Emergency! Season 6 from Shout! Factory?

Now that it appears Universal has pulled the plug on Emergency!, I was curious if Shout!, which has picked up Emergency!'s sistor show Adam-12, was considering licensing it to  finish off the last season and then the 6 tv movies? Would be ashame to see things stall out so close to the end.

Fans also would love to see some bonus material, such as the crossover episode of the short lived Sierra series that had Johnny and Roy (Emergency!'s two paramedics) on it.

I think it's excellent and one of the highlights of television from the 1970s.

In addition, it maintained it's quality through it's 6 seasons and post season 6 movies. Something that is somewhat a rarity in television series that stay on the air for quite a few years. There wasn't much evolution at all, but it started out so great that it hardly mattered.

Where did you get the info that Universal has abonded Emergency?  That makes no sense with only one season to go.  Please give a link showing you source.

RE: Emergency! Season 6 from Shout! Factory?

I never said they had abandoned Emergency!, I just said that it appeared so. Sorry for the confusion, but my post and what follows is merely speculation based off such things as releases of the seasons up to now and patterns I've noticed from Universal. Also, in reality, the end is still two season releases away. Those six post season 6 tv movies basically represent another 12 episode release due to the movies being the length of two normal episodes (The movies total about the same amount of content as in season 1 actually). Too much content to expect to see included with season 6.

Ignoring the season 1 release that happened in the month of August, the series has had a predictable release schedule.

Season 2: Announced - 11/21/2005 Released - 2/07/2006

Season 3: Announced - 11/28/2006 Released - 2/13/2007

Season 4: Announced - 10/16/2007 Released - 1/29/2008

Season 5: Announced - 10/22/2008 Released - 1/20/2009

While it's possible they're returning to a timetable similar to season 2 & 3, they've announced several DVD sets for early 2010 during the same time period they had been announcing Emergency! the past couple of years and it always seemed like Universal would announce their next wave of releases at the same time.

Given that they've already announced at least a partial (Perhaps full) lineup of their releases for late January/early February 2010 when we expected to see season 6 released, the rocky history of Universal releases of Jack Webb shows (Although since season 2, Emergency! has seemed fairly safe), the economy, declining DVD sales in general, the decline in care given to season 4 and 5, I think there's room for legitimate concern and not too early to think about alternate methods that we could perhaps see happen to get this finished (Shout makes sense due to their committment to Adam-12, a series Universal abandoned as not financially viable back when season 1 of both shows were released in 2005).

Perhaps we'll get word soon of a release, or perhaps their release plans have oddly changed for the series late in it's run. But it's quite likely it's stalled I'd say. At least the episodes have been transferred already for season 6, it's production ready besides creating boxart and slipart, modifying last year's menus, and actually manufacturing the thing.

I saw it, I was one of those worried Emergency! fans that had contacted him to inquire about the status of the 6th season.

Was nice to hear that it was still planned to be released. Looking forward to adding it to my collection, I love this series.
