Werewolf
THANK YOU, SHOUT! for releasing the 1987 series WEREWOLF, which originally aired on Fox!

Now, I have a very important question: When the series aired on the CHILLER network a year ago, they were unable to get the rights to air the pilot and 3 other episodes, due to licensing issues. Music, I'm guessing.

Can you tell us if you've addressed these issues? I mean, the pilot is ESSENTIAL to the set! I'd love to see it again!

Just so you guys don't think I'm crazy, I found the link:

and the quote from the Chiller tv rep: "Now, about that “Werewolf” pilot. We tried moving heaven and earth. We really did. But it’s kind of like when Michael Jordan played for the White Sox. It just wasn’t happening. Licensing issues. So go easy on us in the boards."

and another poster: "Hi Werewolf Fans. Marty here There is some more bad news about the up coming episodes for the series Werewolf. According to the chiller schedule, chiller will not be airing the following episodes. A world of Difference part 1 and 2. and The Unicron. probly more music rights as to the reason these 3 eps will not air. This is not chillers fault, it's those darn leasing licencing rights people saying what episodes can air and not air. I have no doubt these licencing rights people are going to hack this series in the number of episodes chiller is allowed to air."

and another poster: "I noticed 3 popular songs during the Pilot, one of which I can't recall the name. Two being "Future's So Bright(I Gotta Wear Shades)" by Timbuk 3 and the other being "Silent Running(Can You Hear Me?)" by Mike + The Mechanics - of which is an extremely cool scene."

RE: Werewolf Fox Series on DVD: Important Concern
I would think they wouldn't be able to call it "The Complete Series" if those episodes weren't included.  I would also be VERY surprised if there were any changes to the music, since it would really only mean licensing those three songs in the pilot (which are integral to the mood of those scenes, ESPECIALLY the opening scene in the bar).  AFAIK, the series itself used an original score.

Given Shout's track record with other shows in the past that had music licensing issues, I doubt they would even BE pursuing this if they didn't have a plan to put them out in their original uncut form.  Take a look at SCTV, for example - TONS of music issues with that, yet they found a way to put them out uncut.  So hang in there a bit, I'm sure once they've got it all worked out they'll give us all the info.

And I'd like to add I am THRILLED that this is FINALLY coming to DVD.  By far one of the best horror shows ever.

RE: Werewolf Fox Series on DVD: Important Concern

We are working very hard to clear all the music. We expect to be able to keep it all intact.

Thanks for your support!
