Member since: 8/8/2009 | | VAMPIRE CIRCUS | | This movie is by far the greatest Hammer horror film ever made!! And yet it still has never been released on DVD in Region 1. I know there are plenty of people out there who simply say to purchase a region-free player, but I (and many others I've read) have said "why should we have to?" I do not know what the hold up is on releasing this on Region 1 for those of us in North America, but if Shout! Factory can look into this title (I've read that possibly MGM owns the distribution rights) and get the ball rolling toward a quality disc release of this fan favorite, I know it will make thousands upon thousands of people EXTREMELY THRILLED!! |

MGM owns this baby right now, so as long as Shout! is licensing stuff from them, I hope they can get this Hammer classic out on Region 1 DVD, as well as TWINS OF EVIL and HANDS OF THE RIPPER. MGM has new HD transfers ready to go!

Member since: 8/8/2009 | | RE: VAMPIRE CIRCUS | I am thrilled to see another fan of Vampire Circus respond to this thread!! This movie is LONG overdue for a Region 1 release here in North America. My hope is since MGM has not released it on Region 1 to date, that Shout! Factory can utilize their relationship with MGM, license this film and release it for the thousands of fans in the U.S. who are still waiting. |

Member since: 10/22/2009 | | RE: VAMPIRE CIRCUS | Yeah, I am a huge Hammer fan, and CIRCUS is a fave. I even got to show a 35mm print of it at the drive-in movie fest I organize, but it of course was the U.S. PG version. I'm sure MGM's new transfer of CIRCUS looks great; I did catch some of their HD transfer of TWINS OF EVIL when it was on (the now defunct) Monster HD last year, and it looked too stunning for words, much better than the other-region discs out there (yio. The MGM owned Hammer films are just crying for a DVD release, and with the transfers ready to go, I hope Shout! can come to the rescuue. Here are some other MGM owned horror titles (most of them with new HD transfers) that I'd love shout to get a hold of:
BURN WITCH BURN, THE CRIMSON CULT, THE BLACK SLEEP, BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW, MASTER OF THE WORLD, BLACK SABBATH (AIP version), QUEEN OF BLOOD, BLOOD BATH, GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE, BLOOD AND LACE, HORROR HOUSE, OCTO-MAN, DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN (new transfer done, not the one used for the Troma disc), THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN, CURSE OF THE FACELESS MAN, THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN, DR. GOLDFOOT AND THE GIRL BOMBS, OLD DRACULA, THE DEVIL WITHIN HER, VOYAGE INTO SPACE and others. |

Member since: 8/8/2009 | | RE: VAMPIRE CIRCUS | | The fact that there is a high quality transfer available for this film, only fuels me more to encourage Shout! to contact MGM and get the ball rolling toward a high quality Region 1 disc release!! As I stated in my original thread, thousands of people have been waiting and will leap at the opportunity to purchase this on DVD!! Any other fans of Hammer horror out there? Please, Shout! Factory! Acquire this one and as long as you market it well and get the word out there, it will sell quickly! |
