Like Shout has done with Dreamworks and the show Spin City and Hasbro with the G.I. Joe/Transformers cartoons I believe not just the fans but kids in general will get a kick out of the originals. Disney simply wont pay up and issue box set volumes of MMPR let alone single disc volumes they believe it wont sell which is ludacrous Power Rangers is one of the hottest properties for the young kids market today and to release DVD's of the classic series to a youngster it would be something new and exciting and force parents to buy it Im 22 years old and have friends that I graduated High School with and they have 3-5 yr olds that love Power Rangers RPM the current incarnation
I'll imagine (if produced by Shout with a backing by Disney) next year or so my friend and his child Taylor walking in a local best buy or wal-mart he runs back to his father with a DVD with a version of Power Rangers he has never seen and hes excited and when my friend examines the package closely he recognizes that the Red Ranger and his other four technicolored alien exterminating comrades glazed on the box cover is none other than Jason the original red Power Ranger along with Billy, Zach, Trini, and Kimberly the blue, black, yellow, and pink rangers the very same superheroes he watched and emulated as a kid with that trip down memory lane he explains to his son Taylor that these were his power rangers that every afternoon and saturday morning just as his son does now he watched the show.
So now my friend and any other parent can show renewed interest in the series through the child and they can watch it together as well as the die hard fans like myself who would want DVD's of the now iconic MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS and since shout factory has that image of taking lost films and TV series that no other studio would touch due to lack of interest I think this is a great opportunity if a partnership could be struck between Shout and Disney and give the original series it's much requested well deserved DVD release
P.S. Throughout the Years 1993-1995 MMPR was a worldwide phenomenon one could not go anywhere without seeing Jason or Tommy on some piece of merchandise and it sold just as well as the toys (do I have to mention the TRU waiting lists) Jason was on the cover of TV Guide in 1994 as well the 5 teens were on countless magazines the show was a smash hit the moment the first episode aired 5 weeks afterwards the nielsen ratings declared it the no. 1 rated children's program. the week of 10/4/93 the program boasted a 6.9 rating and a 44 share |

You would all ready have a large amount of wanting to buy this, considering Power Rangers fans have their own convention (Power Morphicon) and it would also appeal to many kids from the 90's who have fond memories of the show. |

PSA's plus the bios featuring the original actors that would have aired before during or after the program plus some docs featuring the cast and crew I'm one for nostalgia and I believe these are not featured on the german releases and if they could I would like to see some toy commercials but doubtful cause those are owned by Bandai |

Member since: 6/2/2009 | | RE: MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS (1993-1995) | There are at least three things holding back MMPR from a DVD release:
1. Music rights. Saban wrote both the theme song and the various songs used during the episodes.
2. Kamen Rider. Footage from Kamen Rider was used for the first episode of Season 3 " A Friend in Need". Saban purchased the rights only for TV, not home video.
3. After 9/11, Disney edited all the episodes by removing any scenes featuring "building destruction", as well as other "questionable" content.

Member since: 7/16/2009 | | RE: MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS (1993-1995) | | Disney's edits make no sense Green with evil part five after Jason screams "Look out it's gonna fire!" Dragonzord fires upon a building the 5 Rangers were perched on throwing the rangers off the ledge the edit removes that entire sequence after Jason's warning going after the attack with our heroes falling but in the mutiny prt 2 the same footage was reused however there are no edits the scene is as originally aired Whatever scenes unfit for TV like the 2 part original finale Doomsday simply were no longer aired the uncut footage still exists Music for X-men was also written by Saban's company and we have releases for them so music rights being an issue would just be an excuse to delay release although Kamen Rider rights are in limbo Masked Rider's are still property of Saban and when Saban sold everything to Disney they went with em
The main problem is Disney believes that the original Power Rangers would not release well they predict low sales and most adults who may have religiously watched the show had every toy and bedrooms garnished in MMPR sheets curtains books wall decor posters etc etc. now have grown up and ignored the series deemng it as crap and those that do watch it are closet fans its a dirty little secret
To me it is just good clean fun with so many teenage shows and movies showing sex drugs alcohol and foul language and even though MMPR does not represent real teenage behaviors they were role models for millions of kids displaying good values and hell, the 5 techicolor clad teens even fought to keep mother earth clean from pollution many a times. |

No word on if this means MMPR is finally coming to DVD, but I'd say things are looking good.

The re-airings are probably to generate buzz for a DVD release hopefully Blu-ray as well. Here's hoping its a restoration and not a remaster MMPR without the original music would be wrong the music itself was one of reasons the show was so popular they released a soundtrack for it in 1994 |

Given due to legal issues they would prbly have to cut out the LA TMNT tie-in eps in Power Rangers in Space. But yeah, if I could get PR from Mighty Morphin to Lost Galaxy on DVD... that would be somthin great.
Please Hit Saban up about this Shout. |

I would still watch it even today. Its much better than all those new ones they came out with. I only care for the original up to the season where the white ranger got brought in. After that when I think they did ninja ranger or something like in the movie, I dont care for the show too much. |
