C.O.P.S.

To Brian or another shout rep,

Now that Sonic and some other shows are getting finished off as exclusives, what are the chances that C.O.P.S. gets a complete release in one or two more volumes (or even as a complete series set)?

RE: C.O.P.S.
I'll say this much: the chances are exponentially better than they were prior to this release strategy.

Awesome! I  hope that this happens soon be dying to see more episodes. Any release of the rest of the episodes would be great! I mean look at what amazon did for the nicktoons and they are selling like hot cakes. As well as what timelife did with the Real Ghostbusters.

It says on wikipedia that C.O.P.S. Volume 2 is coming out on March 16, 2010.  Is that true or is somebody just making that up?

I joined this site JUST to voice that I also want C.O.P.S. vol 2 on dvd.  I even did it on New Year's Eve! Do you know the time it takes to search out and sign up at a site???

I have been waiting for YEARS now.

I bought C.O.P.S. Vol. 1 the DAY it came out and have been WAITING patiently(well not THAT patient) ever since.

If they can release other shows on dvd that didnt have toys, comics, etc tied to it why not this?

PLEASE don't be like those other companies and drop the ball and give collectors incomplete collections. You did so well on the last volume.

to sweeten the deal:
If released, I will send the maker of vol. 2 a fruit roll up. They can choose the flavor.

Wow.  People joined JUST to tell us they wanted more C.O.P.S.  Then, y'know what?  It's happening.  I can't tell you when, but I can say that I'm working on volume two, which will be released via Direct-to-Consumer this year.

Obviously, this is a big deal for me, personally, as C.O.P.S. was the very first DVD set I produced for Shout! Factory.  So it gives me great pleasure to say that your voices have been heard over these last few years and you can expect to see the fruits of making those voices heard soon.

So there.  Enjoy!

Yeah, it looks like the complete series would be a three-volume set, when all is said and done.  I'm currently revisiting the project to see if there's anything I can still include for bonus materials.  Perhaps some more background art.  I still want to include one piece of video I had ready for the first the volume, but wasn't allowed to include, due to certain clearances.  But we'll see.  Because this is direct-to-consumer, our budgets are very limited, so don't be surprised if the second volume is just the episodes.

Hi! I just saw the great news on http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ and I just registered to tell you how happy I am :) I dearly hope the 3rd volume gets released as well. I am a collector of 80's animated shows and I hope that one day you are able to release the remaining Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors episodes. I also am very sad that Disney doesn't release the remaining Gargoyles, what a shame. I would instantly buy M.A.S.K, Inhumanoids and Visionaries too if SHOUT were to make them available. Heck I bought G.I. Joe's and Transformers box set from you and I even buy the single seasons sets just to have back ups. Yep I'm that nuts. Great stuff! Cheers Greenspan

It's too bad that Shout Factory doesn't own the dvd rights for Inspector Gadget any more, but if they did they could've finished that show up and released Gadget Boy and Heather, Gadget Boy's Adventures In History, and Inspector Gadget's Field Trip and maybe even Gadget and the Gadgetinis.

Wow!  Great news since I've been wanting to see the rest of series since Volume 1 didn't have an episode in it that I've been looking for.  Unfortunately I don't remember what the episode was called since all that I can remember is that one of the female villaninesses on the show got, I think it was Blockade, to slip on a glove while he was sleeping and dance with her so that the glove could get his fingerprints and then she went around framing Blockade.

Also, will the C.O.P.S Volume 2 set be available to Canadians?  Or will it be US only?

Just wanted to express my excitement over the new C.O.P.S. release.  Thanks for making this happen.  It's frustrating when the series I'm collecting stop getting released on disc (EXO Squad, Zeta Project, just to name a couple).  Can I put in a request for Skeleton Warriors?  Not sure if there's much of a demand but I'd love to watch that show again, plus it's only 13 eps so it wouldn't need more than one release.

It would be nice if we could at least get those scenes of that episode with Sundown and Highway as an extra on the set if not the whole episode.  They were on the NCircle release, so I know they are still out there.  All of the PSAs as extras would be a nice feature as well.

Just signed up today when I heard about the possibility of getting the Japanese Transformers shows Headmasters, Masterforce, & Victory. But mostly I'm here to support C.O.P.S. getting a Vol. 2 release followed by a Vol. 3 release as this great show deserves to be complete on DVD along with Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors. Heck if Rambo & Freedom Force & Bravestar 2 decent but under whelming shows can get complete DVD releases these two classic franchises deserve the same respect.

Thanks for your time!

Looks like a 3/16/10 release for this title and Sonic.  I would have liked to have seen Bulletproof or some other characters on the cover (never did like the volume 1 cover), but it is probably cheaper to just keep the same cover with a different color.

All I wanted to say was this:

Brian - thank you VERY much for making this release happen. Since '06 I have been waiting for this to come out. You can imagine I completely lost hope but it seems faith has prevailed. Please ensure that Vol. 3 is released, this is something so much of us would love to see finished. I'll be posting about this on numerous sites and forums to spread some word, you can be certain I'll be buying my copy on the first day of release.

Now if only Sega would finally release Shenmue 3 (anybody know what I'm talking about???).

All the best.

P.S. Does this mean we can only purchase the set on this site? I ordered the first volume from Amazon and actually found it in stores as well (I worked at HMV).

P.P.S. Would it be possible to reveal how much Vol. 1 sold? I am still very curious about this. Honestly I just want this series finished, I wouldn't even care if Vol. 3 is also a bare-bones release; I just want it completed. Thanks!

I'm not sure about our Canadian rights via DTC.  It's possible you may be able to get the set from us here.  Regardless, if you go to Amazon or eBay, there is a seller there that will be carrying our DTC titles.  Not positive if they'll have them on the street date, so buying them directly from Shout! may be your best option if you're in the States, but if you're not, at least you know you'll still be able to get the titles eventually.

The price will be higher to order from a seller on Amazon or eBay, right? Maybe I'll have to ask my uncle who lives in the states if I can have it sent to him. Does the Shout store ship to PO Boxes?

I've been checking amazon every month for new G.I. Joe vol. and I was so frustrated that there's still no Vol. 2 of C.O.P.S. that I decided to check Shout's website. Lucky I did and saw the Direct-to-customer vol. 2. Without any hesitation, I added it to the cart and paid for it. I would like to thank you Brian and the rest of the Shout staff for releasing more C.O.P.S. I bought the first vol. the day it came out, and will be looking forward to vol. 3. I also bought Jayce and the Wheeled warriors the day of, but heard that the sales wasn't to good for it. hope there will be a Direct to consumer exclusive down the road. I will continue getting the G.I. Joes and Transformers. Hopefully the DIC Joes and Jem will be coming out in the future. Thanks again.

