Maude
Only the first season of "Maude" has been released and there has been no word as to the status of the rest of the series. With Bea Arthur's passing and the popularity of The Golden Girls I'm sure it would sell well.

Ditto on wanting to see the rest of that released. From what I understand, Sony doesn't often license titles out but it does happen (My Two Dads being an example, I think?).

Shout will be releasing "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" later this month, and this is a Sony property. Maybe with the recession, the big studios are looking for anyway to make a few more bucks by licensing out the shows they have no interest in releasing themselves. And I too would love to see Shout license out the rest of "Maude" since Sony is pretty clearly not interested in releasing any more seasons.

Amazon now has sign-up pages up for Seasons 2-6 so I guess Sony may be trying to get a feel for the demand.

Unfortunately, those pages don't really mean anything. It's just Amazon's way of getting your email address in their database, Sony doesn't have anything to do with it. In the case of "Maude", they've been there for months. Until you see an actual pre-order price listed, there's really nothing to get excited about.

RE: Maude-- seasons 2 to 6
yes i agree that this recession has made the major studios only release the modern and big selling items [like sony,s bewitched  and married with children] which are big sellers, so they might just be holding off untill things pick up in 2010, but since shout has being doing such a greta job, why not add this to your growing list of releases.

It is actually quite shocking that ONLY season 1 of "Maude" has been released.

Bea Arthur is truly one of the greats. It's about time that Norman Lear release ALL of "Maude" What are we waiting for?

Comcast had a number of episodes available on their On Demand last year that were complete and uncut.  I don't have Comcast so I don't know if they're still running them.  Every so often Maude would appear, disappear, then reappear again along with other shows.  They also had the first two seasons of Bewitched a couple of years ago.  Might be worth checking once in a while to see what pops up.

Someone made a passing reference to Adrienne Barbeau today (apparently she has one of the most memorable chests in TV history) and it made me curious, so I looked and sure enough - it's been almost 3 full years since season 1 came out.

Maude's facelift, Florida's exit, Arthur and Vivian's wedding... season 2 was chock full of good stuff! Kinda jonesing for it, gotta say.

My favorite sitcom of all-time. Shout! Please pick this one up from Sony. Bea is a legend and deserves more than a single-season release. This show just got better as the seasons went by. Not a bad one in the bunch.

Bea Arthur was the best! Sony (Universal also) has been really bad about starting TV show seasons and then stopping. I hope Maude gets picked up by another distributer. This show is a classic!

It's REALLY important that we, the fans of Maude, keep making noise about getting the rest of this great series on DVD. Maude wasn't just a witty and beautifully-crafted sitcom, it was a groundbreaker. And a wonderfully acted one, as well (the cast had incredible chemistry with each other). Bea Arthur especially was sublime! It's absolutely imperative that this entire series be preserved for posterity on DVD.

RE: Maude

I love this show! Maude is one of my all-time favorites. I bought the first season when it was officially released because of my love for Bea Arthur and The Golden Girls, and settled for bootlegs of the entire series in summer of 2007 because they refused to release additional seasons. However, I will buy the official releases if they do release them. I much rather official releases than [shiite]ty bootlegs, but my love for Maude makes even bootlegs tolerable.

I was born in April of 1982, so this show does have appeal to people who didn't exist while it was in production. Come on, release all of Maude!! Maude was truly blessed with some of the most brilliant writing and acting in sitcom history. Maude's wisecracks are timeless!

So great to know that some of the younger people appreciate all the outstanding talent that went into this show. Shout, please try and take this one off of Sony's hands, like you did with Facts of Life. With the right marketing, Maude could be a real winner, better than anticipated. Perhaps something like "Before they were Golden" mentioning Bea and Rue pre-Dorothy and Blanche, etc.

I agree. It is shameful that the remaining 5 seasons of "Maude" are unavailable. It's one of those shows that didn't stagnate; it improved with each season. Mrs. Naugatuck's arrival was truly inspired casting. Great show that is still funny.

Were sales really that bad for the first season of MAUDE? I remember picking it up and ONE DAY AT A TIME, and really liking them both. I figured MAUDE would sell well enough to get some more releases, bit also wasn't surprised to see no more releases from SONY so far. I would still finish the series if more were ever released.

