Knots Landing Seasons 3-14
Knots Landing fans are currently in limbo as we continue to wait on Warner Bros. to let the American public know whether they will be releasing the rest of the series.  Sales had to have been much, much higher than the Season 1 set, which I agree with the numerous people who have said that Season 1 was not marketed well.  A travesty to a series that lasted fourteen seasons.  A few posts have been put out on the Knots Landing forum that have generated the idea for another company to acquire the DVD rights and release the remaining seasons.  Shout! Factory was included in that.  How about it, Brian.  If Warner Bros. is unwilling to release any more seasons, could you step up to the plate for the thousands of Knots Landing fans and release this series?  A series that not only had longevity, but superb acting and writing.  It's part of TV history.

Well, s1 was a much DIFFERENT show. Not as soapy. No Abby. I think that had SOMETHING to do with its sales.

I'm shocked it hasnt gotten more attention. I was never into DALLAS, DYNASTY or FALCON CREST.... but KNOTS LANDING was a great, "thinking man's" soap. It deserves release. I hope at the VERY least, we get the Ciji Dunne saga.

Well, it seems that Warner Bros. has stalled Knots Landing again for DVD release!  An announcement was made that they plan to release season one of Falcon Crest sometime next year, but no plans on Knots Landing!  As usual, Warner Bros. is being vague when they say no plans.  This may mean they have decided not to continue releasing the series or it is stalled for an indefinite period of time.  Funny thing that it was Warner Bros. who stated that if sales of season two were good, then it would secure the release of season three as well as season one of Falcon Crest.  I know WB is normally stingy with their property, but PLEASE Shout! Factory, look into acquiring this series and giving the thousands of fans the remaining seasons!

With Warner Brothers stalling Knots Landing on DVD, can Shout! Factory see if they can acquire the rights to release the third season on DVD. I can't understand why nearly all of Dallas will have been released on DVD, when the far better (in my opinion) series Knots Landing hasn't been appreciated as much. It had better writing and acting.

I firmly agree with the previous thread about Knots Landing being a much better TV series than Dallas.  Although, I liked Dallas, I LOVED Knots Landing!  The series was more understood by the average person, because most people do not live like those on Dallas and Dynasty.  The series also outlasted any of the other prime-time dramas (14 seasons), so I am baffled as to how the other shows are getting regular releases (about 2 sets per year).  I do realize Warner holds onto their property with an iron fist, but PLEASE at least attempt to acquire the rights and finish the series for us fans who are waiting impatiently for our Knots!  I don't know what WB's bottom line is for sales, but it may just be unrealistic.

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

I realize that this series is not going to be an enormous seller, considering the majority of those who purchase this series on DVD are likely to be older than 35.  However, there are still thousands of people who are ready and willing to lay down their money for this show as long as season sets continue to be released (preferably 2 sets per year).  The fact that so many shows are being rereleased over and over again, while a series like this that lasted 14 seasons is being abused so terribly is ridiculous.  Knots Landing is not going to sell the way Friends has, but it has a large enough fanbase to support further sets to be released.  PLEASE, Shout! Factory.  Talk to WB about licensing the remaining seasons of this show and release them on DVD!!

With the groundbreaking news that Warner Bros. has licensed two shows to Shout! Factory for release, I hope and pray that Knots Landing is a series WB is willing to license to Shout! if they are no longer interested in releasing the remaining seasons.  Shout! is a great company that will do justice to seasons 3-14.

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14
Please, Shout! Factory release the remainder of Knots Landing on DVD. I know you would do the series justice, based on my previous purchases which were released by yourselves (the second and third seasons of Simon & Simon). If there was a strong possibility of you being able to release at least the third season, could you try and find the full uncut versions of the episodes please. Could the episodes be presented in the following way...

Episode teaser
The infamous scrolling main cast title sequence (which started in season 3 of Knots)
The episode itself, uncut if possible
End credits sequence
A Roundelay Production logo
and most importantly, the yellow/orange Lorimar logo (this season may have been the first one with the registered mark after the Lorimar name).

Finally, could you put a maximum of 4 episodes on each disc, and not cram five episodes on any discs.

We need as many fans as possible to respond to this thread, showing their support for Shout! Factory to hopefully be able to license Knots Landing from Warner Bros. and continue releasing season sets!!  I would even purchase a new season 1 and season 2 set if Shout! obtained those as well and re-released them in higher quality sets.  For me to be able to own the entire series on high quality DVD sets will be a dream come true!

Another Knots fan here, longing for the rest of the series to be released on DVD. Warner Bros has really dropped the ball on this one. I showed the first two seasons to my wife, who had never seen the show, and now she's hooked too.