Hey, I notice there's no C.O.P.S. for kids PSA segments on Vol.2. What a bummer. Could you put in all the C.O.P.S. for kids PSA segments in Vol. 3 please, including the segments featuring live action police officers? Thanks.

I noticed originally Volume 2 was stated as being a 4 disc set with 22 episodes, but now it looks like a 3 disc set with 21 episodes.  Since there are 66 episodes, a Volume 3 would need to include 23 episodes.

Looking at the wikipedia episode guide,  it appears that "The Case of The Crook With A Conscience" got skipped over.  Any reason for that? With 66 episodes, I was kind of surprised that 21 episodes instead of 22 are on the set.  thanks.

RE: C.O.P.S.

To Brian or another Shout rep,

Was there any particular reason why "The Case of The Crook With A Conscience" got skipped?  It should be between the episodes, "The Case Of The Big Little Green Men" and "The Case Of Mace’s Romance."  Do you guys have that episode listed in a different spot later(everything else matches up so far between the two volumes), was it just an oversight, is the store page incorrect, is it missing from the masters, or is it something else?  thanks.

In honor of C.O.P.S. Volume 2's release date this Tuesday, it would be cool if the show's intro got played on Shout!'s main page like Adam-12 & Max Headroom.  If there is one thing people remember the most about the show, it is the theme song.  I assume this thing starts shipping on Tuesday.  I'm excited.

Any updates on vendors such as Amazon selling this to Canadians? I've been checking and they don't even have Volume 2 listed yet. Thanks.

P.S. I've been spreading word about this set across Youtube and the like, I hope this project succeeds. I really want this show to be completed.

Volume 2 is now listed on Amazon.com for the amazingly insane price of $100.  Since it hasn't been released yet, maybe the price will go down on March 16th, 2010.  But for those of you from Canada and beyond, here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1603994068/

That price has nothing to do with Amazon.  It is set by the seller, "treasurehunter55", who is a participant in Amazon's "marketplace program" and sells thru their site instead of (or perhaps in addition to) someplace else such as eBay.

Looking at other Shout! items that this seller has listed from Shout!, everything seems at reasonable prices.  The new Sonic is $29.99, the new Two Dads is $24.99, and Goldbergs is $59.99; seems like something screwy is going on with COPS.  Just write the guy and ask, and I'm sure he'll straighten it out.

RE: C.O.P.S.

I just received my set yesterday.  Of course I could've had it on the 15th had someone been home when the FedEx person came.  But still, for someone who lives in Canada I'm surprised that I got it so fast.

I'm really enjoying this set so far.  There have been episodes on here that I've had memory fragments of for years (unfortunately so far I haven't been able to find the specific episode that I keep wanting to see).  But I have noticed that you can tell that a few of the tapes were not in the best condition, since a few of the episodes you can hear the tape stretching in a few places when the characters are speaking.

Also I've played The Case of Mace's Romance and I noticed that the audio was not mixed into a 2-channel mono mix like the rest of the episodes.  Instead the audio on that episode has the voices coming from the left channel with some music on that track, and then the right has the majority of the music and the sound effects, so when you're playing it on a surround system, instead of having all the audio for this mono program coming out of the center speaker the surround system is processing it as a couple of surround signals and making the audio come out of all the speakers and sounding really hollow and echoey with the center speaker consisting mostly of overpowered soundeffects drowning out the vocals.  I'm figuring this is probably how the audio was recorded on the masters you guys at Shout had, since it sounds just how some news stories I've worked on have sounded when they've been mixed for mono broadcast expecting the broadcast VTR to process it into a single mono mix.  Hopefully on a future Volume 3 all the episodes will be in a proper 2.0 mono mix.

Any word yet on plans for a Volume 3?

And to the people at Shout, has Volume 2 been a "hot seller" yet?

I don't know how much of an audience is out there for this show, but hopefully enough to justify the release of the third and final volume.  It took four years to get volume two released.  I really hope it doesn't take that long to get volume three out into the wild!

Here's a few more. Mainframe: Skateboard safely (That's where mainframe tells the viewers to safely skateboard away from traffic, but Berserko decides to do it anyway only to crash into traffic.) Another PSA I remember is when Berserko did something I hardly remember which finds himself crashing into Big Boss who's walking alone the sidewalk. I think Berserko was rollerskating or something. Another one I hardly remember is where Berserko and Turbo Tu-tone tries to ride double on a bicycle only to crash into something. That's all I remember about it

Disc 2 has an episode error. Please be aware of this for labeling issues, and also if Volume 3 is made.

Disc 2 Episode 6, is the The Case of the Boy Nobody Wanted

DVDs etc. say The Case of the Crime Nobody Heard, supposedly two different episodes.

Its at the end of every episode. Considering that Cookie Jar bought out DIC a few years ago its not surprising, but at first I was surprised that the old DIC logo wasn't included and then the Cookie Jar logo added on at the end for posterity's sake.

RE: C.O.P.S.

I could care less about the DIC logo vs. Cookie Jar logo.  It has nothing to do with the episodes.

Could The Case of the Boy Nobody Wanted & The Case of the Crime Nobody Heard be the same episode?  It would make sense since there are usually only 65 episodes in a season of a weekday show.  Sometimes, episodes of a series go through title changes and maybe that is why the 66 episode titles have popped up on various places on the net.

My only concern so far is with the audio for The Case of Mace's Romance, although the run time for The Case of the Boy Nobody Wanted is shorter than a usual episode so could there be any footage missing?

This was noticed by us, too.  But it's not a "mistake," per se.  Contracts required the title be named "The Case of The Cold Caveman."  This was a contract signed when the episode was first produced, but nonetheless, the powers that be adhere to what was physically signed.  According to the episode, the word is "cool."  According to the tape and the records, the word is "cold."  Our hands were tied.

Interesting. But what about the issue involving The Case of the Crime Nobody Heard being changed to The Case of the Boy Nobody Wanted, Brian? Are they really one and the same or two separate cartoons? And what about the sound issues The Case of Mace's Romance has? Are you aware of that? If so, are you going to fix the sound issue and send out a disk 2 replacement containing the fixed episode of the Case of Mace's Romance and the other two episodes mentioned?

RE: C.O.P.S.
I am aware of the sound issues, but unfortunately, this was an issue with the original master.  The tape was replaced twice and each time, had the same issue.  I'm afraid there was nothing that could be done in encoding or authoring.  It's the best possible copy DiC/Cookie Jar had to offer.  In fact, it looks considerably better than the previous two tapes we were provided.

