But did you know there was a childrens version starring Peter Marshall and Paul Lynde? It was 1969 and Paul Lynde regularly dressed in drag. And you William Shatner dressing as Captain Kirk. You can also find Carolyn Jones dressed up as Morticia Addams from The Addams Family.
This would be a great DVD boxed set that would attract a lot of buyers. It's one of the few shows that crossed both adult and children genres. You could even add some episodes of the adult version, including the rarely seen pilot. |

Only problem is that there is some controversy as to what episodes exist. In 1978 NBC supposedly destroyed all its game show tapes that were in existance leaving The Match Game, Hollywood Squares, Eye Guess, Concentration, The original Jeopardy with Art Fleming, and many more shows gone for good. Later it was revealed in Peter Marshall/s book that approx 3500 episodes of Hollywood Squares were found in a warehouse. GSN reran some of them which was mostly the syndicated version and a few of the NBC nighttime episodes from 1968 showed up on there as well. A Storybook Squares episode from the mid 70's also surfaced which was NBC daytime. So what really exists, remains a mystery...but enough episodes are there for a nice boxed set. |
