Fans have been waiting to complete this series and it seems like it has been derailed while a few apparent best of single discs look to be planned. What happened and when will we be able to finish Punky Brewster and It's Punky Brewster on DVD?
Also, on the first season set, one of the cartoons was missing the endin, I reported this and got a DVD-R with the complete cartoon. Has the actual disc been fixed for store copies and if so, is there a way I can get the actual disc replaced so it can work as intended?
If not, then please consider adding this one short cartoon to the Season 4 set alongside the rest of It's Punky Brewster/ |

I hope Shout Factory realizes that there are a number of people that will only buy the first three seasons once the fourth and final season is released. I have been buying all along and never understood that mode of thinking but it is a factor to please consider if sales might not have been as good as hoped. |

The first season is being broken out into volumes, for those parents and fans that have no desire to purchase season sets.
There are no immediate plans for the fourth season's release, but it's constantly on our radar and we've never stopped discussing it. That's a good sign. The truth is, when we released the first two seasons, we were SLAMMED with emails and phonecalls requesting that we secure the rights to the final two seasons. Once we did, and released Season 3, we were stunned by how few sets it actually sold. This, in no way, has anything to do with our not releasing Season 4, but we're not moving it to the top of our list, as a result either.
I do believe you'll see Punky Brewster: Season 4 released sooner than later.

So do you mean to say that those are going to be volumes of Season 1 only? Does this mean Season 4 still does not have a release date?? If so, I'm ready to start crying again.

Well I am one of those who probably e-mailed Shout! a few years ago to release the last two seasons of PB and yes I stuck to my guns and have bought all 3 seasons thus far. While news of season 4 is off and on, I just thought I'd once again show my support for the release of Season 4. I think it deserves a proper tie-up, not just with the live-action show, but the cartoons as well.
My only complaint of past releases is that the cover art stayed the exact same for all 3 releases. Fair enough the colour schemes changed, but it would've been nice to have had a variation in the main pic used. |

Not sure how the episodes will be grouped together, but I'm guessing they'll follow airdates. I wonder what the artwork will be like? Surely it must be completed for the volume sets? |

Member since: 7/9/2007 | | RE: Punky Brewster Season 4, where is it? | B Ward--- I hope you get to read this. I have a few concerns/questions.
First, I think A LOT of fans of Punky Brewster are going to get mixed up and buy the single discs that were just released thinking they are getting Season 4. Can you explain why Shout Factory would waste money manufacturing new discs and packaging them up so people can buy 1 disc at a time. Both Amazon.com and Half.com have Season 1 (the FULL season) selling for under $15. I am not sure how much the single discs are going to cost, but I don't think by breaking up the first season is going to make Shout Factory anymore money. In fact, to me, it seems like the manufacturing costs would be more than the profit.
This show aired 20 years ago, most people who would be parents (in their 20s and 30s) would know about this show already. My mom is 60 and she knows it. I think 'fans' of this show can afford it. . I can't think of a fan just wanting to buy 1 disc of this show. Even if each disc was $5, by buying each one separately, people would be paying a lot more than buying the set.
I have *never* seen Punky (any of the seasons) in any store, but I think the same packaging on all three seasons is a big problem. If you look at Season 1 and 2, you can tell the colors are very different, but unless you are looking closely enough to read Season Three, the color of the packaging on seasons 2 and 3 look WAY too smiliar. Maybe a yellow color would have been better and it would bring more attention to it. I think Season 3 should have been Yellow and season 4 purple. The orange and pink (seasons 2 & 3) are just too close, like I said.
I hope you re-think the decision about releasing season 4. I know you've been receiving several emails and people have been posting here about it. I am just clueless as to why Shout! would do something completely different than what people are asking for and release Season 1 again, breaking it up. I am not clearly understanding that at all.
I am a member of a few message boards dedicated to this show (incuding SitcomsOnline.com) and this is not the first place where fans of the show have been confused about the single discs being released.
I do want to Thank Shout Factory for releasing the three seasons they have.

Member since: 7/4/2007 | | RE: Punky Brewster Season 4, where is it? | Totally agree... the casual buyer on the street (who would make up the biggest percentage of total sales) would not even realise from a glance on the shelf that season 3 was released. It looks too much like the orangey colour of season 2. I thought a grassy green would have been nice for season 3 and agreed on a light purple for season 4.
Some tv dvd collectors also appreciate the packaging / artwork amd see them as collection pieces. To have 3 dvds looking exactly the same isn't exactly going to stir anyone into starting up a Punky collection - just the diehard fans.
I also feel a few cast interviews would have boosted sales. What about people like Casey Ellison? And Soleil herself? A gag reel? Heck even some more stickers would have been good!
But like Video Trading said, this is all merely constructive criticism. Shout have done an exceptional job so far on the dvd sets. If they could finish off this great series at some point, we'd be happy.