According to the records and logs, the episode on the disc is the correct one, in terms of production order.  The packaging was created by looking at the master labels, this one being labeled incorrectly.  The other episode will be included in Vol. 3, where it belongs.

There will be no replacement discs.

RE: C.O.P.S.

So are there 66 or 65 episodes?  Should be a pretty easy to answer if Shout has had a copy of the masters for the past 4-5 years...

RE: C.O.P.S.
Here's what I came up with. In C.O.P.S. HQ website forum, an individual by the name of Uncle Buttons came along and gave out this message:

"Sorry to disappoint everyone but there are only 65 episodes in total. The famous "66th missing episode" is in fact just an alternate title to the same episode..... yes you guessed right, The Case of the Crime Nobody Heard and The Case of the Boy Nobody Wanted is in fact the same episode. My guess is that the "Nobody Wanted" title was the original one but DIC or whoever had control of the cartoon at that time decided to later change the title because it sounded too harsh or something. So they went with a more kid friendly title of the Crime Nobody Heard. The "Nobody Heard" version of the title is pretty clever and fits the episode better imo for those who remember the episode."

When asked how does he know about this, here's his response:

"I used common sense but yeah..... I did have this episode on vhs ages ago. Also, at the start of each episode as we see the Cops folder with the episode title being typed in you will notice that at the top left hand side of each folder there are a bunch of numbers. Each "case" has a number associated to that particular episode. What you want to look at are the last two numbers. I think in something like 90% of the episodes the last two numbers match the production numbers of the episodes. So for example the folder for "The Case of the Boy Nobody Wanted" should have something like xxx36. (Maybe you can confirm this as I do not yet have Volume 2) 36 being the production number which is "160036" Does that number look familiar? It should as it's the production number of "The Case of the Crime Nobody Heard" also ending with 36. Conclusion: this is one and the same episode."

Here's the list of episodes along with the production numbers the list goes by.

Makes sense, since 65 is a pretty standard number for a syndicated animated series.  5 days a week, on a 13-week cycle.  66 would just be...odd.

They are pressed discs, just like all their other sets.  No DVD R.  The only difference with the exclusive titles is where you can purchase them.

Please bring "Starman" the 1986-87 tv series, Silver Spoons seasons 2 & beyond and Jennifer Slept Here to DVD.

Are there plans to re-release C.O.P.S. Volume 1 in the same package format as Volume 2? On the Shout home page it looks like when the C.O.P.S. advertisement comes up on the tv that volume 1 is in the same clear case as what volume 2 is in. Just curious. Stupid to ask I know.

I remember Brian once saying that they had a pretty good idea on whether a show was going to have another release after the first month of sales, so hopefully we'll find out sooner than later.  I think a complete release will also help the sales of volumes 1 & 2.

I'm loving the Vol. 2 release. Just watching this show again has me nostalgic (and thus, sad). Please release Vol. 3 and end the show, it would really crush me if it remained unfinished like other great works. All I want is the last 21 episodes on DVD, there don't even have to be any special features or anything.

Nope.  No plans, yet.  But DTC titles are harder to judge than others.  There isn't a lot of advertising done.  So it takes a little longer than usual to truly get an idea of how well they're going to do.  Be patient, gang.

On Youtube the intro alone has 400,000+ views, obviously there is interest. But where are these people now when the sets need the sales? I just hope the DVD plans don't come to a premature end because of basic capitalism. I have posted links all around Youtube, I hope we can all make this a reality.

I don't think Brian necessarily said anything bad or good about C.O.P.S. Volume 2 sales.  Obviously specific numbers can't be talked about, but I'd be curious to know how C.O.P.S. did in relation to Sonic 3 and Bump in the Night.  I don't expect Shout! to be a charity, but if they think they can release a Volume 3 and at least breakeven, I hope they do it for the C.O.P.S. fans.  I'm all for being patient...as long as it gets released.    Whether 4 months from now or a year from now, hopefully, it will see a full release.  I've mentioned the C.O.P.S. Volume 2 release in several forums.

RE: C.O.P.S.
As for views on YouTube, it really says nothing because it's a free format.  Why pay for something you can watch for free online?  Furthermore, some of those views could be people remembering the show, but wanting to taste it to see if it's good enough to own and deciding against it.  Plus, you have people who've gone back to the page multiple times.  So, YouTube's never a good source to gauge interest in purchasing a series on DVD.

Secondly, the petition is a good start, but it's very easy to sign something to show your support and interest.  It's another to actually go to the effort of buying the set.  Signing a petition doesn't mean they're guaranteed sales.  In fact, routinely, only 10% (maximum) of petition signers usually carry through and purchase the DVDs when they're released.  Others figure they have time and often forget about it or something else takes priority.  We need a minimum of 10,000 to sell via retail to consider it a success.  Fewer via DTC, but still, quite a few.

Keep the word of mouth going.  We find everyday that there are people that don't know these volumes are available via DTC.  They need to know they can get it online at Amazon and our site.  More need to buy it for us to carry on.

So you are saying that sales haven't been enough yet to warrant another release?  Bummer.  How has the C.O.P.S. release done compared to your other DTC titles?  Unless I missed it elsewhere, I've seen zero advertising not including this site for the DTC releases.

EDIT: If this question is not answered I will totally understand, but how many units did Vol. 1 sell? I'm trying to get an idea of just how bad it was.

EDIT: Are there any other places besides YouTube where I can post the links? Any forums or whatever? Looking for any ideas here.

That's very true!  I still get comments on my video review of Volume 1 from people who didn't even know it was out on DVD, and are practically jumping for joy to find out about it!  I'll be re-posting that one in upgraded quality soon (as soon as I get volume 2) and doing a C.O.P.S. Review Week on the Multimedia Chronicles to help hype this baby up!  It'll be a repost of the Volume 1 review in better quality, a new review of Volume 2, and a little something else i think the fans will enjoy.  ;)

I've started threads or posted about C.O.P.S. Volume 2 in just about every major forum I can think of that there would be an interest in its release.  It would suck if all my effort ends up being for not.  I've been monitoring it and Sonic on ebay and it was outselling Sonic.  I hadn't been monitoring the other DTC releases as much, but it seemed like it was at least doing as well as them if not better.  I figured this release would be like Denver the Last Dinosaur was for another company which only made a 1000 copies of it, so I didn't think it would have to sell like gangbusters to get another release.  I do hope eventually it gets a Volume 3.  One thing I don't like is if some one does a blind search for C.O.P.S. on the internet the Fox tv show shows up a lot more and it takes a lot of effort to shift through things.

