TNBC Shows
Four shows from the TNBC line-up that have yet to be released on DVD are Hang Time, City Guys, Just Deal, and Sk8.  I would be ecstatic if these shows could begin being released by season sets in the near future.  Image Entertainment released the whole series of Saved by the Bell: The New Class and our very own Shout! Factory has begun California Dreams (a big thank you!), but I would love to see these other shows make it to DVD as well.  I believe Hang Time might be owned by NBC, but I think the other shows might be up for grabs?  I have complete and total faith in Brian Ward and the Shout! team to put these titles on DVD in the truly high quality sets they deserve.  These shows bring fond memories of high school and Saturday morning TV.  Any chance these shows could be acquired and released by Shout! Factory, Brian?

RE: TNBC Shows

Are there any other fans out there who would love to own other TNBC shows on DVD?  It is very possible that if enough of us show support for shows like: HANG TIME / RUNNING THE HALLS / CITY GUYS / USA HIGH / JUST DEAL and SK8, then I know Shout! Factory will likely take an interest in considering producing these shows on the quality season sets we have all come to know and love from this company!

Hang Time is ranked very well on the TVShowsOnDVD website.  I (as well as numerous other people) would absolutely love to see all six seasons of this series released on DVD!  The TNBC line-up may not be on television any longer, but we can still experience how much we loved those shows by having them released and owning them on DVD.   Please, Shout!

I would also love to see Hang Time being released on DVD, as it was a really great show. It would be great to see USA High and Running the Halls as well, as those were also very nice shows which really deserve DVD releases.

To own these shows on DVD would be a truly awesome thing!!  These shows take you back to a time when you had few responsibilities and lived in the moment.  Watching TNBC shows on Saturday mornings was a ritual with me and my friends back then.  I own the entire series of Saved by the Bell (pre-TNBC) and Saved by the Bell: The New Class on DVD, as well as California Dreams (S1/S2), but I'd love to also own Running the Halls, Hang Time, City Guys, Just Deal and Sk8.  Any other fans out there feel the same about owning the entire series of these Saturday morning classics?

I'd love to see the Peter Engel stuff, especially USA High & City Guys and the remaining seasons of California Dreams. Running The Halls would be great too but I don't see there'd be huge demand for it. There's a whole bunch of similar '90s shows i'd love to see released.

RE: TNBC Shows
These are hard titles to consider.  Besides Saved By The Bell, few shows like these have succeeded on home video.  Even our initial California Dreams set, which included two seasons of the show, underwhelmed us and I think it's safe to say it was the second most popular of the bunch.  In order to consider the others in the collection, California Dreams really needs to perform.  We have one volume currently out there and a second (the third season) coming out via our direct-to-consumer campaign.

Get the word out!  Sales need to warrant looking into these lesser known series.

You heard it here fans!  Let's rally around California Dreams and show Shout! how important having this complete series on DVD is to us all!  If sales go well, we can expect season 4 & 5, as well as, the possiblity of other TNBC shows (Hang Time, City Guys, Just Deal, Running the Halls, Sk8).  Maybe even USA High (although not part of TNBC line-up, but was a Peter Engel series).

RE: TNBC Shows

I just thought that I would post to this thread again since it has been a couple of months since my last post genuinely pushing for more TNBC shows to be released on DVD.  Of the remaining shows that were a part of the TNBC Saturday morning line-up, TVShowsOnDVD unreleased rank has Hang Time and City Guys as the top two.  Just Deal is 3rd, Running the Halls is 4th and Sk8 is 5th.  USA High is actually after Hang Time, although it was not part of the TNBC line-up, but was a Peter Engel production series.  Remember, great sales of California Dreams will give Shout! reason to check into these.

Hey, Brian.  I read your post in regards to the strong possibility we fans will be able to own season 4 of California Dreams before the end of 2010.  Fantastic news!  Do you think this is a good time for your acquisitions department to begin, if they haven't already, looking into licensing other TNBC shows?  Hang Time, City Guys, Just Deal, One World, Running the Halls, and Sk8.  Any other fans out there in support of these?  Please make your vote known to Shout! Factory which of these series you would like to own on DVD!!

Hang time was awesome.  I saw SBTB the new class and it wasn't nearly as good as hang time.  Not that it was bad, but I think it was made famous more because of the original show.  If dvd releases for that can be justified, then hang time definitely needs to come out.  I would buy hang time in a heart beat.  I would love to see the full series released all at once, but would settle for individual season sets.

