Who owns the rights to this show? Doesn't seem any studio Domestic (U.S) or International, has ever released this series on videotape or DVD. I just saw an episode on youtube and thought it was an excellent show. |

Member since: 3/21/2009 | | RE: BIONIC SIX on DVD "Yes" or "No" | The rights are almost certainly with Universal Studios, I would think, as the cartoon was produced by MCA, who is the copyright claimant on the property.
The show is not *technically* a spin-off of Six Million Dollar Man and/or Bionic Woman...but there is certainly a connection there in the minds of many folks (from the word "bionic" if nothing else). As many of you know, there have been rights issues concerning the original novel "Cyborg" (that SMDM was basd on, and which I happen to be reading at the moment, as my father-in-law found a copy in a used bookstore and loaned it to me...quite good!). More on those rights issues can be found here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20080213095215/http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/Dvd-Guy/Arent-Original-Bionic/800023655
But even though the Cyborg-based rights issues probably don't affect "Bionic Six" at all, put yourself in Universal's shoes. Would YOU release Bionic Six on DVD without being able to tie it in with DVD releases of SMDM or BW? Probably not. While B6 has its fans, the audience for it isn't anywhere near as big as the fan base for Steve and Jaime. :)
Maybe my assessment is wrong; it's based on my own reasoning rather than any discussion with industry insiders. But that's my two cents worth. |

Although I do have a very good bootleg set of this series on DVD, I'd love an official release of this series. With lots of extra bonus features on the series. One day I hope the powers that own this series realize that they need to release this. |

I'm sure it's a rights issue that's holding up the DVD release OR they're waiting for the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG in development movie, which I think is at The Weinstein Company now. |

it appears UNIVERSAL is about to release the Six Million Dollar Man and the bionic woman on DVD . Now perhaps if all goes well the Bionic Six cartoon could be released too or SHOUT could pick it up
It say in the link that the rights issue about the novel Cybork have been worked out

Member since: 12/14/2009 | | RE: BIONIC SIX on DVD "Yes" or "No" | I only ever saw but maybe one episode of this show in my childhood... but I remembered seeing the credits for the show roll because it was usually on around or about the same time as G.I.Joe. I don't know that I am so heavily invested in it that I would totally buy the complete series right off the bat... but the show has always piqued my interest, since I was a kid. So I would definitely consider it. I bet if I saw it in the store, I would probably impulse buy it (depending on how big the collection is ~ how many episodes it is. If it's ~100 episodes and in a footlocker like the G.I.Joe set was and cost $150 then I wouldn't buy it... but something like the Exo-Squad season or the X-Men series DVDs that have come out for about $20, I would totally do!).
In summation, I would like to see this out on DVD! |

I see at Amazon that Jem is available for pre-order, due out on Oct. 11 (from none other than Shout! Factory ). Please release Bionic Six Shout Factory!!
I would also like to point out that at the BS IMDB board, there's a lot of people asking for the DVD release. www.imdb.com/title/tt0092323/board. |

I would say this has the best animation of the 80s being of course done by the famos TMS Entertainment in Tokyo