I was thinking about Volume 3 the other day.  I really hope we get it.  It has perhaps my favorite episode in "The Case of the Lawless Lady" which continues the relationship of Nightshade and Mace as seen in "The Case of Mace's Romance."  A Volume 3 would also have "The Case of the Lowest Crime" in which the Crooks and C.O.P.S. team against a drug dealer.  Also, it would have the debuts of some of the Wave 2 action figures such as Airwave, A.P.E.S., and Powderkeg.

Haha, I realize it sounds a bit wishy-washy, but we just don't have enough "advice" categories for my liking...and it's technically a "Recommended" rating, but I softened it a bit since this is most certainly a niche title. I watched this cartoon growing up---and I realize that some of you guys did too---so I can't let nostalgia affect my reasoning too much.

I sincerely appreciated Volume 2, though, and I enjoyed reading (in hindsight) about Mr. Ward's contributions to it. Thanks for pointing out the source material issue on Episode #12 as well...I suspected that's what it was, but it's always nice to be able to confirm the source of technical issues.

Anyway, I'd love to review a copy of Volume 3 if it ever sees the light of day. Thanks for your efforts...and, of course, for taking the time to read my humble review.

Oh, and I'd definitely not recommend the Double Down. :)

Hey Randy,

It'd be great if you could advertise Volume 1 and 2 a bit more on your site. I also hope Volume 3 is released one day, as N8 Storm said it features some of the best episodes. Lawless Lady was also probably my favorite episode overall, I've had to resort to Youtube to watch it. Anyway, I blogged about this DVD and the individual entry has received 206 views. Let's hope that did at least something.

Ok. I NEED volume 3. so many of my childhood shows have gone unfinished. We are SOO close to realizes something great.

a 3rd volume could only help sales of vol 1 and 2 since i know for sure some people are waiting for the full series to be released.

You could also bundle sets for a full series release so it is a win win.

You have already paid for the rights to the show so you might as well get the most out of that investment right?

if you promise you will put out volume 3 i will guarantee 3-4 more sales the minute I read the confirmation PLUS i will give deluxe backrubs to all that are involved with  approving the decision on volume 3 :D

I think one thing C.O.P.S. has going for it is that there is enough of a hardcore base of fans to help spread the word around the net of its release (and the same for a would be Volume 3 would be true) unlike some of the other Shout! Select titles who I don't think have that same support, which I'm guessing has helped C.O.P.S. Volume 2 outperform or keep up with some of the other Shout! Select releases.  I agree with others that a Volume 3 release would help the sales of Volume 1 & 2, since the complete series would then be out and I know some fans have been waiting for that.

Is there going to be a vol. 3?  I have not bought vol. 2, but would if I knew a vol. 3 was coming.  Thirty bucks is a lot to pay for an unfinished series, but I would be willing to fork over dough if I knew it would be complete at some point.

Volume 3 will be more likely to happen if Volume 2 sells well.  Sitting on the fence just because the entire series isn't out yet actually does more harm than good in terms of the rest being released.

RE: C.O.P.S. Week on The Multimedia Chronicles has begun!

Nice reviews.  I hope we get the final 22 episodes on DVD.  The main extra I'd like to see on a Volume 3 are the remaining PSAs  (which could be put on a continuous loop like an episode if that would save time and space).   If they could include a remix of The Case of Mace's Romance or the missing scenes of Highway/Sundown from The Case of C.O.P.S. File #1 Part 1, that would be cool as well.

Thanks N8Storm!  I'm definitely pleased with the comments they've been getting - lots of folks (hopefully) going to buy the DVDs now after seeing the reviews.  Hopefully it will help....not to mention help encourage some of the OTHER animated shows Shout currently has in limbo get finished on DVD (*cough*JAYCE*cough*).

RE: C.O.P.S. Week on The Multimedia Chronicles has begun!

I have no idea what the sales numbers are on the Shout! website, but I've been monitoring Amazon sale rankings and Ebay sales over the months of the Shout! Select titles and I'd say C.O.P.S. Volume 2 has been doing better or in the same ball park as most of the Shout! Select titles.

Zaranyzerak, I suggest that you post your C.O.P.S. videos on some message boards as well if you haven't already.  I've spread the word about C.O.P.S. Volume 2 being on DVD on several message boards over the months and have been able to bring in some sales.

I really hope we get that last volume.

RE: C.O.P.S.

While it's true that sitting on the fence won't get the rest of the series out there, it has been seen time and time again where people will commit to purchasing a series on DVD only to have it suddenly fizzle away leaving people without a complete series.  That's why people will wait for an entire series before they'll jump in.  They've been burned too many times.  That's certainly why I'm waiting.  I want the C.O.P.S. series - The complete series.  Not 2/3 of it.

This is why a series should be released as a whole up front, and not bother dealing with volumes.  Sure it's more expensive, but if it's readily available, more people will bite.

RE: C.O.P.S.
And that's the worst possible thing you can do.  I suggest watching Part 4 of my videos posted above - "The Importance of Fan Support."  It's harsh, but it needs to be to properly get the point across.  Just because other people do that, doesn't mean you should.  Sitting on the fence and waiting for an eventual possible complete series set for an obscure, "we're lucky to have it at all, in whole or in part" series like C.O.P.S. does far more harm than good to the chances of seeing the rest of it released.

An obscure show like this CAN'T be released in a full set up front.  The potential sales number just aren't there to justify the expense of producing a set on that scale right away.  This isn't a massive show like Transformers or G.I. Joe, where the up front Complete Series sets were justified.  It's volumes or nothing.  Would you prefer nothing?  Because that's exactly what we'll get if fans don't support releases like these AS THEY COME OUT.  So while you're enjoying nothing, the rest of us are enjoying the first 43 episodes and helping to better the chances of the final volume being released by voting for it with our money.

Anyway, check out the vid.  You might change your outlook after.  I sincerely hope you do.

So you'd rather have nothing at all than just most of what you want? That makes no sense to me. I'd rather be left with 2/3 of a series I love than none of it.

RE: C.O.P.S.

I watched your video as you recommended.  It was very insightful, and definitely gave me something to think about.

As you stated in your video, anyone who won't buy the individual volumes before a full release is out isn't a true fan.  I agree with that.  I also admit that I'm not a true fan.  I remember C.O.P.S. from my childhood, and was interested in owning the full set.

However, like I said, your video was very insightful, and gave me something to think about.  I'm definitely leaning closer to the side of buying the two volumes that are out already.

