MSTies, PLEASE READ!!!! THE MIDDLEMAN
I know this is in the "Cult Faves" section, which is more often than not designated to the likes of MST3K, but there's TRULY only one show I think deserves to be in here as much--if not more--than any other. I really only want to talk about The Middleman: The Complete Series. Created by Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost, Charmed), this show is to sci-fi what Buffy was to horror.

Seriously, the show got NO attention from the audience that would love it most, because it was on ABC family. Granted, that wasn't the right network for this series, but at least they GOT it. And they legitimately tried. It was obvious, while producing the set, that this was a show unlike any other, in that, everyone working on it loved it so dearly, from the creators to the cast to the writers to the dolly grips and, yes, even the network. But the ratings weren't there and the show fell into obscurity. I'm glad it did, because that means Shout! Factory got a crack at the DVD and I've never been more proud of a set. And I just produced complete series sets for my two favorite childhood shows!

If you're a fan of pop culture, and I know you are because I've read all of these amazing posts, please check out The Middleman.

But as LeVar Burton always said, "you don't have to take my word for it..."

Never heard of it but I'll give it a try.  Sounds like something I'd enjoy.

I'm finding that's the biggest problem.  No one's heard of it.  Could be ABC family's fault.  Could be the fault of those of us, like me, that refused to pay any attention at all to ABC family.  Either way, it was one of those shows that should have continued and, sadly, was canceled before its time.

Thanks for the open mind!  Hope you enjoy it.

I've heard of it. I never watched it thought. The promos for the show were typical of ABC family promos.

Shout Factory knows how to release televsion, now if only they could release Legends Of the HIdden Temple. One can always dream.

While it may not be your cup o'tea, ABC family just shot an episode of one of their better-known series, Greek, that revolves around Comic-Con.  Within it, I'm told there's a subplot that incorporates a "recreation" of our booth at the convention and focuses on The Middleman sets from Shout! Factory.  Creator Javier Grillo-Marxuach even shot a cameo (complete with Booth Babes!) last week.  Hopefully, this helps get people even more interested in the show and the sets!

RE: MSTies, PLEASE READ!!!! THE MIDDLEMAN

Just got THE MIDDLEMAN set this weekend and was immediately floored by how awesome the show was (and sad by how quickly I went through it).  Great set and show!

One note though: When I went to the local Best Buy to get THE MIDDLEMAN, I scanned the entire TV section and couldn't find a copy. Tried the comedy and Sci-Fi sections, again no luck. On one last browse through the DVD aisles, I walked past the Special Interest section (the DVD section that is always empty) and saw 3 or 4 copies of THE MIDDLEMAN.  Thought I'd let you know, not many people are going to check the Special Interest section for a TV show. Saw the same thing at a second Best Buy too. Said something to one of the workers and was outvoted by their computer system.

TomH,

We've done a check of their system and it seems Bust Buy has it correctly input.  Where were these Best Buys that had it in special interest?

Moorestown, NJ and Cherry Hill, NJ.

Went today to Moorestown Best Buy, no copies in Special Interest section anymore (or any other section).  Hopefully they sold-out, and weren't just moved to a harder to find section.

Thanks.  It was confirmed that there were a handful of stores that had them mislabeled.  That has been taken care of and now, people should be able to find them in the television section.  Hopefully.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention.  You're a lifesaver, Tom!

For those of you that have seen the show and have picked up the DVD set, creator Javier Grillo-Marxuach has been adding his own exclusive bonus features to his site O2STK.com.  You can find additional video commentaries with special guests, deleted scenes we couldn't put on the DVD set, and more.  So check it out!

Javier Grillo-Marxuach has just added a new video commentary for "The Sino-Mexican Revelation" with himself and director Jeremiah Chechik at http://www.O2STK.com.  For entirely different reasons, these things are just as entertaining as the show itself!  You should check it out.

The young, beautiful and very talented star of The Middleman, Natalie Morales, is now a regular on the USA show White Collar.  The premiere episode, which is being hailed by critics, can be seen tonight at 10 pm.  Natalie makes her first appearance on next week's episode.  Expect big things from this girl.

Enjoy, sir.  It's without one of my all-time favorite projects.  Such a fun and under appreciated series.

Thanks, B!

I found the DVD set at a local store and decided to give it a try based on your recommendation. Myself and my aunt have enjoyed every episode so far, and I loved the extra features included. My parents dropped over while we were watching one of the shows and they've both fallen under it's spell as well.