And when it came out on dvd I was thrilled! I bought each season as it has come out, and now I hear there may not be a season 4!? That is a lousy thing to do. You can't just leave all her fans hanging like that! And why rerelease season 1 into shorter volumes? That should have been done before you released the entire first season. Or better yet maybe you should have released a "Best Of" dvd instead. Either way her fans have spoken, and I know plenty of people like me who are waiting for season 4. (Do we have to SHOUT to get your attention?) C'MON SHOUT FACTORY! GIVE US SEASON 4!!!!!!!! |

Member since: 1/12/2007 | | RE: Punky Brewster Season 4, where is it? | Okay, I'm here to say that the fourth season of Punky Brewster is officially on our early '08 schedule, though we have no definitive release date thus far. While you won't be getting an interview with Soleil (sadly, we've been unable to make it happen--but not without trying--for four sets), you should expect the remaining cartoons from It's Punky Brewster included as bonus features.
As for why we'd opt to release the other sets as single discs, it actually has little to nothing to do with money. We're actually making an effort to attract more folks to the season sets by giving them a taste of what they could be getting. Not only that, some parents want to show their little ones episodes of Punky Brewster, but have no desire to buy a complete four-disc season. We're simply trying to fulfill those requests.
Enjoy, guys!
Brian

I will definitely be buying the final Punky set, although I don't care much for the cartoons. It's too bad about Soleil not wanting to give an interview. I meam I know she's busy and all with family life, but she can't take one day out of her schedule? She needs to remember the show and her fans who put her where she is now. I mean she was willing to be on VH1's I Love the 80's a few years back, why can't she do something for her own show? Oh well, this isn't the first time this has happenned with an actor and it won't be the last. |

This business works in strange and, sometimes, too complicated ways. For all we know, she may have never even known about our reaching out and the interview may have been nixed by those paid to represent her. So, please, don't go misunderstanding the lack of Soleil Moon Frye on our sets as a desire on her part to disconnect from her Punky Brewster roots or fans.
Enjoy the set!

I don't think it would be her intention to disappoint fans by not appearing on the DVD. I agree with Brian that maybe her reps don't want her associated with the show. They may have a hard time finding her work because everyone still considers her Punky Brewster. If I remember correctly, I think Melissa Joan Hart got Soleil a part on Sabrina. I don't even think there was any 'casting' or auditions involved.
I have to wonder though, when Cherie and Ami sat down to talk about Season 1, they mentioned being good friends with Soleil. I can't imagine why they wouldn't mention to her they would be doing the interview and ask her to join.
BTW: I LOVE the Cartoons!!! I hope there are more on the Season 4 set. |

The background of the cover, however, will also be the same as the previous sets, in that, it will be a solid color. In this case, it's yellow.
As for the error on the first volume, that was corrected in subsequent runs and we have replacement discs, if you need one. Please contact our infobox for more information.

Member since: 11/16/2007 | | RE: Punky Brewster Season 4, where is it? | I love this TV show! It has so much heart, not like the shows out today. I just recently bought the past three seasons from Amazon after thinkin' about my childhood and doing a google search on Punky Brewster. I'm currently enjoying the 3rd season right now, which will soon come to an end, so I did a search for season 4's release date and came across Shout's forums. Kinda bummed out that you couldn't get Soleil to do an interview, but still, can't wait to complete my collection! Lucky me, the release date is only a few months away! Thanks for bringing this show to DVD. Since I'm a digital Media/VFX artist, I'm thinking about doing some fan art to show my appreciation for a wonderful show. |

Member since: 11/21/2007 | | RE: Punky Brewster Season 4, where is it? | I am going to say Thanks to Shout Factory for Releasing Season 4!! I saw a post on tvshowsondvd.com that stated the set is coming out on 2/26/08 and would feature 7 cartoons from the It's Punky Brewster cartoon series. According to my episode list there are 8 episodes of the animated series that have not been released. 1. Halloween Howlers 2. Return to Chaundoon 3.Glomer Punks Out 4. A Small Mistake 5. The Perils of Punky 6. Spellbound 7. Louvre Affair 8. The Shoe Must Go On. I inquired about this and received a reply from a very nice person in the DVD & Home Video Department stating that there was a problem licensing "The Shoe Must Go On". Are you aware of any new information regarding the licensing of "The Shoe Must Go On"? I would pay an extra $10 to ensure I can complete the cartoon series as well as the live action series.
Thanks for taking the time to read our requests. I also feel that a great job was done on the My So-Called Life Set.

I almost bought OUT OF THIS WORLD from this website until I read a few reviews and discovered they just sell DVD copies of taped episodes off the air. I warn everyone to never buy anything from this website, or others similar to it.
I noticed that they brought the price way down to $70 something dollars. Hmmmmm......wonder why?? Heehee.