I was about to order C.O.P.S. volume 2 along with some other DVDs. But after I fill out everything it tells me that it can't be shipped to Denmark. Kind of odd to have Denmark as an option in the country dropdown then. I guess that means no C.O.P.S. for me and no sale for Shout! Factory

RE: C.O.P.S. Week on The Multimedia Chronicles has begun!
I just watched your part 4 rant and I have to say it's a perspective I never really looked at.  As a consumer and fan of an item you get caught up bargain hunting and assuming that these companies are out to milk you for as much as they can that you kind of forget to support the release of the cartoon or that it won't be around forever.  I did have that mentality of having complete sets but it's slowly disappearing, especially since series' like Jayce or Pirates of Darkwater don't even have a conclusion if you have the entire set anyways.  It is a tough thing because as a DVD/Blu Ray movie collector, having an incomplete set on my DVD display kinda urks me but at the same time as a fan of classic cartoons, it's better to have even some of these rare toons then none of them.

However I am not a fan of the four episode per disk releases some companies are doing and even if I love the cartoon I can't justify buying my series four episodes at a time for 20 dollars or so like the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Wolverine and the X-men.

Although I am grateful to the way Shout Factory treats it's franchises and fans and after visiting this website I am doing my best to support this company.  I bought both seasons of Cops, Sonic the Hedgehog complete, all four volumes of G.I. Joe and am planning on purchasing some more items a little later.  Have to wait a little after that splurge, lol.

Brian,

Will we be getting a Volume 3? Yes, No, Very Likely, or Very Unlikely?
If you had to charge an extra $5 or $10 on a Volume 3, I'd be fine with
that. Cutting Volume 2 from 4 to 3 discs probably saved some money. I
really want the final 22 episodes on DVD. Pre-orders started in the
middle of February, so I feel like Shout! pretty much knows with great
certainty on whether there will be a Volume 3 down the road or not.
Barring a complete release, a significant price reduction, or
advertising, C.O.P.S. Volume 2 has sold a large amount of what it is
going to sell. I'd like to know good or bad where Volume 3 stands.
thanks.

ps:  I would very much prefer it as a Shout! Select release, but I'll take a Milcreek (ie: Defenders of the Earth, Prince Valiant) or DVD on Demand (ie: Charles in Charge, Nick Toons) release if I had to.

Actually the seller on Amazon does not ship to Denmark either, and I can't find it for sale on eBay. Another reason for me wanting to order directly from Shout! Factory is that I was planning to buy the Super Mario cartoon bundle at the same time.

The ebay seller might just be out of stock.  Check back in a few days, I've never seen him stay out of stock for long.  Or send a message to the amazon seller and ask about shipping to Denmark.  all he would need to do is activate the International Shipping option (I've done this for customers abroad with my listings sometimes).  Never hurts to ask!

Ah yes, that'll do it!  I noticed it comes up under one but not the other.  The seller should really add both spellings to his listing, I'm sure there are others out there who did the same thing!  And thanks for the kind words, doing my bit to let fans know about stuff like this is one of the reasons I do my show!  :)  Plus just generally being a home video freak, of course...hehehe.

Can we get some type of status update on Volume 3?  I've helped sell a nice amount of copies of Volume 2.  It would be nice to get a status update on Volume 3.  If this subject was Mystery Science, Transformers, or G.I. Joe, one would have gotten an answer by now.  Even when C.O.P.S. Volume 2 first went on sale, it was like pulling teeth for people to get answers on The Case of Mace's Romance, The Case of The Crook With A Conscience, and the 66/65 thing.

Nothing new to report.  And, sadly, because of the workload over here, it's not likely that I'll spend a lot of time commenting on threads for titles that I'm not working on.  I still try to make sure I'm on top of things, but I hang out here as a sidebar to my job.  So, I ask that you be patient.  Particularly when dealing with Shout! Factory Select titles, as they don't sell as hard and fast as retail titles and need a considerable amount of time to make money.  And, as I've said before, we have to know that there's a reasonable likelihood that we'll make it before we can justify spending it.

RE: To Brian
Well, I'm happy to report that my "C.O.P.S. Week" vids have had over 5400 views total so far, so hopefully that'll help perk up sales a bit.  So for now us fans will just keep getting the word out there as much as we can!  Patience ultimately paid off for Volume 2, so for the first time in years I actually have a smattering of hope we might actually see it completed!

The most hilarious comments I got were from a guy CONVINCED that my C.O.P.S. videos were promoting my own bootlegs of the show for sale...HUH?  I've only ever had one episode on tape, and I kept that gem to myself all these years.  I quickly realized he hadn't actually WATCHED the videos at all and was just making assumptions based on having done zero research of any kind (ie: searching amazon for a listing of the official releases, checking tvshowsondvd.com for news items about it...or you know, like ACTUALLY WATCHING THE VIDEO where it's completely obvious I'm talking about an official release...)  But no.  "It's an obscure show, and I personally have never heard of an official release, so he MUST be selling bootlegs of it and promoting them on YouTube."

He then proceeded to make a video showing how people could download the series for free off YouTube, with a lovely description bashing me six ways from Tuesday and trying to convince anyone who saw it that he had "triumphed" by "killing my bootleg business."  Yeah.  Got that little gem of YouTube entertainment shut down in about 5 minutes.  *facepalm*

There are some really...insane....people out there.

Let this be a lesson to everyone in the universe - always make sure you WATCH a video before commenting on it.  One looks like so much less of a dumbass that way!  :)

Records1138 - think of it this way: if you buy Vol. 1 and 2 then they may release Vol. 3. If you DON'T buy them then they definitely won't release Vol. 3. Up to you to decide which is better, and whether you want to give Vol. 3 a fighting chance of being released.

To anyone on the fence: BUY THE SHOW! SUPPORT C.O.P.S!

ZaranyZerak - have you considered posting your C.O.P.S. videos as video responses to the cartoon intro? There's the intro floating around Youtube with over 350,000+ views. I've advertised there numerous times in the comment box.

If people bought through the private seller over at Amazon, would that count towards the sales or is the sales only figured through Shout's store? I still havent bought COPS Vol 2 (along with Bump in the Night & AOSTH V3) due to funds, 38 bucks for a dvd set just more then i can afford but im trying to raise the funds to help, like some of us who are struggling.

Yeah, Brian, that's one thing that I wanted to know: Does it matter where you order a "Shout! It shouldn't matter because they sell the titles to the ebay and amazon sellers so it should still tally as a sale, IMO.