Maybe we should all start writing to Sony and ask them to consider making a leasing agreement with SF (assuming they're interested) for the remaining seasons of "Maude". At this point, I'm at a loss as to what else any of us can do to get the rest of this terrific series on DVD. Sigh.

RE: Maude

Maude cracked the Top 20 on Amazon back in March 2007 during its release week. Usually sales that good mean that a follow-up release is virtually guaranteed, based on other series with similar sales performance there.

It must have sold VERY poorly in stores to have Sony abandon it. I did see it very cheap in 2009 at my grocery store, Walmart etc. where they clear-out excess aged stock.

One Day... did even worse--it only got to #90 on Amazon. I would love to have ALL seasons of Maude and if nothing else, Season 2 of ODAAT, with the show's best character IMO--Ginny.

I really hope Sony gives these two '70s gems to Shout!, and soon.

The sad passing of Rue McClanahan is yet another reason why the remainder of "Maude" needs to be put on DVD. She and BA were great together in this show (years before the GG).

We local fans need to convince Sony Pictures to license Maude to Shout! Factory, just they did with The Facts of Life, Mad About You, The Larry Sanders Show, and All in the Family!

I just finished watching the last episode of "Maude" : season 1.

I echo all the sentiments on this board : "Maude" deserves to be released all the rest of the seasons!

Bea Arthur is one of the funniest women ever and a great actress!

I am the owner of the website that SHOULD have been the official one from SONY years ago. I decided to promote the dvd even before the release and now it has information for contacting SONY.

If SHOUT! licenses MAUDE for a second season I am willing to give the domain name to them. For free!

the address is of course http://www.MaudeOnDVD.com

Spread the word, the info posted there is useful to all interested to the series getting a second release!

COME ON SHOUT! What are you waiting for???

You know, the death of Bea created interest in the show, and the death of Rue has increased that interest. Go to TheMaudeShow on youtube.com. There are lots of classic episodes uploaded there. I could watch them for days (and have). One of my FAVORITE later-season Maude's is probably one of the funniest I have ever seen. The episode is titled "Vivian's First Funeral," and I laughed so hard that I insisted that my friends at work watch it on YouTube with me. It is a true classic. I am hopeful that Shout Factory will be successful in obtaining the rights just like they did for All in The Family.

This show is a true classic and one of the pivitol shows in changing the landscape of network television in the '70's.  It's hilarious and profound and has a cast of ladies that deserve so much more (as well as its fans) in having this show treated with the respect it deserves by its complete release on DVD.  Shout, please!

Sony sucks! They only get shows on dvd that are in sydacation 24 hrs a day on some cable channel. I so want Maude season 2-6 on dvd. The show just got better with Rue McClanahan becoming a regular in season 2 and she and Bea were so good together on Maude. Maude has to be one of the best shows ever, most Norman Lears shows were groundbreaking!

It's been over 3 years since the first season of "Maude" was released by Sony. It has been an agonizing wait for the remaining seasons of one of the funniest shows in sitcom history. Personally, I'd like to see the entire series in one box. I sure would buy it.

Maude only got better as the show went on. Season 2 brought back Vivian(Rue McClanahan) as a series regular and she amd Bea Arthur played off each other so well and the shows just kept getting better. Almost 4yrs since season 1 was released. Sony should just release 2-6 in one box set and give fans what they want.

Im surprised One Day At A Times did so poorly. It ran for 8 or 9 seasons, The 1st 5 seasons were the best. Maybe it did'nt sell well because season 1 only had 16 episodes.

I'm absolutely sick about this. TheMaudeShow's account on YouTube is "no longer." There's no explanation or anything about it. His (or her) YouTube channel was watched by so many people. Literally thousands have watch the episodes that he posted. TheMaudeShow was even listed in WikiAnswers as the place to go if one wanted to watch Maude.

DejaView broadcasts two episodes of Maude daily,  Monday-Friday from 5-6pm (Eastern time) if you can receive this Canadian channel on Cable or Satellite.  They are showing Season 5 right now in chronological order.  However they appear to be edited somewhat as episodes run just under 23mins. from opening theme to closing credits without commercials.  My wife and I are enjoying it more now then we did as kids!  Hope Shout! can release the remaining seasons in the near future?