It would be wonderful to finally have a company that was committed to releasing Knots Landing properly. Warner Brothers think that releasing them 4 years between seasons with no special features will encourage fans to buy, then they complain when sales as supposedly not high enough!

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

Everyone who has posted is completely right...for whatever reason WB has been VERY slow to release season sets of KNOTS LANDING. There was a 3 year gap between the release of seasons one and two and now they seem content to keep further season sets in a state of limbo.

They have NO IDEA how to market the DVDs. A lot of shows get some sort of television, internet, and/or print campaign to promote the title. WB did this with DALLAS, yet they put nearly zero effort into KNOTS.

They seem to think it’s an exact clone of DALLAS and scratch their heads in confusion when seasons one and two did not generate nearly as much as DALLAS has done on DVD.

I truly hope that Shout! Factory is successful in obtaining the rights from WB. Here is my wish list of material I would love to see them release - -

* Original
broadcast versions (NOT syndicated cuts) on single-layer discs

* O
ption to watch the 30-60 second recap of the previous episode that was shown in syndication

* Audio commentaries on key episodes with cast members & series creator David Jacobs

* Deleted scenes (if they exist)

* THE KNOTS LANDING BLOCK PARTY - Series Finale Retrospective (1993)

* The Museum of Television & Broadcast Radio's KNOTS LANDING Panel Discussion (1994)

* KNOTS LANDING: BACK TO THE CUL-DE-SAC - Reunion Miniseries (1997)

* KNOTS LANDING REUNION: TOGETHER AGAIN (2005)

HOLY S##!T!

I had absolutely NO IDEA there was a campaign going on for the continuing of Knots Landing through Shout! SIGN ME UP! But, I'm greedy. I don't want just season by season sets -- I want the complete series in a box set. of course, if you only release the series by season, I'll buy it but damn, what I wouldn't give for a complete series box set.

What's even more wild is, I already have the entire series on video that I taped from Soap.net. It's a pretty good set but I'm starting to get worried that my videos are not holding up to the test of time. I still watch this show from start to finish every other year (it usually takes about 6 months to go through all the episodes -- but then, I'm watching like 2-3 per night, late night) just to make sure the videos are still good but hey, Shout, PLS make this dream come true and release Knots.

What are the chances of getting Shout to experiement with Knots on releasing a complete series set?

I'm replying 2x because if Shout releases Knots, I'll buy 2 copies of the seasons released. One for me to watch and another to keep if something happens to the old set. Yeah, this is the only show ever in the history of television that I want in my library to watch 30 years from now. Knots Landing should be released fully and complete not only for the historic value but also because this show is an inspiration for many of the other shows on tv currently, like Desperate Housewives and needs to be released if only to serve as an inspiration for quality writing and acting for future generations.

Shout Factory.....please get the licensing rights to Knots Landing......Warner Brothers can't seem to get their act together with this series.  Warners just had a chat tonight with The Home Theater Forum.  Questions regarding Knots Landing came up several times.....it's being delayed again.  Shout....just take the show over....and show them how the DVD releases are done.....quickly and what the customer wants.  Your company seems to be the only one who listens and understands how to release T.V. shows on DVD the correct way!!!!

WB stated in the HTF chat that sales for Season 2 were less than expected.  If this is accurate, I believe it is because of an unrealistic bottom line or they lost a great deal of customers who tired of waiting (3 yrs) and they purchased bootleg copies of the series.  At this point, I (and many others) feel the best road for WB to take with this series is to license it to another company (preferably Shout!) and allow them to take over the venture of releasing the remaining seasons and providing the fans who want high quality official season sets.  There is a market out there for this series, it is just that fans don't trust when the releases are 2-3 yrs apart.  My hope is that Shout! Factory can acquire this series and do miraculous wonders with it!!!

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

Perhaps to Warner Bros., not enough people were buying Knots Landing on DVD, and that could be the hold-up.

At this time Warner has said that they currently have "no plans" for more season sets of the show. That may change in the future, but then again it may not. What Warner MOST needs to see is that it's not only the passionate fans (the ones willing to come to TVShowsOnDVD and vote, and come to Facebook and complain about no current plans for the next release) who are willing to buy this show on DVD. It also needs to be bought by the "mainstream" group of more casual fans. Think of a family member (aunt, uncle, cousin, etc.), or friend, or a co-worker who's seen the show and enjoyed it, but isn't as heart-and-soul into the series as someone reading this probably is. Did THEY buy Knot's Landing on DVD? If not, then why not? What's stopping them? It's in stores and it's at Amazon, it's at a decent price (at the time of this writing, roughly ~$27 for S1 and the same for S2)...why hasn't it sold more? It was popular on broadcast (ran for 14 seasons, 1979-1993 on a Thursday night time slot going against big-ratings NBC shows like Hill Street Blues and LA Law); why isn't it selling better on DVD? If Warner sees the copies of the first two seasons - the ones that they've already produced - start to move out of stores and into people's homes (without having to lower prices so much that they're losing money on every copy), then they would most definitely start to make plans for S3 sets.