Shout Factory should do what that one company (sorry, don't remember who it was) did for the Robotech series - They took pre orders on it and told people flat out, "If this gets enough pre orders, we will release and sell it.  If not, your credit card will not be charged, and your order will be cancelled."  Well, they got so many pre orders and the entire series was released.  Shout Factory should take pre orders on Volume 3 on C.O.P.S., and then decide if the pre orders warrant a release.

Heck, Shout Factory should do this with all their DVD's that they're not sure will sell or not.  Just take pre orders on the entire series, and then determine if the pre orders warrant a release of the series.  Problem solved, no more waiting to see if an entire series will be released or if you'll be stuck with an incomplete title.  Fans are happy, Shout Factory is happy, and the entire series is released up front.

I just can't bring myself to take the plung on an incomplete series.  Especially when said series may never see a final volume.  I would however pre order the final volume, and then purchase the other two upon hearing that volume three was released.

Sales made through Amazon on Shout! Factory Select titles count toward our numbers.  As do the ones by the specific seller on eBay, because we are kept up on those sales numbers.

That being said, however, buying a used copy through an Amazon Marketplace vendor or elsewhere would not count, because it's the same box set being sold twice.  So buying used is great for you getting the sets you've been waiting for, but sadly, does not contribute to the cause of having future sets released.

With upcoming second Shout! Select releases of Ironside and California Dreams, hopefully C.O.P.S. will get its final volume soon as well.  With this thread's comments on Ironside:

http://www.shoutfactory.com/community/3200/thread.aspx

it seems like a Volume 3 might be possible whether sales were good or not.  It might depend on if anybody at Shout! is a C.O.P.S. fan.  With C.O.P.S. Volume 1 being Brian's first DVD he produced, I hope he still wants to see his first show finished.

Well lets just keep our fingers crossed. We have been waiting almost 5 years (between release of the volumes) for the entire C.O.P.S.series on DVD.  Not that I'm gripping. I'm very happy for what was released.  So I guess we can be patient a little longer. For the final volume release.  But I must admit it's very hard waiting  We are trying to be patient.....but any news would be a some help and comfort

"Mill Creek will also take over the job of fighting crime in a future time! DiC titles have previously been released on DVD by studios such as Shout! Factory and NCircle Entertainment. However, Mill Creek has a deal in place with Cookie Jar Entertainment, which now owns the DiC library. As licenses with other studios expire, Mill Creek is picking up these rights from Cookie Jar/DiC, and one of their plans includes finishing the animated classic series C.O.P.S. on DVD. Hayne revealed that the plan is to put out a "Volume 1" in March, with 33 episodes that customers should be able to buy for around $10. Then later on in the year (possibly as soon as May) Mill Creek plans to release "Volume 2", with the remaining 32 episodes of the show's run (including twenty-one episodes which were never released by Shout!) on DVD for the same price. So by mid-year, fans can have the complete series in-hand."

Then later on in the year (possibly as soon as May) Mill Creek plans to release "Volume 2", with the remaining 32 episodes of the show's run (including twenty-one episodes which were never released by Shout!) on DVD for the same price. So by mid-year, fans can have the complete series in-hand."

This is the original thread where the Mill Creek news should probably have been posted in the first place (it really didn't need its own thread).  If somebody comes across this thread, but not the other, it is probably a good idea to have that news in here as well.

So the place to get the entire set of C.O.P.S. is Mill Creek.  Thanks for nothing yet again, Shout Factory.  This is why I don't buy DVD's from you until an entire series is out.  Once again you have FAILED the fans.

If you'd just release the entire series as a whole, you wouldn't have so many disappointed fans.  But, don't worry, I get why you do it.  It's easier for you to charge thirty to forty bucks a box set for three volumes bringing you in over a hundred buck for a series as opposed to just releasing the entire series for around forty to fifty bucks.  I get it, it's greed.

Glad you didn't sucker me into yet another failed DVD release.

Congrats on being "smart" enough not to support the release! Now, enjoy the fruits of your non-labors - we're getting the low-bitrate, cheaply packaged Mill Creek release instead of what would have been yet another high quality set from Shout. Better than nothing. But anyone who thinks this will be in ANY WAY superior to Shout's releases in quality or content...is seriously kidding themselves.

This is not a "win" for us nor a "lose" for Shout and those who purchase the Shout volumes. It is simply the ONLY VIABLE WAY we will ever see the entire series released. Shout offers a higher quality product, and as such charges more. Perfectly justifiable. Mill Creek offers bargain basement quality and packaging, and prices accordingly. I know which I'd prefer, but thanks to the "fans" sitting on the fence and refusing to support the releases of the past FOUR YEARS, this is what it's come down to. Shout TRIED. The "fans" FAILED. Be thankful we're getting it AT ALL by this point after the complete lack of support from people who supposedly love the show, yet refused to support it one iota.

Yell, scream and hurl insults at Shout all you want. It's NOT their fault. It's YOURS. And you darn well know that. I don't even know why I bother sometimes...

you see this is a CATCH 22 situation.!!!!!!!!!! In order for SHOUT to release more then more people have to BUY the original release. However many of the fans will not want to buy until all are released . The only way for the catch 22 to be broken is if either the fans buy the iniila releases or companies like SHout make a higher gamble and release all at once..... BTW How is your SABER RIDER review coming along ??????????

and speaking of SABER RIDER, they were SMARTER, they released the whole show 52 episodes as a complete BOX SET :D. 52 episdes in 6 discs means about 9 episdes per disc. SHOUT could really learn something from VCI Entertainment :D

I think you are being a little hard on fans of the series.  Just because we are fans doesn't mean we can't be careful about purchasing a box set of our series.  We have all experienced incomplete TV series box sets or box sets that are not just incomplete but rerelease with better features or complete by a different company.
It sucks only having part of a series and I understood something is better then nothing but that doesn't mean we have to buy whatever series comes our way at whatever price without holding out for a price drop or making sure that we can see more then one season of the show.  As much as we love nice disk and cover art and special features the truth is most of us would be content to just get our favorite shows in complete form with a decent video transfer.  If the bells and whistles are what is holding back a not so G.I. joe popular series then lets get rid of them release the whole series at a lower price and then maybe offer a seperate bundle with the bells and whistles if it's worth it.  I would easily give up special features or fancy boxes for a simple boxed complete series.

