Any news on Jem and other Sunbow/Hasbro shows?
I would assume the Transformers and G.I. Joe sales would be strong enough to persuade Hasbro to release other Sunbow shows. Is there any updated on get the other Sunbow titles?
Thanks

That would be great. There were so many great Sunbow shows. Anyone remember these classics?

* Captain Qbort and the Kinky Kids: A show about a sea captain and his crew of Combs

* Twittlebottoms Adventures: An 18th Century Robot tries to open A peach farm. IN 3D!

* C.A.R.S: It was a bout a team of sentient cars, who all had their wheels removed and cannot go anywhere

* Telekon 1: Most notable for being pulled early in ints run after the infamous "glue-orgy" sequence was deemed wildly innapropriate for a childrens cartoon. Tipper Gore played some of this before Congress.

* Baby Jets: The military takes babies and makes them into Jets. Later adapted into the hit move "Three Weddings and a Funeral"

* Transphormers: The "Mottobots", Robots from the planet "Kybertron" arive on the planet "Bearth" and must fight the "Tricksacons". Horrible concept.

RE: Any news on Jem and other Sunbow/Hasbro shows?

Hi,

I read an article the other day saying that Hasbro may be planning on relaunching three new shows based on their products Transformers, GI Joe and My Little Pony on the new Hasbro Network due out on 2010. Apparently, on Nov. 5, the announcement will be made to investors, in more detail.

With regards to JEM, I am a huge fan and was told by a Shout Factory rep (not Brian) at last years Botcon, that Shout Factory did inquire on attaining permission to release the show on DVD, but Hasbro decline. The Shout Factory rep went on to mention that this maybe due to the fact that they may have plans for the product in the near future. I'm hopeful that Hasbro has plans to update the show in some form or another, so that it can garner some popularity to justify a release of the original series. Hasbro may have been reluctant to authorize a DVD release due to a lack of popularity for the show in current pop culture.

Hi Folks,

Just a quick update. Per the webcast from Hasbro to their investors, the Hasbro/Discovery Kids Network is currently working on 12 new shows based on some of their existing product lines. Margaret Loesh, who worked on 80'st favorites like G.I. Joe, Transformers, X-Men, Smurfs etc., is the CEO in charge of the new network. Two shows mentions by name were Micronauts and Beyblade. Since I believe I only heard a portion of the webcast, I cannot confirm other brands included in the 12 new shows currently in prodcution, other than the two mentioned. Although, I'm almost certain that G.I. Joe and the Transformers brands are part of the lineup. Also, the new network is confirmed to showcase some of Hasbro's more popular shows from the past. I'll will continue to update the forum, as more information becomes available. Thanks

Margaret Loesh was also executive producer on Sunbow's Jem.

The only show they really talked about for the channel was My Little Pony. Mostly they used it as an example of how they are developing these shows, and that Hasbro put Lauren Faust in charge. Lauren was heavily involved in Powerpuff Girls and Fosters Imaginary Friends. Other then that, the titles are being kept top secret, because they are afraid for competition. And it sounds like 80% of the channel schedule is lined up. There was hint to a Transformers, saying it would lead up to the next theatrical release. Of course they said Transformers and G.I. Joe series would be developed from day one.

Only other brands talked about was Tonka, Strawberry Short Cake, and Care Bears -- but not necessarily for the TV channel. They are pushing Strawberry Short Cake hard in 2010, and Care Bears in 2011.

I would like to see Jem get another release.  I totally missed out on the Rhino DVDs.