If not, Shout! Factory can always release it, as part of their new business deal.

Please Release Knots Landing Seasons 3-14, somebody!

Maybe the reason why Shout hasn't been able to release them is because Warner Bro's are being jerks, unwilling to license the rights. I heard on one of the WB chats on HTF that WB doesn't like to license their shows because they want to release the shows themselves. Thing is, WB doesn't want to release them and they don't want anyone else to either.

It's like the WB are holding Knots Landing hostage for a very high ransom.

I firmly agree!  Many of the major studios prefer to release season sets of more current shows than past shows, because they can make a larger profit from those.  TV shows that are over 20 years old are less likely to sell because many of the people who watched those shows back in the day don't buy TV shows on DVD (sadly).  The problem for me is that I believe most of the television shows that are on today are basically garbage or they have the same format, only in a different city, police department, courtroom or hospital.  The shows of earlier days had more originality and variety.  I'm still holding out hope for the remaining seasons of Knots Landing.

Many more people should  buy season 3 because the episodes are better written and there 's more exciting drama than in seasons 1 and 2. I would love for Shout! to release the rest of KL , since WB doesn't care about people who love classic TV.
Although it's a long show (11 seasons left to be released) , I'm sure there is a loyal enough fan base that would snatch up the rest .

If Shout! can license this series from WB and release season 3 before the end of the year, that would be awesome!  Then if Shout! deems sales to be "lower than expected" as WB has said about seasons 1 and 2, they can release the remaining ones as a Shout! Select title, in order to continue to provide the fans with the entire series and they can still make a profit as well.  I hope Shout! will get into talks with WB concerning the acquisition and release of the remaining seasons of Knots Landing soon!!

Hi all - I just "special ordered" season 2 of Falcon Crest from WB web-site... It was just "released" as special order on 8/31. Perhaps this is what they are going to do with future seasons of Knots Landing? Now this special ordering is NOT cheap... but we want our DVD's! Please release these titles and the fans will purchase!

This is a plea to Shout! Factory to pursue the acquisition and release of the remaining seasons of Knots Landing!  The series is stalled by WB yet again!

It has been 15 months since I began this thread and we haven't heard any kind of response from Shout! Factory on trying to acquire the license to this stalled series from Warner Bros.  I need to complete my collection of this truly remarkable series!! Please look into this one and give the fans a bright shining light!

This would be amazing!  I sure hope it's something possible.  And while you're at it maybe check into Falcon Crest too, I bet we don't see any further releases for that either, in any form.

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

+1 for the rest of Knot's Landing.... this was and will always be my favorite dramatic series. I went to college and started my career with Knot's. I rearranged my work schedule to accomodate whatever Soapnet did with Knot's on it schedule. And I've been in withdrawal ever since it vanished overnight. Yes, another true Knot's addict steps forward!

I love every season and I want to own every season but I haven't bought anything yet because I was afraid they'd do exactly what they did, stall out at the beginning. I'm sure alot of fellow Knot's fans had the same fear. Not to mention Season 3 is when the series really starts hitting it's stride and the excitement goes through the roof. I shouldn't admit this but I'd pay stupid money to get the ENTIRE series at one time. I don't want dribs and drabs, I want it all. And yes, please, no hacked up syndicated version, I want every minute of it.

I know the unreleased seasons would sell like mad especially if they were either released as a giant Knot's Megaset or in quick succession, say Season 4 has an announcement date not too many months from when Season 3 comes out, or something along those lines.

Don't let us down Shout... this would be a gold mine for you as well us Knot's faithful! My credit card is poised and eagerly awaiting a call to action!

Count me in as a Knots Knut as well. I started watching in high school ('must see TV' for me and my family) and continued through every season - rearranging my college classes, work sched. for the show! About ten years ago, I watched it from beginning to end when they reaired it on Soapnet each day. I would love for it to be released in full on DVD.

It is absolutely ridiculous that WB isn't releasing all of the seasons of KL!!  The show didn't really pick-up until the vixen Abby showed up in Season 2 and onward. Please someone, ANYONE, please further the cause of having the remaining seasons released on DVD. This show was so awesome and I would love to get into it again.