No, Zaranyzerak is correct. records1138 was being nothing but delusional. And he has no one to be ashamed of but himself. He's not a "fan", he's a so-called "fan". Anyone who promises to buy a TV show on DVD that he or she supposedly loves, but ends up never doing so anyways, is a delusional so-called fan. Him and all the other so-called "fans" who share his philosophy, all seem to have forgotten the words of Stu Pickles on Rugrats:

"If a promise you don't keep, it will haunt you in your sleep. And as you lie beneath your quilt, you will have a conscience full of guilt."

Records1138, if you're still reading this thread, may you forever be haunted by those words for the rest of your life.

And while we're on the subject, here's something I'd like to get off my chest: Why is it that when so many fans of a show that they loved back in the day view an article about it being on DVD, it doesn't transfer to sales? Don't they actually care about seeing the show on DVD? It makes no sense whatsoever. If the reason is because they're out of a job, or they can't order it because of where they live, I can understand. But when they come up with some lame excuse like "I'm waiting for all the seasons to be released" or "Why couldn't they lower the price", they don't even remotely deserve any sympathy from me.

RE: To Brian

That's a nice quote and I loved Rugrats but it doesn't really apply to consumers and sales.  This is not a promise to a friend to help him move or a promise to your gf to go to her boring whatever, it's a company selling goods to a consumer.  Just because a company sells something I am interested in doesn't mean that I have ANY obligation to purchase it.  I can still assess it and determine that it is too expensive for what it is.  I enjoy playing video games but I don't purchase every PS3 game that comes my way.  I wait, buy what I can, handle my other obligations and then come back to my hobbies later.

I have Darkwing Duck, Ducktales and Gargoyles sitting on my shelf incomplete and it kinda sucks.  I love those shows and it would have been great if everyone bought them and drove up sales so they could have complete it but I can't pretend that Disney didn't try to sell people these DVD sets at large prices when they were released.  Or that I waited till recently to purchase them do to this large initial price.

I don't agree with Records 100% but I ALWAYS prefer owning a complete series over an incomplete one and we can't pretend that price doesn't play a roll in peoples purchase.  So as much as we love our extra features and bonuses lets admit that we would give them all up to just get a boxed set of our favorite incomplete series barebones.  If something doesn't sell you don't blame the consumers, you blame the company.  Maybe more advertising or a better price point could have been to blame.  Honestly I would prefer cheaper box sets with fewer features if it increases the chance that it will release completely.

If a company is selling items aimed towards the blind hardcore fans that will pay anything for that merchandise then they will always be short because that is a small group.  Most people are fans but with in reason and a better price point or a complete set release can tip them to a purchase.

RE: To Brian

Yes, it's true.  I'm soley responsible for all you fans not getting a volume 3 of C.O.P.S. from Shout Factory.  My lack of purchasing one of each of volumes one and two was the end all be all deciding factor for Shout Factory to screw all of you out of a complete series.

Here's a fact for you.  Shout Factory had no excuse to not release this entire series as one box set.  They broke it up into three sets because they knew that they could charge more for the series that way.

If you want to blame someone, blame Shout Factory.  As a consumer, why should I consitantly be screwed by a DVD manufacturer who consitantly releases partial series?  And, while we're on that subject, let's be honest here - Shout Factory is a repeat offender of this.  They constantly release half of a series, and then blame/punish the fans by telling them, "We didn't make enough cash off of you, so you don't get the rest of the series."

So, yeah, you can blame me.  Or you can wipe the delusional fanboy dust from your eyes and look at the real people to blame - Shout Factory.  If they gave a damn about you as a consumer or a fan, you'd have the whole series already.

I don't buy half of a series.  I don't care about bells and whistles.  I just want the complete TV series from start to finish.  If that means I get a slightly lower quality version (at a much reasonable price) from Mill Creek, then I'll take it.  If you were true fans, you would too.

I made no obligation or promise to Shout Factory.  So, please don't throw you Rugrats referances in my face.  What, I'm supposed to feel guilty because Shout Factory let you down?  I don't think so.

RE: To Brian
As I said before, like talking to a wall. If you don't "geddit" by now, you likely never will. But let's try one last time anyway...

Nobody said you were solely responsible. It was clearly stated it was you and others who share your philosophy that are to blame. You and others LIKE you. Shout Factory did nothing to "screw" anyone. They attempted to give the fans a quality product of an obscure series. Sales did not warrant continuing that release. So rather than leave it unfinished, they sub-licensed the series to Mill Creek so it could be completed in a lower quality, cheaply packaged set. Better that than nothing.

Again, it was not economically feasible to put all the time and expense into creating a complete series release of a show that has such a limited fanbase. C.O.P.S. is not Transformers or G.I. Joe. To equate it to releases like those is unrealistic. Mill Creek follows a much different business model than Shout, so they can put out cheaply produced complete releases of obscure shows like that with little to no loss. Shout provides higher quality products, and as such has higher overhead expenses in producing such sets. It is not about "not caring about the consumer." It is simple dollars and cents. It is a business. The purpose of a business is to make money. If a title is not bringing in enough to justify the expense of further releases, it is discontinued. How is this complicated, exactly? What part of this extraordinarily simple concept is eluding your understanding?

Example: There was once a company called BCI Eclipse. They released most of the Filmation catalog of animated titles, along with many others, in beautifully packaged, extras-laden complete series sets. Some of these sold very well, most of them did not. Fans were overjoyed at how much they "cared about consumers" by offering such wonderful sets of all those great old shows. They went out of business in less than two years. If Shout did what you suggest with every show they license, they would tank just as fast as BCI did.

The way Shout DOES do things makes perfect sense, and as a result we get plenty of quality releases of old, obscure shows. Are some of them left incomplete? Of course. But Shout remains, and CONSTANTLY looks for ways to get us, the fans, MORE of the shows we want. Whether that be through in-house releases or sub-licensing to companies like Mill Creek, they go OUT OF THEIR WAY to give us whiny fanboys what we want. And all ungrateful people like you can do is moan and complain when you don't get what you want, instead of actually appreciating what they DO for you.

Shout doesn't care about consumers, eh? Well let's see. FIRST they try to give us a high quality, deluxe release of a show. If that doesn't work out, they bump it down to Shout Select status to reduce overhead, but still give us a quality product. If THAT doesn't work, they sub-license to Mill Creek (sometimes) to at least allow us to get the rest of the series, even if the trade-off is lower quality, cheap packaging and barebones. That is ALL done by Shout. If they were nothing but the money-grubbing corporate whores you seem to think they are, they'd stop at phase 1 since it's the phase where they would stand to make the most money. But they don't. They bend over backwards to give fans as much as they possibly can, starting with top tier quality releases then bumping it down if sales don't meet expectations.

