Put Me Down for a Bettey Boop DVD Set!

That initial VHS "Definitve Collection" got nice publicity when it was released and I most of the video stores that I frequented in those days also featured it prominently - so my guess is that it sold very well.

I would love to see the Betty Boops on DVD - if we can get Talkartoons, Koko the Clown, and Screen Songs, too, so much the better!

Many of the Little Lulus have found their way onto the dollar DVDs in budget bins, but the prints are usually very color-faded and the UM&M headers are artrocious. If Shout! could locate the original elements and restore this series to the way it looked when the cartoons were first released theatrically, that would be absolutely outstanding.

I also have copies of nearly all the Puppetoons in the same state as the Little Lulus. It would be a shame if these simply vanished from the public's consciousness as they were (and are) totally unique in the field of theatrical animation. The only caveat is that Pal's most popular character is the totally n-PC Jasper.

RE: Put Me Down for a Betty Boop DVD Set!

Many of the Betty Boop cartoons are available on various budget DVDs, as a portion of her film career is in the public domain.

However, many of her cartoons (she starred in well over 100) are still under copyright protection and have never been on DVD. ALso, many of the public domain DVDs featured prints of the cartoons that were distributed to television, often with gags censored or opening titles changed.

Actually, I was trying to add my original comment to the already existing Betty Boop thread and wound up creating a whole new thread by accident. If a mod could just merge these posts into the already existing Boop thread, that would be great!

Yeah, Betty Boop cartoons are some of the wildest cartoons out there. They should be released on DVD, complete!

Shout! acquiring the DVD rights to Betty Boop would be a dream come true as far as I'm concerned.