Anyone on this thread know anything about the Ultimate TV Boxsets website http://www.ultimatetvboxsets.com/product.php?productid=3842446&catid= They offer: Limited Edition DVD Box Set ALL 14 Seasons in One Huge Collection - Lowest Price Online Guaranteed $134.95 In searching for a review of their website, I found on Yahoo Answers a VERY negative review: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110319132619AAKggSA I too am wanting to get the full 14 seasons but am wary of internet rip-offs and the above seems too good to be true after reading this thread. By the way, I went to checkout to see shipping charges and they were only $24.95 which doesn't seem exorbitant.

Given that Shout! Factory has begun a relationship with WB in acquiring and releasing Max Headroom and Norm Show I am hoping this partnership will open the door for Shout! to acquire Knots Landing and maybe along in a package deal to include releasing the remaining seasons of Falcon Crest as well.

Hi, I am one of Knots youngest fans. I starting watching the show on soapnet, it use to air before/after all my children marathons on saturdays and i got hooked! I seen episodes from various season but i only seen the first 5 seasons straigth through, and makes me even madder that the wb hasn't put out more seasons is because i feel like the show didn't become a real soap until season 5 and now i'm left on a real cliffhanger of karen being shoot and gary chasing after abby!

I really hope Shout gets the rights to release more seasons.

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14
I, too, grew up on Knots Landing (original airings)! I am 28 years old and watched the series with my mom. I remember lying in bed (I was supposed to be asleep) and listening to the theme song coming from the TV in the living room. Of course, I couldn't sleep once I heard that, so I'd beg her to let me watch it... and she would. Then it was straight to bed. When I was older, repeats were shown on TNT or something like that, and I watched all of those, while my mom was at work. And then, of course, it was on SoapNet. I was so happy about that... Now I can't find it anywhere.... I loved that show! And have been impatiently awaiting its release... of course, at the time, I had no idea the first season had been released... and, when it took so long for the second one to come out, I started to believe I'd never see it... Now I'm feeling that way again, and it's so depressing! I purchased both seasons twice: one copy for myself, another for my mom. We watch them together whenever I go visit her. If it were at all possible, I would love for Shout! to release the remaining seasons... I don't care how much they cost, I will buy them! Thanks for reading!

My hope is that perhaps Shout! Factory is attempting to license Knots Landing, along with Falcon Crest, from Warner.  Brian hasn't posted anything here revealing that it isn't something they are pursuing, so hopefully no news is promising news. I mean, look at how long it took for them to announce Jem.

I'm sure Shout! discussed the possibility of licensing this show (along with many other shows), but they would have to foresee this show selling REALLY well for them to attempt releases. If a show like The Facts of Life (which has a total of nine seasons) is currently in limbo as to whether its getting a season 6 release, I can just imagine the kind of torture fans of a show with 14 seasons would face. Even if they went the complete series route, that's an unusually large amount of discs and larger packaging than normal, so its cost would naturally be larger as well. While the hardcore fans would shell out the cash for that, the larger DVD-buying constituency would hesitate. As a TV on DVD fan, I wish you guys luck, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14
I just wrote to WB.com about this issue. This is what I said:

I am writing to express concern in release of a TV show on DVD. I saw that you are on your way to release the final season of "Dallas" on DVD, which is excellent. I also saw that you are releasing "Falcon Crest" as well on DVD (already on the second season, great). I wanted to know, when are you going to start doing more for "Knots Landing"? I saw that you have only released 2 seasons of this show and that was it. I wish that more seasons of this great show will be released. we got like 12 more seasons of "Knots Landing" to go and personally it makes no sense to release one show fully and ingore another show. Even if you don't think KL is popular, you will be surprised to find a great fan base for this show. "Dallas" was great and so was "Falcon Crest" and "The Waltons" even, but "Knots Landing" deserves at least a chance in stores or MOD. No wonder TV-on-DVDs don't really sell well, you all don't release the good stuff but you will release season after season of shows that no one really cares about. Im not saying that "Dallas" or "Falcon Crest" were crappy shows, they were excellent, but it feels like you're sitting on the great impactful shows and putting out stuff that you can see a million times a day like "Friends" and whatnot. If you put you some rare stuff, you will see a lot of buyers and profit, so come on Warner and finish releasing "Knots Landing". If not the whole show, then at least one season or a best of collection. "Dallas" is finished now, so people would think that "Knots Landing" (being that it was a spinoff) would be coming out in quick succession. That's all I really have to say on that matter. Thank you for your time.

