldn't do S2 unless we could do it right. We made some calls and discovered that the original films had mysteriously appeared (presumably from a bunker somewhere in the middle of the country) and were already in the process of being re-transferred, most likely for broadcast later. So, it was decided that we'd wait for those. And, again, what you see is what we got.
There has been talk on the forums, mostly from disgruntled fans, about us redoing S1. I can't make that promise at all. But who knows?
Hope that helps!
Brian

Member since: 7/8/2010 | | RE: Rhoda season 3 (questions for B. Ward) | | -That does help. It explains what happened and why it happened the way it did. But what it doesn't answer - and I hope you can answer this - has it at least been determined if this bunker also contained the unedited Season 1 shows? If it did, at least there's the possible chance. If the bunker didn't contain unedited Season 1, I'd say there's close to a 0% chance of ever seeing them. Please let us know, Brian. Thanks. |