But the bottom line is, they TRY. They tried with C.O.P.S., it tanked at every step. So that left two options - sub-license out to Mill Creek for a cheap-o releae just to get it DONE, or leave it in limbo forever. We COULD HAVE had the whole set as a top tier trio of releases, but sales didn't warrant it. Should you be thanking Shout? ABSOLUTELY. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have it in ANY form. Period. Show me ANY other company that goes to anywhere NEAR that level of effort to please the fans. I'll save you the trouble - there aren't any.

The blame being cast upon you and those like you is valid. The blatant hate you are spewing toward Shout is not, and only serves to clearly indicate how little you actually understand how these things work. It IS the fault of people like you who chose to wait for a complete series set, with no regard for the fact that their lack of support for the existing releases killed any chance of that happening.

Finally, don't lecture US about being "true fans." I own both Shout volumes of C.O.P.S. As do most, if not all, of the others posting in this thread. I did my part to support the releases as they came out, voting with my consumer dollars to see it completed. And you know what? I'll be buying BOTH of the Mill Creek releases as well. Not to mention I spent an entire WEEK of my show discussing all aspects of C.O.P.S. So don't talk to me about being a "true fan." I did my part, and will continue to do so for ALL shows I love.

Hopefully this will finally clarify things for you.

RE: C.O.P.S.

From Brian in another thread:

"Still, there have been other titles where we've waited to score a hit before releasing them.  One good example, for instance, could be Ironside.  This is a series we love and enjoy releasing them.  They sell, but not well enough to make them no-brainers for further releases.  But when we had hits with, say, Transformers and G.I. Joe last year, it opened up an opportunity to spend a little bit on titles that we love but aren't expecting gigantic hits with.  We can continue to do that, as we are with the upcoming Ironside S4 set, until it starts getting too cost prohibitive again.  But this requires acquiring additional titles from studios that become slamdunk successes for us.  The more success we have with titles like Transformers and G.I. Joe, the more we can afford to take risks on our passion projects."

Ironside has gotten two releases with Shout! Select despite not being a good seller.  With only one release to go, it would have been nice if C.O.P.S. could have been finished by Shout!, but apparrantly it was no one's "passion project."  I used to track C.O.P.S. Volume 2 sales via Amazon and E-bay as much as someone could and it sold as well as most others.  As I've said in the past, I know specific numbers can't be discussed, but I'd like to know C.O.P.S. Volume 2's sale rankings over its first six months compared to other Shout! Select titles. If it didn't sell well, then a great majority of Shout! Select titles sold around its time didn't sell well.  At least we are getting it finished through Mill Creek, although Mill Creek has strangely not announced anything lately despite saying the first volume would have a January release, so I am wondering what is up with that.  Hopefully, there are no roadblocks.

RE: C.O.P.S.
Passion doesn't pay the bills.  And I think it's pretty safe to say that Ironside, while not a MEGA seller like some other titles, still has enough of a fan base to support the Shout Select titles and warrant them being continued.  Plus it had several seasons, and 30 years on top of that to build a fan base.<p/>

While Shout Select does allow for more obscure title to get a nice release, it's still about dollars and cents despite how passionate one producer or another may be about the show.  Just because they can do more with Shout Select doesn't mean they can just put out whatever they want regardless of expense due to having a couple of huge hits under their belt.  They still have to be picky to some degree.  I think it's safe to say that C.O.P.S. tanked HARD otherwise it wouldn't have been bumped to sub-license status so quickly.  While Ironside is clearly doing well enough that it can be continued as a Select title.

RE: C.O.P.S.
C.O.P.S. Volume 2 was consistently outselling Ironside Season 3 on E-bay (where pure numbers are available) and Amazon when I was tracking.  Heck, looking at Amazon.com now, C.O.P.S. Volume 2 is ranked #35,289 while Ironside Season 3 is ranked #48,065 despite the fact that a cheaper version of C.O.P.S. will be available soon.  Ironside may be more well-known, but it was a show from the 60s and the consumers that buy the most DVDs don't fall into the age range that the typical Ironside fan is in and it isn't like the show was shown on a kid heavy channel like Nickelodeon in reruns growing up.

I'm just glad we'll be getting C.O.P.S. released completely. Shout! tried their best, you can tell it was difficult when it took 4 years to release Volume 2 after 1. Some of my favorite episodes are presented in the last 1/3 of the show, I'm really looking forward to this release. Will buy both Millcreek volumes and DEFINITELY do not plan on selling my Shout! ones. EDIT: I also wanted to add, continuing on Zerak's point. We've been quite fortunate to have someone like Brian spend his time with us on these forums. Dealing with customers is never easy.

You shouldn't lump all customers together. Cartoon obsessed adults are hard to deal with but most casual consumers would just be happy the show is being released at all. I've never seen c.o.p.s. before but once mill creek releases the whole series at an affordable price i'll be checking it out. I'm sure many others will do the same as well. Maybe they could release the whole series of jayce and the wheeled warriors if c.o.p.s. sells well enough.

I got the same e-mail yesterday... "Thank you for contacting us with your question. We are working on creating the necessary materials this month to release the final 33 episodes on September 13, 2011. We hope we can count on your support for the release."

RE: C.O.P.S.
You should do a video review of it since it finally completes C.O.P.S. on DVD.  I get mine in the mail Monday-ish.  I hope all the previously unreleased episodes are in good shape.

I got the set in the mail on Saturday.  The Case of Mace's Romance sounds better on this set compared to the Shout! set.  The only extras on the set are a few slides of art and a Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors trailer (along with the cover).

Gah, I'm still waiting for mine to arrive.  Pre-ordered via a reliable ebay seller, but they didn't get them in until after the release date...grrrrr....

I did notice a few authoring errors in the first seven minutes of "The Case of the Iron C.O.P.S. and Wooden Crooks."  They are pretty short, but still annoying to have on there.

RE: C.O.P.S.

hello

just got today the c.o.p.s volume 2 from Mill Creek. i was shocked by the quality. its really bad. its like they used some kind of a cheap filter in order to get rid of the interlacing. it seems like they used only 1 field of the picture instead of the 2 and thats why the picture looks like that. (its much worst than just compression artifacts)

i guess i will have to buy the Shout! volume 2 in order to get at least some of the episodes properly.

can anyone plz confirm that Shout! volume 2 has a better quality than this? its like thier first volume of C.O.P.S?

only interlacing probelms and thats it?

hope u can help me

thanks in advance

Ziv

I have both the Shout Factory and Mill Creek sets, and Shout's sets are VASTLY superior quality.  Buy with confidence, they are superior in every way.