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14
I saw a whole thread on why Knots Landing was not released on DVD on the Knots Landing forum. Here is what people said (ACTUAL QUOTES):

Fadingrockstar stated (and I quote): This doesn't surprise me either. That's why I went underground to get the rest of the seasons. WB is losing money by not releasing them online for download, the cost would be minimal at best and people would pay for an authorized copy. I will be dead before WB figures this out, stupid just plain stupid!

Soapbeach said: I'll sell my DVDs of Knots Landing again, if Warner Bros really not going to release more dvd's of Knots Landing, I wait a few more years, but not forever, that's it.

MontyC stated: I think further seasons of Knots are not going to happen anytime soon. Also season three comes ripe with music licensing issues. Isn't that when Ciji is introduced complete with a musical number in almost every episode? I bet that is adds another impetus to continuing the release in order. If the new Dallas pilot sells and is a hit interest in Knots might be revived but that's a long shot. It's possible the series will be licensed to a smaller outfit, like Shout factory, or the on-demand experiment will take off and we will see it that away. Though the current Warner storefront is so shoddy and difficult to navigate that it's attempt looks like it was predetermined to fail. I bet Falcon is a big test and if it flops they won't do anymore series this way. Though I can see someone else, with an actual on demand dvd business focus, making it work and becoming the front end for media companies like Warner. The easiest way for the Warner empire to cash in is to find a broadcast outfit to license it to. I wonder if that's possible? There has to be some digital cable channel desperate to fill an hour cheaply.

jej2252
stated: all this music licensing business I have to say I do not understand. Why is it that it can jeopardize DVD release (see Wonder Years or even Murphy Brown) but these shows can be repeated on TV?

anddra_w stated: If they believed Knots would make a lot of money they would release it. Realistically it most likely wont make a lot of money however it should still be released because there are fans who want it. Quality of a show isn't important to WB it's seems to be only profit that they are interested in.

Jimmy Carrington-Colby stated (and this I believe is a sad state of TV on DVD): Its so sad something can't be sorted out, I grow closer and closer to getting a dodgy off-the-telly bootleg from the internet every day!

edwardr42000 stated: It's just a bit bemusing when you see other series' being released that you only vaguely remember. If Knots was in production now they would most definitely be putting out DVD sets of it. I can't understand why people buy things like CSI when it's on TV constantly and they could make their own copies. Plus, for me, once you've seen an episode you don't really want to watch it again as you know who did.

Stavrogin stated: This is a shame- and incorrect thinking on their part. Perhaps it was a mistake to just automatically start releasing the seasons in order- Knots Landing to many didn't get good until the 3rd season and many would probably buy that but not the first two and the studio mistakenly believes the other seasons will have no interest because the first two didn't sell but I don't think that is the reason. Personally, I didn't find Knots very interesting until Abby takes Gary away from Valene- of course not everyone thinks that. Dallas, on the other hand, had a very good first season with one of the main plotlines that sprung it's success, Sue Ellen's affair with Clliff Barnes, happening in that season. Dynasty, also, had a very successful season in Season 2 but Knots didn't start to heat up until Season 3 so it's not really fair to expect their first seasons to be that popular. They should release the 3rd season and then see how it goes. It's great television and I do think that in itself will sell it. The boxcover should also change- it's overtly feminine and the cover alone probably makes some males think twice about buying it.

bev103 stated: I'm hoping that now that Dallas is done, Knots Landing will now get their seasons released. I loved this show much more than Dallas. I have seasons 1 and 2 and bought them the first day they came out so come on Warner Brothers release those other seasons now!!!!!!

Ms Pamela stated: This writing in is a waste of time, I have said it before. That article hits the nail on the head, its not about a select group of fans, people enjoyed Knots but it had no hook. Its the kind of show where you watch it, but you don't rush out of buy it. It doesnt have cult status. The show should of been promoted as the Dallas spin off, there are tons of Dallas fans who never watched Knots. But the downside is to the majority of Dallas fans, the first season would be perceived as a complete letdown and it doesnt get going as riveting piece of drama until Sid's death. They need to find another way to sell Knots Landing and perhaps the on demand DVD route as with Falcon Crest is the way forward. But the only reason this has happened with Falcon Crest is because the cost of cover art and production has already been done due to its popularity in in some parts of Europe.

