The Fall Guy
It would be great if Shout! could pick up the rights to this classic 80's series that Fox dropped the ball on.  It would be a great pairing with Simon & Simon.

Please bring "Starman" the 1986-87 tv series to DVD. Please bring Gimme A Break seasons 2 & beyond to DVD. Please bring Silver Spoons seasons 2 & beyond to DVD.

RE: The Fall Guy

I think that if anyone can be blamed for the failure of  "The Fall Guy" season 1, it's Fox themselves, especially for not bothering to secure the original broadcast music (the most annoying example being Paul Williams and his rendition of Patsy Cline's "Crazy" being deleted from the pilot. For the DVD version, they deleted his scenes, replaced the music, and deleted his name from the credits to make it seem like he never appeared in it).

Someone on IMDB claimed that either The Patsy Cline estate wouldn't allow that song to be used, or that Mr. Williams requested to have his appearance in that episode cut, but who are we to believe that either possibility is true? Neither party had any problem with the song and Mr. Williams' appearances being seen and heard in the syndicated version, so why on Earth it was a completely different story for the DVD version is beyond me.

And just to prove my point that the scene was intact in the syndicated version, type in "Fall Guy Paul Williams" in the YouTube search engine, and you'll see it. It was taped off of WATL in Georgia.

Yeah Fox totally screwed up the S1 set.  I think the blurring of Paul Williams was just another example of Fox's laziness/cheapness in securing rights since just about every other song is replaced.

RE: The Fall Guy
I owned the first set for a while.  And I would love to get my hands on the series.  I think the bonus features were about as good as they were going to get, in terms of content, but I bet I could whip something together for subsequent volumes.  Sadly, research on sales of the first set turned up even fewer than we'd need to make it a success, so I'm not sure we'd be able to pick it up.  Maybe I'm wrong.  I just seem to remember looking at the numbers and saying, "eeek."  Still, that was a while ago.

RE: The Fall Guy
The bonus features were great on the first set.  However, I think Fox charged a relatively high price for a set that had replaced music (without a warning).  I wish you guys could pick it up too.  Maybe you could take a second look at the numbers but of course I don't expect Shout! to pick up a series that didn't do well on its first release.  I just think there may be reasons behind the poor sales figures.  Thanks as always Brian.

Brian, if it helps, Markie Post ("Terri Michaels") joins the cast in the second season, and is considered among the majority of fans to be the season "The Fall Guy" took off.

Must have done pretty good in Britain as there is a region 2 set of season 2 which I own.

"God chose those whom the world considers absurd to shame the wise; he singled out the weak of the world to shame the strong. He chose the world's lowborn and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were something." (1 Cor. 1: 27,28)
