Warner Bros Cartoons
Hey Brian since you guys are going to work with Warner Bros on Max Headroom do you think there would be a chance they would be open to letting you guys release some of their animated series but do it right. For example Thundercats, Silverhawks, Smurfs etc. Unlike their attempted releases we all know you guys would do one heck of a good job on masters and extras. I am praying for better Thundercats, Silverhawks and Smurfs sets. Seeing as how incredible a job you guys did with Transformers and G.I. Joe they should give you guys a shot. Would there be any chance Brian? Help us Obi-Brinobi you are our only hope.

RE: Warner Bros Cartoons
I specifically want to point out Brian, that this year is the 25th Anniversary of Thundercats first season.  Judging by your release of the 25th anniversary Matrix of Leadership set, I don't think I need to speak to how big of a year it COULD be for this particular property.  I know you guys only have the rights for Max Headroom right now.  If you all negotiate at all on future distribution rights, please please please make Thundercats a priority if for no other reason than the selling point of this silver anniversary year.  It is true that they already have a DVD set out.  It is also true that Transformers had a DVD set that was not more than 4 or 5 years old if I remember correctly, when you put your Matrix of Leadership and 25th Anniversary season sets out last/this year.  Like the above poster has said, many Thundercats fans, while happy to have them on DVD, were less than blown away with that release.  A proper "Eye of Thundera" set loaded with similar extras (toy commercials, character profile book, scripts, extra goodies) to the Matrix of Leadership and Real American Hero series sets your company put out at a similar price point, would absolutely sell just as well, if not more so.  I don't want to make a novel out of this, and I know there are plenty of unpublished DVD's out there that fans want, and rightly so.  Any other year, I would gladly wait longer for you to get to Thundercats if you have the chance.  But I have to voice this out and hope other fans seeing this will jump in and ask for a 25th Anniversary DVD Shout! set of Thundercats!!!!  Brian, please if you are someone who can see potential, make this a priority for future negotiations later this year with WB for future series releases!

Wow Grune nice write up. I personally think it would be cool to have the set in the Book of Omens. Just think about the sound of it. Thundercats the Complete Book of Omens Collection. Has a nice ring to it doesn't it? I agree with everything you had to say about extras. I would love to have proper interviews with Larry Kenney, Lynn Lipton, Peter Newman, Earle Hyman, but do it like they did for Transformers and Joe with all of them together in the same room.

I think a Smurfs complete series box set released at the time of the new movie would be nice.  Of course, it would be a ton of episodes like Leave it to Beaver.  I'd bet Warner would sell the rights to that at least.  I'm not sure if they would give up their rights to releasing those cheapy single disc releases.  The series will never get a full release at the rate they are going.

It really would be nice to get more then five episodes per release of the Smurfs. I'd also love if they could release the final season of X-Men Evolution and season sets of Legion Of Superheroes.

I wish I could collect all episodes of Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures on DVD!

The sad part is that Warner Bros. has no current plans to finish both titles.

Please see what you can do!

It is a great idea, Grune, but the rights to ThunderCats are not available.  And, sadly, even if they were, the amount of time it takes to negotiate and sign a deal, and then actual production would prevent us from getting a set like this out before the end of the year.

I'd be happy, just to see the remaining Silverhawks and Jem episodes released on DVD that Rhino failed to finish before they lost the rights to those shows.

Would love to see Silverhawks finished. Just one more volume would do it.

RE: Warner Bros Cartoons

Warner Archive has announced via their Twitter feed that the Saturday morning cartoon series Pirates of Dark Water will be released on DVD on August 31, 2010, with pre-orders accepted starting Thursday or Friday.  These DVDs will be burned on demand with no bonus features.

In addition, the series Thundarr the Barbarian and Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space are also expected on Warner Archive DVDs in late September, with the official announcement coming when they are available for pre-order along with "appox. 5 other genre titles.

Maybe some cartoons that were unreleashed in the past, will follow next!

Fingers crossed.
