A&E's Live by Request series (including the sought-after Phil Collins special)

I personally would love to see more of these releases... and I've waited for YEARS for Phil Collins'.  Brian and Shout, is this a possibility for you?

Agreed totally for the Phil Collins A&E "Live By Request"! I can't believe it hasn't ben released yet. I watched it when first aired and have been waiting to buy it in DVD. That was always my favorite episode of this series. Does Shout have to deal with the record company as well to get this released? I know several other "LBR" have been released, but not this one.

The sad thing about Phil Collins' is that over the years... I've seen a number of bootleg copies - more than any episode of "Live by Request".

Hope you guys can push a commercial release along.  It was one of the most entertaining concert performances I watched in a long time.

Brian, could you shed some light on what will it take (for any distributor) to tackle Phil Collins'?

First of all, it would take negotiations with Virgin, Atlantic.  They own the music.  The second thing is that, unfortunately, concert DVDs really don't sell well at all.  Let me preface this by saying that I'm exactly this kind of person, but it takes a special kind of person to not just want to pop a CD in or to press play on their MP3 player, but to want to put a live concert into their DVD/Blu-ray players.  Most people-i.e. not uber fans or audiophiles--listen to music for atmosphere and are satisfied with a CD vs. a live concert DVD.

Does that make this an impossible request?  Absolutely not.  But terms have to be reasonable, due to the low expected sales.  And for an artist like Phil Collins, I can't see them wanting to take less than they feel he's worth.

I fall out of the exampled uber fan or audiophile, but love a good live concert and upgraded one last year: Michael Bublé: Caught in the Act as a BD Amazon Exclusive.  I understand what your saying as I know a few people who prefer to do the same, and know some others like me who are not easily categorized.  So I like to think there's some diversity in there somewhere.

Thanks Brian for clearing this up and putting it in perspective.