and from another thread, OntheMarkTexas stated: The problem seems to be that the suits at Warner Bros. can not get in through their thick skulls that KNOTS never was (and never will be) the pop culture darling that DALLAS was. While KL was a much better written and much better acted show, it never got the props it deserved – and all these years later, that has not changed when it comes to the DVD releases. DALLAS may have had the larger fan base, but the majority of those fans jumped ship once Bobby came back from the dead. By comparison, KNOTS had a small but loyal fan base that stuck with the show through all its ups and downs. If you look at the statements from WB as to why it took 3 years between the DVD release of Seasons 1 and 2 (and why there are no current plans for any additional seasons) they always use the same tired excuse of “sales were softer than expected.” Those idiots are still trying to compare KL to DALLAS even after all these years. It’s this kind of narrow thinking on the part of WB that has doomed KL’s chances on DVD from the beginning. If they “adjusted” their expectations and stopped trying to compare apples to oranges, they might be surprised at the results. Additionally, during seasons 4-7, there were a number of songs performed by Lisa Hartman that might prove to be a licensing nightmare. WB might just be trying to stall the inevitible by delaying the release of future seasons on DVD.

Such a sad state of affairs, isn't it?

Why wouldn't Warner want to license a series that they seemingly have no further immediate plans for? How does it make money for them in limbo? Just let a company like Shout! take over and do this series justice. Shout!, please try to acquire the licensing for this beloved series.

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

WestCrest you are correct.....Lisa Hartman was introduced in Season 4 as "Ciji Dunne".  She was killed off the show at the end of Season 4. Fans of the show (including myself back in the day) wrote in to the show/CBS to keep Lisa Hartman on the show. She returned in the 5th Season as "Cathy Geary" (please note the initials of her new characters name C.G. very creative on how the writers kept "Ciji" alive.....even though Lisa was playing a different character.  You all may already know Lisa's history on the show.....just some fun trivia for those out there who may knot!!!

I sure hope Warner or Shout! (or any studio for that matter) will finish producing "Knots Landing" Season sets. It's really ashame, because there is a loyal fan base for the show.  You would think that the "powers that be" at Warner would even consider releasing a limited edition or made to order DVD's for this show (kinda how they are doing this with "Falcon Crest"). Personally, I think "Knots Landing" was a much better show than "Falcon Crest", but that's my opinion.

On the positive front....Next week (April 19th to be exact), Lisa Hartman will be FINALLY releasing her record albums on CD!!!  Her first 3 albums!!! (She made a total of 4 albums.....the last one "Til My Heart Stops" is already available on CD).  The names of the albums that are being released next week are: "Lisa Hartman" (her debut album, which focused alot of country/blues tunes, and will feature 3 bonus tracks).  The second album, "Hold On" focuses more on the old motown / rock classics like "Old Time Rock And Roll", "You Keep Me Hanging On", "Hold On", and will feature 5 bonus tracks (which have never been heard before....one being a remake of  "Gimme Some Lovin'"). This album is an excellent album!! But the the third album being released next week, "Letterock" is my favorite. It features all the songs she sang on "Knots Landing" as Ciji. Among the songs featured are: "If Love Must Go", "Hole In My Heart", "Games", "New Romance (It's A Mystery)".  It will feature one bonus track "Where the Boys Are" from her movie "Where the Boys Are '84"....this is a great album...Classic 80's at it's best!!!).

You can go to Amazon.com to purchase the cd's or to the official website of the label "Wounded Bird Records".  I sure hope that Lisa's music might inspire the releasing of more "Knots Landing" DVD seasons sets......"LETTEROCK!!!!

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

I have bought both season 1 and 2 releases but found the approach to the releases way out of line.  The first season was only a 1/2 season and was priced at 39.98   ????  For a 1/2 season?  Talk about greedy.  Full season half hour sitcom releases are priced less than that.

Season 1 and season 2 were also more single episode storylinesl.  In my opinion season 1 & 2 should have been released together around the 39.98 price range.  And due to the longevity of the show, there should have been at least 3 season sets planned for release each year thereafter so it would not take 20-30 years (at the rate it is going) to get all seasons on DVD.

I got hooked on this show when I was a teen. My grandma watched all the prime time shows, every last one of them! And Knots was her favorite....Mine too. I liked all of them but Knots landing was great and I loved the theme, especially the mid 80s variations.....I can't believe how slowly they are releasing these.

If you look at the current state of tv on dvd, shows with this many seasons to release have no chance of coming out. Clearly the first 2 seasons didn't sell. I saw them at Walmart for 10 bucks. Much like Peyton Place, this show will never be released again.

