Volume 10 was an exception, that went OOP within a few months..but the others were out for awhile..
Im sure one day Shout might go back to release volumes over again or put out Volumes that Rhino messed up on like Dead Talk Back and The Atomic Brain (missed the stinger)

They currently have Volume 11 up for download on iTunes, and that was one of the Rhino releases. Of course, all those episodes are also public domain, but still... |

Having a volume with eps like I Accuse My Parents, Mitchell, Wild World of Batwoman, and Red Zone Cuba would make for a decent set!
I hope SF can also start attaining Rhino titles to put on iTunes; I love having my fave eps on my ipod!

As so many have pointed out here, everyone really wants to "complete" their collection as best they can as quickly as they can, so I'm afraid going back and redoing older titles would get people a little antsy, not to mention vocal. For now, we'll stick to releasing titles you've not been able to own on DVD before.
But we'll see about some of those more popular OOP titles somewhere down the road.

Reprints of out of print shows would only be welcome if they were in addition to the regular releases of new, unreleased episodes, not in place of them. The ONE exception to this might be Amazing Colossal Man because sadly that one went out of print while it was still only on VHS and it never made it to the DVD stage. It also happens to be one rocking great episode, one of the best ever to me.

I can wait...and I agree with Brian 100%...getting those unreleased titles should be the priority ...

See, we may have the license to MST3K, but like us, Rhino also had to license the individual films, which they did for a certain number of years. While they may not be able to release anymore MST3K titles, they still have the exclusive rights to certain movies. So we can't actually release any titles they still hold those rights for.

Member since: 4/25/2010 | | RE: Old MST3K volumes that are out of print | That's a real shame you guys would have to go through all that red tape to release those classic eps. Definitely some of the now out-of-print packs deserve to be in print (Especially Volumes 4, 8 and 9).
Oh well. Keep up the good work with what you've put out so far. You've covered plenty of material from the show that a lot of people have been wishing for (Final Sacrifice episode being the most obvious point in case).
An idea I had for these lost sets (say that you were able to re-release them along with all the other eps Rhino put out--even the ones that went out of print quickly) was to repackage them as 5-episode remasters with each pack getting an episode that was either released individually or on the Essentials pack (with the exception of maybe making Volume 1 a 6-episode remaster).
The idea is something like this:
Vol. 1-add Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and Eegah
Vol. 2-add Red Zone Cuba
Vol. 3-add The Beginning of the End
Vol. 4-add The Amazing Colossal Man
Vol. 5-add Manos: the Hands of Fate
Vol. 6-add The Hellcats
Vol. 7-add The Wild World of Batwoman
Vol. 8-add I Accuse My Parents
Vol. 9-add The Crawling Hand
Vol. 10-include both Godzilla vs Megalon and the Giant Gila Monster
Vol. 11-add The Brain that Wouldn't Die
Vol. 12-add Mitchell |
