Not sure if having only eight episodes that it will ever make it to DVD, but I guess anything is possible if enough people out there are willing to purchase the set. |

Member since: 8/8/2009 | | RE: Young Americans | | I just recently checked TV Shows on DVD and found that Young Americans is ranked as the 63rd (which is very good) TV series people would like to have released on DVD. It's great that a series that only lasted a few months made such an impact that it's a sought after show to be released on DVD. It's too bad the network cancelled it so early. I wonder what the reason for this was. Low ratings? A bit of an oxymoron, considering the numerous people who want those 8 episodes on DVD. What does Brian Ward and Shout! think about the numbers? Is it worth putting maybe a two-disc set together? |

Katherine Moennig on Three Rivers and Ian Somerhalder on The Vampire Diaries. With their current shows doing well, I think Shout! Factory should acquire the license from Sony and release this on DVD. It was only 8 episodes, but it ranks very high with people on the TVShowsOnDVD website. |

Member since: 8/8/2009 | | RE: Young Americans | | I just wanted to bring this thread and series back to the attention of Shout! Factory. Although this series only lasted two months, it is a very popular show that people would love to own on DVD, ranked 59 on the TVShowsOnDVD website. Also, it is owned by Sony and Shout! Factory has been having great success with licensing shows from this company and releasing shows that had yet to be released or had been stalled! Please release this short-lived, but great TV series, Shout!. |

In fact, I was kinda surprised Sony didn't release it as a bonus on the "Dawson's Creek" box sets, but they crammed the episodes on the discs, so there was definitely not enough room (they crammed 22-24 HOUR LONG episodes on just FOUR SINGLE SIDED DISCS!). |

crispycomments Member since: 5/11/2010 | | RE: Young Americans | I'd like to buy it on DVD too. YA made me a fan of Katherine Moennig and Ian Somerhalder - they were so great in it. And considering they're both more well-known now thanks to The L Word, Lost and The Vampire Diaries ...it's weird Sony hasn't tried to cash in by releasing this. Also the Dawson's Creek connection, of course ...and Ian's working for Kevin Williamson now too! (Maybe they'd be willing to do interviews for/to promote YA DVDs?) So much tie-in/cash-in potential. ;)
But I'm kind of glad Sony hasn't released it since they replaced most of the DC songs and they'd probably do the same for Young Americans. Those eps *need* Nick Drake and David Gray! So, keep ignoring the value of this show, Sony. And please let Shout Factory take it off your hands. :) |
