TV Movie "Killing Mr. Griffin" - Question to Brian Ward
A few years ago, this TV movie based on a young adult novel by Lois Duncan was released on DVD.  As of now, it has been discontinued.  This was a great suspense drama that I believe even Lois herself has said was one of the better movie adaptations of her novels.  The original DVD simply had the movie on it without any bonus features (something seen very often when TV movies are released onto DVD).  Is this a movie Shout! Factory could look into acquiring and re-releasing on DVD (with even a few little bonus features added)?

Brian,

Any thoughts to re-releasing this on DVD?  Another of Lois Duncan's suspense books was made into a made for television movie, Stranger with My Face, starring Alexz Johnson and Catherine Hicks was aired on Lifetime Movie Network in late August.  Any chance of looking into a DVD release of that one as well?

I'll certainly look into it.  Wasn't Summer of Fear also turned into a movie?

Yes.  Summer of Fear was directed by Wes Craven and starred Linda Blair.  It aired as a TV movie back in the late 70's.  It was released on DVD a few years ago, but I believe has also been discontinued.  Again, I think the DVD release was the movie only with no bonus features.

Brian,

Just wanted to check back in with you in regards to a re-release of  TV Movies - Killing Mr. Griffin and Summer of Fear on DVD.  These both have been released on barebones DVDs, but have since been discontinued.  Also, another TV movie based on a Lois Duncan suspense novel, Stranger with My Face, that LMN aired back in August.  This was a great movie and should see a DVD release as well.  Have you had a chance to look into any of these?  Any plans?

Brian,

Any news to report on a re-release of Killing Mr. Griffin and Summer of Fear and a release of Stranger with My Face on DVD?  All TV movies based on suspense novels by Lois Duncan.

Another TV movie that was based on a suspense novel by Lois Duncan is Don't Look Behind You, starring Patrick Duffy and Pam Dawber.  I would love to see a release of this one and Stranger With My Face, in addition to the re-release of Summer of Fear and Killing Mr. Griffin.  Also, any bonus features on these would be awesome as well!  Please, Shout!

Any thoughts, ideas, or news from Shout! on re-releasing Summer of Fear and Killing Mr. Griffin?  In addition to a DVD release of Don't Look Behind You and Stranger With My Face.  I read on the website of the author who wrote the books these movies were based from, that two more of her books have been optioned to be produced into films.  Would love to see some bonus features as well!!

No word on anything, yet.  Most of the time, each title takes time to research rights, etc.  Never a quick and easy process, I'm afraid.

Lois Duncan is updating her novel Killing Mr. Griffin (originally published in 1978) to fit with 21st century readers.  It's due to be released in early October.  I would love to see the TV movie that was based on the book get a re-release sometime soon.  A remastered copy with bonus features with cast and maybe even Lois Duncan herself talking about the book and movie adaptation!  I hope Shout! can acquire and release this one!

I think Artisan Entertainment was the last company to own distribution rights to Summer of Fear and Killing Mr. Griffin.   Both DVDs are discontinued so it makes me wonder if their ownership rights have expired.  Stranger with My Face was distributed by Lifetime Movie Network, but I don't know if that was to release it to television only or if it also includes any DVD distribution as well.

The novel Killing Mr. Griffin is getting a re-release in early October.  Any word from Shout! on a release of a special edition DVD of the movie?  Would love to have cast and crew interviews, as well as, an interview with the author, Lois Duncan.

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in releasing this title at this time.