Who should we contact so that they can be informed of how imperative it is to make seasons 3-14 of Knots Landing available for those of us who are willing to take our hard-earned money to purchase? It should be important for the distribution company to continue making money, and if there are many of us out here telling them we want to give them our money, why is there such a problem? What happened to the idea that the CUSTOMER is ALWAYS RIGHT? The first 2 seasons were great, but 3 and above were AMAZING! I hated the fact that the episodes were being shown on Soapnet, then removed. PLEASE point us in the right direction so we can receive what we truly want for our money's worth, PLEASE!!! I'd like to chime in on this discussion and assure the folks at Warner Bros and Shout Factory! that the storyline of this series remains timeless. My daughter, who is nearly 14 years old (the age I was when the series originally premiered on network television), couldn't stop watching the first two seasons. In fact, she enjoyed watching the series so much, that I recently sent an e-mail to Warner Bros requesting an update on the availability of future seasons. Unfortunately, I received a canned response that stated they have no way of knowing if future seasons will be available on DVD. Shout Factory --- can you obtain the rights to this acclaimed `80s series? BTW, my daughter also enjoyed watching the first two seasons of "The Paper Chase." Only to be left hanging in mid-series --- again!

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14
Knots was on for 14 seasons and held it's own against Hill Street Blues and L.A. Law (another show we'll probably never see again). It also ran successfully in reruns on TBS (or was it TNT?) and then SOAPNET for many more years. To say it doesn't have a following is wrong. A show doesn't last 14 years without strong ratings. Yes, Turner and SOAPNET both discontinued reruns, but not until the complete series - which in syndications takes more than a year - reran multiple times. The Turner station ran it even though they primarily market their shows to male dominated audiences. Obviously the sales of the first two seasons didn't meet expectations. It was poorly marketed. Season one art didn't even show the correct cast members. Maybe people would have picked it up if they saw Sid and thought, "I forgot about him. I should check this out." if Dallas sells so well, they should have marketed it as a Dallas spin-off, the same way CBS did went it started on TV. They could have slapped a picture of JR and Bobby Ewing on the cover - staring up at a picture of brother Gary and his neighbors. Dallas Ewings were featured often in the beginning. In fact, the two shows blended together perfectly until Dallas left the Knots universe by waking up from Pam's dream. When Kristen shot JR,she hid out in the cul de sac. When Val wrote her tell all book, JR did everything he could to stop it. And Abby Fairgate was the only woman in my opinion to stand up to JR and get the best of him. If Gary's grief over Bobby hadn't been so prominent, those scenes could have also been explained away as part of Pam's dream and both shows could have continued to reap the benefits of the others success through the end. My point is that the entire series of Dallas is available on DVD. If people bought those terrible last few seasons of Dallas, surely they would pay to see the other side of the story if it was amply marketed well. I just can't believe more people would by seasons 10 - 13 of Dallas than seasons 3 through 6 of Knots. Knots to me was a far superior show. Just because it was sophisticated doesn't mean it doesn't speak to a wide audience. In fact, I know people who never saw the early episodes and loved the more action-oriented final seasons. I KNOW!!! I recorded the first five seasons during it's last run on soap net because TV on DVD wasn't a big thing yet and I thought that would be the only way I could own my own copies. Unfortunately it looks like I was right. I can hook up my VCR and watch these along with the last episodes and the misguided reunion. But I'll never again get to see Val getting her twins back or those great improvised scenes during Laura's memorial (I can't remember if the body ever actually arrived.) Supposedly Knots doesn't have cult status. It only has die-hard fans like you and me. Wait...

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

Maybe if WB had remembered the UK fans of Knots Landing & not just the US it may have helped sales! We were informed that Region 1 discs were available for Season 2 (the one which really starts it off) but no sign of Region 2 discs. Not everyone has multiregion players so the R1 discs were useless to us :(

The UK loved Dallas & Knots Landing and I don't know anyone who either didn't watch it religiously or at least tuned in to the odd episode.

I've now been forced to trail the 'nether regions' of the internet seeking out someone who has the entire series on disc which they've recorded from tv.

So if anyone does pick up the rights for distribution don't forget R2 discs for the UK, because we wana see it too!

There are a couple of American websites (such as tvboxsetsdvds.com) that advertise a region-free boxed set of all 14 series of Knots Landing.

Does anyone have any knowledge of these companies? How have they managed to get all the series? Will they play OK?

