Donkey Kong Country
Is there by any chance that Shout Factory could release this on DVD. I would love to see this show released on DVD. Also the person who voiced Klump also voiced Gannon from The Legend of Zelda cartoon and the person who voiced Diddy also did the voice of Yoshi from the Super Mario World cartoon (and Lisa Simpson).

As sweet as this sounds

I don't think anybody would want a DVD of a cartoon that features a singin' Donkey Kong

I think this show wold make an interesting set.  I own a DVD containing 4 episodes from the show that I got from the UK (off Ebay).  There was at one time a US release of the show on VHS.  Though I think it was just the movie Quest For The Crystal Coconut.

Another one of these cartoons that I sort of grew up with, used to be on Fox Kids over here. Even though I have the 4 episode DVD, I would like to see more of this since I've only seen a couple of the Season 2 episodes. Also there's an episode that has the same name as that feature length video but they are different. Heh, Lord Harry.

Oh, Nelvana has the rights to the show by the way if anyone's interested.

RE: Donkey Kong Country

the Nintendo based cartoons of the past are great

However,  Donkey Kong Country is in the WTF zone due to it has Donkey Kong singing plus they portray Bananas as DK's spinich

Yeah, even if it does get released on DVD the sales might not be good. I mean it's like many people say that this show is worse than Barney because of all of the songs and stuff. I just don't get what's up with those songs. They would show one of the good parts and then somebody makes DK, Diddy and the other characters sing some WEIRD song. These songs are not only bad but THEY'RE ALMOST WORSER THAN THE BARNEY SONGS. Man DKC and musicals just don't mix together. I mean they're video game characters not musical people.

Well if this show does make it to DVD I would definatly buy it despite of what I think about the songs.

Agreed with the naffy songs, if people don't like them there's always the mute button, besides Sonic Underground also has awful songs, both made by or with French companies and both are videogame cartoons so there must be a link. Also all the DK fans call it Lord Harry for some reason. Who's Lord Harry?

Donkey Kong Country is certainly a possibility.

Sweet, Brian you gotta try to get that. In England we only have 1 DVD out with 4 episodes, and I loved the show as a kid, and would easily buy this if all the episodes came out.

We're not sure about Donkey Kong Country.  The show is actually Nelvana's, an animation company in Canada.  The problem we've run into is that another company has the rights to distribute the first season, but haven't and don't seem to have plans to.  We're finding it difficult to wrap our heads around justifying releasing the series from season 2 on without the first season ever having been released.

Can't you speak to the company and aquire the rights to season 1 Brian? Or would that be too expensive?

It could be too expensive.  But more importantly, the company that has them might not have any interest in giving them up.  After all, they paid to license them for a reason.

I have the movie on VHS, I use to watch this show when it would air on television, and I gotta say it wasn't as good as the other nintendo based cartoons but I would definatly like to see it on DVD.

Well, it's not like Paramount is willing to co-operate with Shout Factory. They're the ones who released DKC: The Legend of the Crystal Coconut on VHS. Not to mention the fact that they also release another Nelvana show - The Backyardigans. Why don't you see about releasing Sam & Max: Freelance Police? I'm sure Nelvana will let you release THAT. If not, then one of us oughta make like Max, and put the sleeper hold on those corporate goons, and make 'em cry uncle.

Does that company still own the rights to DKC. Man it seems like companies are trying to keep DKC from EVER being shown in the USA EVER again. Ever since Nelvana created Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, they trashed DKC from EVER being shown on TV ever again. Boy do I hate that show, Maggie and the Ferocious beast. I can't believe DKC got taken off the air and got replaced with Maggie and the Ferocious Beast. Man I hated Nelvana for doing such as thing like that. Especially cancelling DKC which was a better show.

By the way, Brian. Are you still trying to get the rights to get DKC released on DVD?

RE: Donkey Kong Country

As much as all of us loved it, DKC wasn't really all that popular here in the US. It was amazingly popular in Japan and France, of all places (its country of origin), but it just didn't have the viewership needed to make it big this side of the pond.
