Did Ironside S1 do well enough to warrant a S2 release? Having finished S1 this week (great job all the way around), I am very pleased with the job Shout did with this and hope that more releases are on the horizon.
Thank you. |

Hey I really like the s1 ironside, I just wished it had closed captioning , do none of shouts sets have CC or due to cost issues it was left out? considering the average age of possible target audence CC could help sale or younger folks like me (44) CC helps with my midnight insomiac viewing. Thanks Bob S. |

Member since: 1/12/2007 | | RE: Ironside S2 and beyond? | Bob, I couldn't agree with you more. We do have titles with CC, but they are few and far between. The sad reality is that these series' original caption files no longer exist and getting them made for 26 1-hour-long episodes is too cost prohibitive for the number of sets we expect to sell. It's a real catch-22: we can't afford to create CC if we don't sell enough sets to fans, but we may be losing sales by not putting CC on there.

HHHmmm B Ward what do you mean by caption file? you mean the scripts for the show? I honest admit I not too familure with the tech spec for CC but you seem to indicate that there were sperate files for cc, I was wonder how then parmount did the cc for the mission impossible dvds , because I would imagen that any series done before 1980 wont have caption files, because cc did really exist on american tv before then? Im not doubting you word about the expense I'm just wondering how other dvd producers handle cc for other older series who never had caption files or are lost . Thank Bob S. |

Member since: 1/12/2007 | | RE: Ironside S2 and beyond? | Closed Captioning files can be created-- and more often are-- after the fact. It requires sending them off to a company that specializes in the process. Then, those files are added to the discs. For a series like Ironside, which can contain nearly 30 hour-long episodes, this process can be costly: thousands of dollars. Sadly, this is why a smaller label, like Shout! Factory, can't afford to put CC on all of our titles.
Hope this helped!

I was born after the series ended but discovered it in syndication on an obsure local channel over 20 years ago and have been hoping to see it again ever since. I second that motion.! While I'm here, WATCH OUT.!!!!!! There's a fairly ranchy word used not only 1 but I think it was said 2nd time by Ed Brown within minutes of Bob saying it .! And it a VERY British swear word, not really commonly said in the US, and it's the 'B'word no not b'a's't'a'r'd but b'o'l'l'i'x.!!! Considerin' on US TV adults couldn't even say damn, or God or any form mild rudish word/s whatsoever.!!! Can't quite remember what season it was but it was in one of early seasons though.!
Going back to what you were saying keirawho I was 10 when I first saw Ironside, but for the life of me I can't understand why Aunty Beeb (us Brits wording for the BBC) renamed it : A Man Called Ironside . Anyway Please keep the series coming 2 to 8 PLEASE brilliant stuff.