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14
As some others have said, I am now 26 years old.  Some of my best memories were watching this show when it was on SoapNet with my Mom.  My Mom loved it when it was primetime television, and I do believe it says alot when a teenager can come along some 30 years later and still enjoy the show very much.  When season one came out, my Dad bought it for my Mom... We then bought season two as soon as it came out.  About a year ago, my Mom and I spent one weeknight each week watching the episodes, and after Sid's car crashed, I've turned to stalking the internet to see if any announcements for future season releases have been made.  I'm afraid to buy the seasons from any seller that isn't licensed through WB, as I'm afraid for the money, and the fact that this show is technically WB's property.  I just really wish they would release the rest of this show.  It is one of my favorites, and I really do think that means something big, considering the fact that this show was on television so many years before I watched it.  With all of the production time & materials used to run TVonDVD shows the WB is confident WILL sell, how much extra money will it really take to run a small set of KL?  If they don't get purchased, then they'll have their answer... although I truly believe they will be surprised and wonder why they didn't release them sooner.  I know I'd pre-order this if I could.  Ooh well.. hopefully soon!!!!!!!

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

I can't afford cable, and I have bunny ears. Since everything went digital, it's harder to get a perfect reception.  So, a few months ago I went to a Half Price Book Store and started collecting some television shows. When I found Knots, I was THRILLED!!!!!!!  I was lucky; they had Seasons 1 and 2 and I snatched them up right away!!  Then, I spent weeks searching for the rest of the seasons until I finally found out online that they haven't even been released!  I was a Dallas watcher too, but KNOTS WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!  Yet, all seasons of Dallas have been released, and only TWO seasons of Knots???

Every Thursday night was set aside for watching it. I looked forward ALL week long for Thursday night!  In college, I'd get my homework done and it would be my reward to myself.

I am wondering if the lack of release has anything to do with a certain cast member not giving permission. Can that happen? I racked my head to figure out who is in Season 3 that wasn't in Season 1 and 2, and who I came up with was Kevin Dobson "Mac."  I'm just throwing it out there, but could this be the case????  I have no clue.

Is anyone else tired of watching Season 1 and 2 all over again and again and again because it's all we have? I can't believe the crappy television shows that are available on dvd; yet the all-time best drama is not.

PLEASE LET US HAVE OUR KNOTS...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14

You're lucky you got some of the seasons recorded. I had a TON of Knots on vhs, but lost them ALL in the 2008 flood here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The main thought going thru your head as you're throwing your life out on the curb is "will I be able to replace this?"  I'm glad I didn't know at the time that I won't ever be able to replace them.

I don't understand the greed of not putting this fantastic show that has nearly a "cult" following on dvd.

Wait...

Karen is my hero!!!!

I want to hear Karen's rose-colored glasses "Polyanna" speech to Gary. I LOVE Karen!  I relate so much with her. She's always volunteering for a cause (that's all I do), trying to save the world, and she never wavers in her integrity and honesty. She's fiesty and assertive, yet playful. She's a great mom and wife and friend.

She's the hero of the show, and I am still waiting for MY "Sid" or "Mac" to come along. What great role models all 3 of them were. Truly! When I was in a bad relationship, I'd think as I watched the show, "THAT's the way I want to be treated!"

We miss you all, even "poor Val."   :-(

I can't believe that Warner Brothers could just ignore this show and not release the rest of the DVD.  There has to be something that can be done.    Please do this for us fans, there surely is a lot of money to be made here.

Like a lot of other classic TV releases, there's surely a mediocre amount of money to be made here.

RE: Knots Landing Seasons 3-14
Each time I venture online to see the latest releases, I am amazed at the "trash" that has been released for DVD. Upon entering any Best Buy, my assumption that the modern American intellect has decreased considerably is made reality upon seeing the latest releases of the most obscure, simple-minded, lame-ass DVD releases possible. For reasons not shared with the public, Warner Brothers refuses to release one of the best written, deep, often political, a bit controversial at the time, incredible character development, as well as superb acting, dramatic soap operas of our time-KNOTS LANDING. If Shout Factory can ever possibly put it together, intelligent TV can come back into "vogue" instead of present day simple-minded nonsense, and archaic, cheesy, DVD releases of past. Shout Factory, it's all about money. There is a mint of money to be made by acquiring this set. With that said, hop to it!

I really cannot believe that the remaining seasons of Knots Landing have not been released to DVD.   Many people grew up with this show and there are a great deal of fans.  There are over 9,000 views for this post.  Come on, Shout! step up to the plate and release this show.   The holidays are coming....   :)

ayktor, aren't you aware that 9,000 views most likely represents only repeat viewings from the same board members? Hell, Dirk just brought it up!

please put the rest of the season on DVD.  I would love to see the last season since I missed  the final show.  I already have season 1 and 2 and I want more. I probably only missed 4 shows the entire 14 seasons that knots was on the air and the final was one of them.

Knots fans are probably better off emailing Warner Bros. service@wbshop.com to express their interest than venting about it here to Shout Factory. WB has already released Falcon Crest on MOD DVD's and may do the same for Knots if they feel enough people will buy them.
