The Amazing Race and Survivor
Paramount seems to have given up on releasing these great reality shows on DVD. Am I the only one who wants to relive these competitions? (No music clearance costs!)

RE: The Amazing Race and Survivor
You may actually be!  Kidding, of course, but the truth is that competition shows like these don't survive very long on DVD.  The appeal for most is the exciting week-to-week revelations and, ultimately, seeing who comes out victorious in the end.  Typically, a DVD relies on the vast audience it's already amassed to succeed.  But most viewers of this kind of show aren't interested in regular replays.

One could argue that we could be selling to the folks hoping to catch up, but unlike a series like Lost or Heroes, with on-going stories from season to season, one could easily pick each season up from its premiere and watch without needing the benefit of back story.

It would appear, from those numbers, that there is little audience for competition shows on DVD.  Doesn't mean there aren't some worth releasing.  Doesn't even mean there aren't those Shout! Factory would like to release in the future.  But we'll have to see.

The Amazing Race is my favorite.  I re-watch them when GSN airs them.  It surprises me how I forget some of the teams.  I usually remember who was the first eliminated and who won but forget everything else.  I have always been interested in DVD releases for A.R.

I would definitely buy any seasons of The Amazing Race that were released on DVD! It's my favorite reality show of all time!
