Anymore 80s toons going to be released by Shout in the near future?

This is directed to a Brian or another Shout rep...I've notice Shout! turning out quite a large volume of live action series releases this year, but not really anything on the animation front outside of Tranformers and G.I. Joe.  Now that the work is finished on those two shows, is there anything on the agenda in the future concerning releasing more toons from the 80s?  Particularly ones that haven't been released on DVD before? Thanks.

ps. I had a similar thread last year, but it has long since been buried.

I guess it would depend on your definition of "near future."  We have no immediate plans, but are in negotiations for a handful of titles that I think people will be pleased with, if we manage to get 'em.  Fingers crossed.

Sounds good to me!  I'm always up for adding some more 80's toons to my DVD collection.  They just don't make 'em like they used to!

That sounds good.  By near future, I'm probably talking like a release by first quarter of 2010.

Question is... How many will actually be finished? If they don't sell well, will it just be taken out on the customers WHO DID support Shout's products, only to not see the fruits of the risk they take banking on Shout?

Personally, I think it would be better for Shout (and the fans), if Shout would release fewer shows total, but complete the ones they start.  The sales will probably be about the same either way (whether they release season 2 of an unpopular show or start a new unpopular show, neither is going to break the charts), but this would help to build brand loyalty.

The main problem Shout faces is that the fanbase for most of these shows is too small for a DVD set to be viable, in order to make money Shout needs people who haven't seen the show before to pick up the set.  Brand recognition is one of the main things that will cause people to gamble on an unknown product, you could compare for example Disney's localization of the Studio Ghibli films - They were pretty successful at bringing those movies to the west because people trust Disney.
