Two Guys, a Girl and a PIzza Place
Hey Brian, has Shout ever looked into licensing Two Guys and a Girl, etc? With Ryan Reynolds a big star now, it's odd that no one's tried to capitalize on it by releasing his only television show, which I thought was very funny and had a great supporting cast including Nathan Fillion. Thanks.

I know it's a title that's been on our radar before.  We'll keep looking into it.

Thank you for continuing to look into "Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place".  It's an all-time favorite.

As Tory, a fellow HTF member and fan, pointed out accurately below me, any music changes would be unacceptable.  Please keep asking Fox to license this to you guys.

I barely remember this show, but I'd buy it just because I love almost everything else Ryan Reynolds has done. I know I'm not alone in that.

Ryan Reynolds is getting added exposure thanks to the excellent HelloBC.com ad that has been running during the Vancouver Winter Olympics on both sides of the border.  So I would imagine this on the minds of many right now.

Because of this, I want to give another Shout out for "Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place" to be released with the original broadcast music intact.

I agree!  I also started a thread in regards to releasing the teen drama Fifteen (Hillside in Canada), which starred Ryan Reynolds playing young teen, Billy Simpson.

Been waiting for this show forever! I can't believe a show with Nathan Fillian and Ryan Reynolds isn't being put out immediately.

I would like to add my name to the list of people anxiously awaiting this release (in fact, I signed up to the board for that very reason).  I was briefly excited to see that a complete series set was posted on Amazon for pre-sale, only to learn that it was apparently a "feeler" to test the response.  As people are still signing up to it, even after the stock image has been taken down, I'm sure whomever chooses to release this will reap a benefit, music licensing be damned.

This continues to be one of the great mysteries of our time. With Reynolds and Fillion both wildly popular, why on earth no one has released this title yet is baffling. Brian has indicated that Shout has had this show on it's radar in the past, but nothing further. Any updates, BW?

With the potential success of the upcoming Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds it would seem like the best time to release this show on dvd.

RE: Two Guys, a Girl and a PIzza Place

G1811, this is in response to your Amazon review.  Fox has never gone on record as to why there is a holdup for Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, other than to say that six years ago in an online chat with Home Theater Forum, Peter Staddon address after the confusion there was no plans.  The demand for a DVD release was even high then. (I was the one who asked if we can expect it in the near future.) I'm also the same person on that site who was directing people to Amazon's sign-up page.  Some fan on their own some time ago put those faux DVD covers, and I've seen a few other fans mistake this for the real thing.  It's a similar reoccurrence that has happened on some of their other listings.

I’ve asked Gord and Dave about this before, and they are baffled as the rest of us, and the only thing Gord has come up with (noting he has never seen the show) is that there may be some high residuals associated with it, possibly the music.  I'm on the same page as he is.  As for "music licensing be damned"... it's not that simple, as Brian can attest.

Cronos, it really doesn't need to tie-in to the Green Lantern.  It's so fondly remembered and with Ryan Reynolds, Traylor Howard, and Nathan Fillion; it will practically sell on its own.  I think a complete series set might be the best approach to off set any costs related to the original broadcast music.  Fox themselves has had success with Ally McBeal, enough so, that they are looking at other opportunities.

Be patient.  They'll sort this out.  If Shout's still looking at this, I have a feeling we'll finally see that long-awaited release with all the music.

macphoen - Appreciate the direct response, & yeah, I remember the guys/girl, girls/guy debacle on that forum, years ago. Unfortunately, Brian's statement about this being on Shout's radar was quite some time ago, so I'm not sure if it's still true. In fact, my main reason for posting was to let him know there was still an interest, as there hadn't been a post in a while. As far as the "music licensing be damned" statement, I'm aware that licensing is a huge issue for any studio when they're considering a DVD release. It was intended as a light-hearted way to express my feeling that any company that chooses to jump that hurdle would still make a profit after factoring in licensing costs.