Hang time was by far my favorite of the shows, but city guys and one world were also good.  Would buy them as well.

Now that we will be able to start purchasing season 4 of California Dreams next month, and I am sure that season 5 will be released sometime in 2011, can Shout! Factory begin looking into (if you haven't already) releasing other titles from the T-NBC lineup.  Hang Time is the most popular right now on the TVShowsOnDVD website, but I would also love to see Running the Halls, City Guys and Just Deal as well.  Any other fans out there want to help push these shows into a DVD release?

Any news from Shout! Factory in regards to acquiring and releasing other T-NBC shows on DVD?  Now that there is only one more season of California Dreams to be released, please get your hands on as many of the other shows from that line-up as soon as possible!!

I'd love to see that too, but I also understand where Brian Ward is coming from too, I certainly wouldn't look into obtaining a show for DVD release if expieriance told me it was going to bomb. To further the effort, I bought Season 1/2 of California Dreams on DVD. There is a market I beileve for the Hang Time's and City Guys, but does it extend enough beyond nostalga to get a release?

RE: TNBC Shows

Do you know if there is any update on any of the TNBC shows?  I am mostly asking about Hang Time.  That was, in my opinion, the best of the TNBC shows.  I know that several seasons of California Dreams were released, and Hang Time was much better by far.  I know I would buy it, and I am sure that many others would as well.

RE: TNBC Shows
I hope we see the release of the final season (Season 5) of California Dreams sometime this summer, or at least sometime this year.  I am also hoping that Shout! Factory has been looking into and acquiring other shows from the T-NBC line-up to begin releasing on season set DVDs.  It would be great if we can see the release of the complete first season of Hang Time and/or the complete series set of Running the Halls on the heels of the last California Dreams season to be released!!!

Hey Brian. I'm really hoping to see California Dreams season 5 in the near future. Did season 4 sell well enough to warrant its release. There have been no updates for a few months now and we are all getting a little worried that we might not be able to finish our collections. Thanks!

It has been three months since the last post to this thread and I wanted to bring it back to the top to kindle the interest of Shout! Factory in acquiring other television shows from the T-NBC lineup and releasing them onto DVD.  Season one sets of Hang Time and City Guys in 2012 would be a GREAT start.  I would also like to express my vehement desire to own the 5th (and final) season of California Dreams.  Any other T-NBC fans out their?  Please show your undying support!!

RE: TNBC Shows
  • I agree.  Both hang time and city guys were phenomenal.  I would love to see them on dvd as well.  I believe earlier in the discussion you mentioned that you were hesitant to release either of these series because of the lack of success with the release of dvds for "Saved by the Bell: The new class".  I understand your concern, and I believe I might have mentioned this in a previous response but I would like to express my opinion again.  Saved by the bell the new class was not that great of a show.  It was pretty much a recycled version of the original with many of the same stories/plots.  The only reason that it would be recognized over the other shows such as city guys and hang time is because the success of the original show and the recognition of the saved by the bell name.  If you notice, the release of California Dreams was a success.  While it was another teen oriented show, it created a much newer and fresh story/concept.  The same goes with Hang Time and City guys.  Both of these were terrific shows because they were original concepts not an attempt to create a "sequal" show in order to reap the benefits from the success of the original.  Sequels generally don't work and SBTBTNC was definitely an example of this.  I know alot of time the issue is obtaining the rights to the show.  But believe me, I would buy both Hang time and City guys in a heartbeat and I am sure many others would as well.

Another suggestion.  With a show like the facts of life (this is just an example but I'm sure other tv shows may fall in this category).  Part of my hesitation in purchasing the facts of life on dvd is because of not knowing if the full series will be released.  I know right now there is only up to season 5 released.  I loved the facts of life and would buy the series in a heartbeat if I knew the full series was out there (or at least if I knew there were plans to release the remainder of the series).  But I wouldn't want to get into the series only to stop midway in the story line.  I believe you would find your sales increased if there were ultimate plans for a full release.  And I believe the same would apply to Hang Time, City guys, and possibly others.  If there were ultimate plans for a full release, I believe you would get great sales from these series.

That is just my opinion.  I just thought I would share.  I am not sure if anyone on this thread would agree with me, but feel free to add your input (or feel free to disagree as well.  Thanks for taking the time to read my opinion
