"In Search of..." (best of DVDs)

Sorry, but I just had to repost this. The last got erased when the boards changed. I know people have recommended this before, and Brian has second thoughts, as some of these mysteries have been solved, or new evidence found. Like SHROUD OF TURIN, and TITANIC.

But I still have to recommend, if no Season DVDs can be released, then either singles of a few unsolved episodes. You know, see how they sell, and if well, then more, or possibly Season DVDs. But if not that, then do what UNSOLVED MYSTERIES did. A series of box sets, Aliens, Ancient Worlds, Monsters, Ghosts, Scary Locations, and so forth.

Ones that have been solved don't really need a DVD release, if that's what Shout worries about. These particular ones would be out of date. But it's a great show, great show from it's time. And besides UNSOLVED MYSTERIES, TV shows about the unknown can't be any better.

Besides, Leonard Nimoy can help sell it with STAR TREK fans. Also, maybe get him to do a new interview, talking about making the show, and his personal favorite episodes.

Single DVDs with like 4 episodes each or box sets with BEST OF selections.

RE: "In Search of..." (best of DVDs)
Totally agree.  I'd buy this show in any form.  It's pretty obvious fascination with the supernatural/unsolved/unexplained events is still pretty popular.  All you have to do is look at shows like Monsterquest, etc.

Please bring "Starman" the 1986-87 tv series to DVD. Please bring Gimme A Break seasons 2 & beyond to DVD. Please bring Silver Spoons seasons 2 & beyond to DVD.

RE: "In Search of..." (best of DVDs)
It's been almost two years since someone bumped this item. Does anyone have an answer as to why Shout! hasn't negotiated a release of these shows on DVD? Is it a lack of good-quality masters? Problems with rights? It just seems that many in my generation (born in the 60's and grew up watching TV in the '70's and '80's) are old enough to be interested in a nostalgic look back at a very fun series. The '70's were a time when America was fascinated, even obsessed, with the occult and the paranormal. In Search Of was perhaps the prime example of this, and (imo) was one of the best-produced series of its kind. Regardless of whether the mysteries are still relevant, the show itself is a fun time capsule of the '70's, and it's so fun to go back and watch shows that I obsessed over as a child. Most, if not all, of these episodes have been uploaded, in pretty rough quality, to YouTube, but I'd much rather get my hands on a higher-quality copy, perhaps even with liner notes or a new documentary (before Nimoy departs this earth). Are there any signs this will ever happen, or is the reason they've never been released the same today as when the OP wrote this in 2009?

This show is a very fond memory. Nimoy, the theme, the mysteries, all were great and it was a show that I looked forward to. I think that others of my generation (born '68) will feel the same. An easy pick from my perspective, particularly with Nimoy having recent exposure from Fringe and the new Trek. Bring the DVDs! Season or partial. Maybe some of Nimoy's other 70s work like The Alpha Caper could get a look too.
