I was wondering that myself.  I hope we get all seasons. of this show.

"God chose those whom the world considers absurd to shame the wise; he singled out the weak of the world to shame the strong. He chose the world's lowborn and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were something." (1 Cor. 1: 27,28)

We're doing a lot of preproduction on the second season of Rhoda.  After the last release, we're trying very hard to not release a second season before we know, without a shadow of doubt, that we have most--if not all--original broadcast masters in as good of condition as possibly exists.

We're listening to the fans.  We know you all want them, but we also know you want them RIGHT.  So, while it may take a little longer than most second releases, we're working hard to make sure that when you get them, you get them that way.  Thanks for the patience.

I don't know if this is true or not, but this site says that season two is scheduled to be released in October of this year.

I don't know if this gives you guys much time to produce a better season two set.

That does not give me much time at all.  And it's not true.  Rhoda will not be released in October.

Brian-

Thanks for getting back to me!  As long as I know that the DVD's are in the works, is good enough for me!  Glad to hear that you are trying to get the best quality out there.

Fantastic news, and thanks again!

Bob

P.S. Looking forward to the Thirtysomething set as well.  Looks like you guys did a great job with that one!

RE: More Rhoda?

Hello Brian,

Glad Shout are looking into all the available masters before releasing season 2 of "Rhoda".

I taped a lot of season 1 episodes of "Rhoda" from the UK Family Channel in the 90s and still have them,so when I bought the DVD set,saw how much was missing from so many episodes, like Mary Tyler Moore's hilarious appearance in the pilot, which does exist.

One of the worst episodes for cuts is "Guess What I Got For The Holidays?",opening scene cut, dialogue between Brenda and Rhoda cut,the character Mae hanging decorations cut.

Maybe if all the masters are traced,"Rhoda The Complete Season One"could be released for the 40th anniversary?

Cable Channel UK Gold regularly showed Rhoda unedited over the last ten years.

I am thrilled that we are getting more seasons of Rhoda... I adore the show and it is odd cause here I buy Transformers the complete series set... I still need to pick up the G.I. Joe set and I buy Designing Women ... and here I love the classic shows like RHODA and MTM and Bob Newhart .

I will buy Season 2 for sure.

Just saw the announcement that season 2 is coming out in January.

Will all the episodes be uncut or will there be syndication reels in place of full length versions like there was on the season 1 set?

I am scared the news on tvshowsondvd lists 570 mins for 24 episodes which means about 23.5 mins per episode and that looks CUT to me. Can anyone at shout confirm.

The news comes from Amazon, which was given a lot of placeholder information by our sales department.  Trust me when I say that we're doing everything (and then some) to make sure this release is the one you're hoping for, in terms of episode length and quality.

More in-depth news soon.

Hopefully, by now, you guys are aware of the fact that the show originally ran for 25:30 (give or take a bit).

Hi Brian-

Fantastic news about Season 2 of "Rhoda."  Thank-you for getting the seasons out at a nice pace, and taking the time to do it right!  It amazes me how a company like yours produces these TV sets fantasticly, and bigger studios drop the bomb on a lot of theirs.  If you've seen the Season 5 release of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, you know what I mean.  So Kudos to you and your team!

Bob

P.S.  LOVED your Thirtysomething release!  Can't wait to get the rest of the seasons of that show as well!

I can actually tell you all that we've pulled out ALL the stops to make sure we don't have the same problems as before.  I can go into more detail at a slightly later date, but trust me when I say that seasons one and two will be worlds apart.  You've spoken and we've listened.

Is there any chance Valerie will be available for any extras?  And if the cartoon "Carlton Your Doorman" can ever be used as a bonus for this or other sets?

I would love to see the "Carlton Your Doorman" pilot as a bonus on a Rhoda season set.

RE: More Rhoda?

I will probably be in the minority on this one, but bonus material just doesn't matter to me.  Get the basics right and any extras shouldn't be necessary.  It's like when dining out, you base your opinion of the restauraunt on how the main meal tastes.  If you order a steak medium rare and they serve you something that looks like a Chernoble victim, you probably won't be impressed if they try to then serve you a big bowl of ice cream with cherries and whipped cream on top, right? The same principal should apply to DVD sets for TV shows.

Just one man's opinion, of course.

Besides, anyone with an Internet connection can log onto YouTube and watch several hours' worth of interview segments with Valerie Harper. Why up the cost of this or any other set by paying her to repeat everything she's already said elsewhere?

Incidentally, the James L. Brooks & Alan Burns interview segment that you folks included on the Rhoda: season 1 set as an extra is currently posted to someone's YouTube channel, as are most of the episodes.  I'm guessing you didn't approve any of that?

Brian

Would it be at all possible to include on Rhoda SEASON 2, the missing opening scene from the "pilot" where Rhoda is at the Minneapolis Airport about to board the plane bound for New York and Mary Richards is trying to get to her to say good bye.  Not only is this the opening scene to the first episode but for the whole series.  I just think its really important for this scene to be included as an extra (or the whole episode), even if its not in prestine condition.

By the way I want to let you know how much I appriciate your communication and listening to fans of classic TV.  You are just awesome!

RE: More Rhoda? (missing scene w/ MTM from pilot)

For those who don't already know, Mary Tyler Moore's 'lost' appearance from the 1974 pilot episode titled "Joe" can now be viewed on YouTube.  Just in case links aren't allowed here, a quick search will bring it up.

What I want to know is, was there ever mention of an "official" reason why you could only use syndicated edits for S1?  (I too wouldn't mind some day having a "complete" S1 version...)

Season 1 (I believe) contained my favorite scene in the entire series: where Rhoda steps out and screams on the balcony in frustration.  I hope you'll eventually go back and release a fully non-syndicated first season, as I would love to own it.

In the meantime, I plan to order Season 2 when it streets in March.  I knew you guys would come through, and really appreciate the extra effort you went to; to get us the original broadcast masters.

Thanks for all the hard work on these shows Brian. I love Rhoda and I bought Season One, I can be picky about issues with release but I loved the set, and dying for more seasons so Season 2 will be a day one purchase for me. I just hope I don't watch them all in 3-4 days!

Can't really discuss potential bonus material right now.  I will say that we're trying to put some stuff together, but because of schedules and the like, it's difficult wrangling people together.  I'll keep you informed as we get closer.
