RE: brian
Well, there are a couple of reasons for that, actually.  Number one is the research that goes into finding out if a series is truly in the public domain.  Some many believe are, actually aren't.  Second, securing those masters.  Though the property itself may be PD, the owners of the masters we use expect to be compensated, so the question becomes "how much do we think those masters are worth?"  Thirdly, most of the PD shows have already been released in some form or another.  Knowing that we'd be doing a quality job to most of these shows (i.e. getting the best possible masters, doing bonus material, releasing them as box sets rather than single discs, etc.), we'd be charging more than most people could already simply buy the single discs out there.  So we'd be competing pretty heavily with lesser quality releases and, in some cases, losing due to the cost.

We have researched a number of PD options and aren't done.  But we want to make sure we distinguish ourselves from those PD houses out there.
