Do you think there is room enough in the world for a possible return to t.v. for Mario? There could be stories about the different games like Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario Kart, Mario Sunshine, etc. Don't you think it would be fun to watch them as episodes in a series, like say, "Super Mario Adventures"? Also, should it be 2-d, 3-d, or both?
The same question goes for Captain N. Or should these classics remain classics and not be brought back to the cartoon forefront?
Any thoughts? |

One way or another it would be geared toward kids of today. just my thoughts |

But moreover, I think yoshis island would carry more of a storyline. In fact, studios should've continued the mario series,DURING ITS PRIME, just to be parallel with the video games. "Tired of playing the video game? Just switch to the cartoon!!!"
It would be a great privilege to see Mario return to the t.v world again with different shows. However, it does run into problems.
Super show, mario bros 3 and super mario world series were all created (as trustkill mentioned) during the NES & SNES era to boost their popularity. But during the mid 80s and 90s society was different, life was different, even the people growing up. If par se, video game shows were to introduce themselves today, they wouldnt be excellent like they were 15-20 years ago, because society is always introducing new ideas.New ideas o Kids would be focused on something different to watch, rather than awesome video game shows like all of us grew up watching. Because the new generation is not used to the glory of the past times. Instead, they would probably expect something existent to their time.
So to create a sidebar cartoon of the mario realm today would be pointless for them because the magic is not there anymore.Maybe nintendo has moved on, or the kids nowadays demand something entirely different than just cheesy video game cartoons. Producers and creators would focus on different ways of creating mario cartoons. Even though, the older generation would totally love it.As a retro advocate, while I hate to say this but.. "they dont make em like they used to"
Oh yeah, one more thing. As much as Captain N was totally tubular, it should've never mixed with mario bros 3 and the adventures of super mario world in the first place. Both mario bros 3 could've lasted alot longer than 26 episodes and 13 for mario world. I blame captain N for shortening the super mario world series. Captain N did fine on its own,why did it have to merge with the mario cartoons? So your right, mario shouldve been created way before captain N.

I am still waiting for whoever ownes the rights to Robocop : the animated series, to put that 12 or 13 episode run out. |

Member since: 4/28/2007 | | RE: Burning Questions... | Well, it's feasible that Mario should come before Captain N. I say that because you can get more stories out of Mario, due to all the different games. It's harder for Captain N mostly because of how it was put together. You had heroes from different video games and video game companies. Getting the licenses to represent these heroes is not going to be easy. You'd have to stick w/ Nintendo only. The amount of heroes may not be enough for the team.
Oh, another question: If not new episodes, then should they take the older episodes and re-vamp them with new animation, and maybe new voice acting from the games themselves? This would be hard for Captain N, due to that licensing issue, though. |

Member since: 6/4/2007 | | RE: Burning Questions... | I wonder if shout has their own studio section where they can create and produce their own shows. It would be a great opportunity to see all the different varieties with the mario storylines. Not a bad idea really, minus the legal issues with character licensing.
Re-vamping old episodes to new is a good suggestion, but turns out worse to the end. The quality of the show lessens in value when the original formula is tampered with. Just look at the ninja turtles. After the 87-96 tmnt series went off the air to try the live action series in 97, the show didnt last that long because it wasnt the same. Then six years later, 2003 at the time, the creators went back to the animation format but with a brand new makeover. April was not the same, Shredder is a robot and a new intro. The 2003 tmnt series is awful. In the end, the show looked terrible and still does. Im sure anyone who remembers the original series of ninja turtles knows it was magnificent. Changing something that was already successful into a greater show only make things worse, possibily with less excitement in the mix. So anything attempted to be re-vamped would just kill shows itself in the long run, cartoon or not.
