RE: lassie
I would love to see the whole series put out in season sets.

"God chose those whom the world considers absurd to shame the wise; he singled out the weak of the world to shame the strong. He chose the world's lowborn and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were something." (1 Cor. 1: 27,28)

RE: lassie
Perhaps Lassie could be released starting with the seasons sometimes known as ' Jeff's Collie.'

RE: lassie
This is one of the top items on my want list. I have many episodes from when the cable channels used to broadcast it, but would love complete season sets put out by a company that believes in quality (someone like Shout Factory, for example). I wrote to the company that currently holds the rights asking about season sets and their reply indicated they had no plans at all to do anything with this series. You have to wonder what it is they're waiting for. Annoyingly, complete season sets are available in France, but with no listed English language option for audio or subtitles. I may end up trying one anyway - if there really is no English option, I'll watch 'em once then eBay 'em.

I'd love complete season sets for the first two versions of the show with Jeff, and later, Timmy.

RE: lassie
I believe Sony owns the rights for Lassie.  It seems that Shout could probably work something out with them to release this show.  Nothing at all against Dennis the Menace or Leave it To Beaver(I'm Buying Dennis, and Leave it to Beaver is in my cart at Amazon).  I really feel Lassie is one of the most beloved shows of the golden age of television.  Family oriented television at it's absolute finest.
It needs to be released on dvd.
My idea for it is quite ambitious:

Mega sets-The first set containing seasons 1-4(and so fourth until the series is completed.)  12-14 discs per set, and I'm sure these  would do more than break even for Shout Factory.  I'm not counting on it, but this would please a lot of classic tv fans.

Brian,  does Shout have any plans for Lassie?

Lassie is owned by Classic Media, I would buy season set of "Jeff's Collie" in a heartbeat!  Talk about nostalgia - when they showed the series on Discovery Kids I wish I would have taped it - a sweet, gentle, fun show that made the 50's look a  lot better than today!

RE: Lassie
I search for Lassie release info regularly, and just came across this thread.  I thought I'd add my two cents worth.  Well, actually, with Lassie I might get carried away and add a dime, or maybe even a quarter, worth.

I'd love to see Shout Factory, or anyone for that matter, release Lassie properly on DVD.  By properly I mean full season sets of uncut episodes.

I have all of the US "best of" DVD releases and have even resorted to collecting foreign DVD releases, a few 16mm prints, and some fan produced DVD collections of off air recordings.  There's a Dutch DVD collection(menus in Dutch, but episode soundtracks are the original English) with most of the episodes from season twelve that I've been trying unsuccessfully to acquire.  There appear to be a pile of German Lassie DVDs available, mostly from the Martin era.  But the soundtracks are German only.  It also looks like France is getting some Lassie season set releases, but the soundtracks are French only.  American fans shouldn't have to learn a foreign language to enjoy a classic American series.

Please, Shout Factory, do justice to this classic American series and release full season sets of uncut episodes.  American fans are tired of "best of" releases.  One recent release is a good example of what not to do.  As if we don't already have enough "best of" releases someone got the bright idea to take two previous "best of" releases and repackage them in one box.  It's available from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Lassie-2-Pack--/dp/B004NJC0RK/

among others.  They put as much thought into the new packaging as they put into the content.  On the cover they have Jon Provost(Timmy) and Spook(Lassie).  Jon only appears in two of the six episodes in the set, and Spook isn't in any of the episodes in the set.

Show 'em how it should be done, Shout Factory!!!

If Shout Factory takes on this project, I have a suggestion.  I'm too young to have seen most of the episodes when they originally aired.  And for the episodes I might have seen when they originally aired I was too young to remember.  I was born 18 days before season sixteen started.  For most episodes I've only seen the syndicated title sequences.  It would be great if full season sets were released with the original title sequences.

I'm telling you, I have a feeling about this being released on dvd.  The feeling being that it would sell many, many units.  This show IS classic television.   Sony is sitting on a goldmine, and either they don't know, or don't care.  Either way it's we the consumers that end up losing.
