Larry Sanders Show Seasons 2-6

After you release It's Garry Shandling Show - The Complete Series on DVD, will you be doing The Larry Sanders Show next?

Sony Pictures released the Larry Sanders Show Season 1 in 2002, and re-released it in 2007!

Please see what you can do!

We're looking into it. It's a fantastic show and we'd really like to do it.

This would be fantastic!  It's one of the best shows yet to be released!  I just wish Shout! Factory would start releasing more shows on Blu-ray in addition to their DVD sets.  Now that most people have 40+ inch high definition televisions, the low bitrate on most TV DVDs is really starting to show.  I'd gladly pay over $200 for either of Garry Shandling's TV shows on Blu-ray!

The biggest issue with Blu-ray is the fact that it's a format that still hasn't quite caught on.  I mean, even contemporary hits like, say, Castle, which stars a fan-fave Nathan Fillion isn't out on Blu.  For a small indie like us, we really need to know that it'll sell, because Blu-rays take longer to produce at the plant (almost twice as long) and are considerably more expensive to author (about 5 times as expensive as DVD).  And that's on the cheap end.  So for us to consider television content on Blu-ray, we really have to know we have a surefire hit.  And, honestly, we have to know that the content is high-def worthy.  We rarely get high-def quality masters, so upconverting from standard to Blu-ray wouldn't really be any different than you putting your DVDs into your Blu-ray player.

Hopefully, one day...

Brian

Another vote BEGGING you to please release the remaining seasons of The Larry Sanders Show on DVD!  It's getting to the point I'm having to consider asking friends to borrow their VHS tapes of the show when originally aired on HBO so I can create my own DVDs of THOSE.  The Season 1 release is nice, the 'Not Just The Best Of...' is even better, but fans of the show want ALL the episodes, with or without extras.  It's just too good of a show to not be out there and available!

Brian Blum, who worked very closely with Garry on It's Garry Shandling's Show as well, has been putting a lot of work into the set.  I can vouch that this is gonna be a good one!

LOVED Garry's hilarious Senatorial role in Iron Man 2 when I saw it this weekend!  I was looking away from the screen at the moment his first lines sounded, and I recognized the voice and I turned my head back to the screen so fast that I almost got whiplash, LOL!

Great to see G.S. up on the big screen, and in a film you know will be seen by a lot of people!

Can't wait for the Larry Sanders Complete Series set!!!  I wish there was a way to Shout! (pun intended) out personally to Mr. Shandling to let him know how much we're looking foward to this - instead, we'll have to express ourselves by buying a bunch of these Larry Sanders sets for family and friends!

Brian,

Not sure this is info you're allowed to share, but thought I'd ask anyway just in case.

While working on the upcoming release for The Larry Sanders Show, has there been any issue regarding obtaining the rights to certain music that was performed on the show?  I'm assuming that's one of the items that has held up a release like this for all these years - and I was just curious to know if it's all being worked out - and if the show will be presented on DVD as it originally aired or if any cuts will need to be made (the removal of songs, etc.)

Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Excellent news about the (lack of) music cuts. Are you able to confirm how many discs will be in the set by any chance, please?

Brian, with 17 discs in the collection, will the new set include any of the previously released (or perhaps new) bonus features??  I figured it was worth asking because the previously released "Not Just the Best of the Larry Sanders Show" had (to me) some of the greatest 'bonus materials' any DVD release has ever seen.  Any of that coming to the new set?

Since it's not my project and the press release on bonus materials hasn't officially gone out, I'm not sure what I am and am not allowed to say.  I will declare that you will not be disappointed, however.

Incredible review of the new Larry Sanders Complete Series DVD set:

http://www.collider.com/2010/10/21/the-larry-sanders-show-the-complete-series-dvd-review/

So how does Shout! Factory do it???  What is their magic secret to getting the music rights when it seems no one else can - or should credit go to (probably) Shout! AND Garry Shandling??

Either way, bravo, once again!
