105- The Corpse Vanishes
323- Castle Of Fu Manchu
610- The Violent Years
1007- Track Of The Moonbeast
and maybe 521-Santa Claus
This was done from a more legal than personal want standpoint, but any MST3K is good MST3K. |

Otherwise it would fit the 2 Joel/2 Mike format SF tries to keep. |

There is a similar post but I dont mind making predicts...I think this is what I went with before. It wouldnt surprise me to see Santa Claus however..makes sense..My plan B would be Santa Claus and either 1005 or 1007 as the 4th episode...

One title I really think they got, considering the timing, is Santa Claus....which would be fantastic, since my copy is one of my poorer quality VHS tapes of the show.
And give B Ward credit, at least he dropped us afew hints this time! I guess he couldn't resist! |

V 16 could look like
2 Joels - Crawling Eye OR GVSM & a public domain title (a season 4 title would be nice)
2 Mikes - Squirm and / or Diabolik with a public domain title or something easy to get...(Samson or Santa Claus comes to mind)
we are in for a Sweet Sixteen no matter how you look it at...

Member since: 6/22/2008 | | RE: Re: Volume XVI Predictions | Yeah, whatever the four end up being, I'm starting to think that they may have just tapped into an ep once thought tough to get because it was owned by a giant like Paramount or Universal. Like Jordan Fields said, SF is developing a relationship with the larger studios now (as their ever-increasing library of TV shows on DVD confirms), so perhaps they've bridged that gap starting with Volume XVI!
As for possible titles, remember to keep in mind that many titles have been tossed around in this forum; everything from Castle of Fu Manchu to Kitten With a Whip to Devil Doll to Blood Waters of Dr. Z has been brought up, so there's still alot to consider. But I do agree with anyone who thinks that Season 3 has been given the shaft for too long; time for a Gamera ep or Master Ninja or CoFM to come out! |

Member since: 1/24/2008 | | RE: Re: Volume XVI Predictions | Yes but if you read what Brain said about 2 titles in the Whatever Happened to B Ward thread - 2 of them were in that very 'whatever' thread so any 2 of these 4 Crawling Eye, Diabolik, Squirm and GVSM will be on V. 16 - Brian did say I was on the right track (he read the whatever happened to thread) so I am sure Squirm or Diabolik could be on Volume 16
Heres a thought for those following Ep #s ...
101
213 (it not maybe something from Season 4 or 5 that is public domain like Crash of the Moons or Hercules)
521
1012/1013 (I am leaning toward 1013)
My thoughs say Paramount is known for Sub-Licensing (aka Legend Films, Criterion, Universal has released their titles) so I am leaning toward 1013 to go with 101 (first and last episodes) .. throw in Santa Claus since it is going to come around the holidays and the 4th title could be GVSM or something pubic domain with Joel from Season 4 or 5...

105 The Corpse Vanishes

As for my "guesses", The Corpse Vanishes is based upon the fact you guys have gone the Season 1 route lately, while The Night of the Blood Beast - having had two different sets of host segments to it - just screams of having extras attached.
BTW kudos to you guys at Shout! on already laying down the groundwork on XVII; you've completely won me over from where I viewed S!F last year. |

The Corpse Vanishes was definitely one that was easy to pin down (I like the dedication to getting Season 1 episodes out). Season 5 is such a great season, so getting two more episodes from there is awesome. Warrior from the Lost World is a great episode, and Santa Claus is a classic! Night of the Blood Beast may be the highlight for me, though. Another episode from the fantastic (and sadly short) seventh season.
The extras are unreal! Maybe the best of any of the SF sets. The Turkey Day stuff is awesome, something I think MST3K fans will adore having. And a Servo figurine to go with my Crow will be awesome!
All in all, I think B Ward was right on when he said that we would be thrilled with the new set. |

This looks like the best set so far. I've liked all of SF's sets, but this one has a great mix of impressive episodes and special features (turkey day bumpers!!!), not to mention the Servo.
I'd be all for SF keeping up this pattern of two good, but more basic sets during the year, followed by a knock out, bang up set for the Holidays.
Nice work Shout Factory. Keep them coming. I promise I'll keep buying them. |

Member since: 1/24/2008 | | RE: Re: Volume XVI Predictions | Im guessing Warrior was the priciest one to get the licensing for and the others are PD. The Servo figure I am easily getting, its a no brainer. Not bad for a set with no Season 3 or highly wanted SY FY titles Id say. Im usually pleased with sets and there are only a few shows I did not like but they are on DVD already except for one. Im glad SF is releasing Season 1 since it gives us more titles to have on DVD. If SF werent able to get the green light on Season 1, it would limit the choices that Brian would have. There was a time that Season 1 was a no-no. but I now I expect titles like Robot Monster, Robot Holocaust, Slime People & dare I say The Crawling Eye to all wind up on DVD if Brian cant obtain the remaining Season 2 episodes or anything in Season 3..

I mean, any episode is great, but those are a couple of my faves from that season (since Aztec Mummy and Mad Monster have already been given the SF treatment quite nicely).
Season 3 I think is that untapped frontier for the DVDs as we have only a few episodes from that whole season. I'm sure B Ward has considered that already, but SF just hasn't cracked the code on some of the episodes yet.
As for Mike stuff, aside from early Season 8 (as we all know those would be miracles), finishing out Season 9 and 10 would be awesome. Even more awesome would be finishing Season 7. Brute Man and Deathstalker are begging to be released!
I will never complain about a new MST3K set, and SF has exceeded expectations. They care about the show and putting out a good product. We're all pretty grateful I think... |

I'm not sure what lengths they went through to get these titles, but this has some true fan favorites! Warrior of the Lost World is in my top ten all time episodes!!! And Santa Claus and Night of the Blood Beast are both great episodes! The Corpse Vanishes is a really good Season 1 episode, and yes, I'm one of the few that actually loves Season 1. And I can't say enough about the Extras on this set... and a Tom Servo figurine to boot! WOW! I think Shout Factory have done a fantastic job since acquiring the license. I'm not sure how many nickels they've dropped on getting rights and what-not, but they have consistently released awesome episodes. My only complaint is its Dec. 1st release date! Can't wait for this one!
When the complainers come knocking, I wouldn't listen to any of it... This is an amazing and balanced set, and they're going to buy whatever is released because even bad MST3k (not that there is any IMO) is better than good anything else. Thanks for such a great job on the new set, SF! |

Member since: 6/22/2008 | | RE: Re: Volume XVI Predictions | I'm in agreement with the last few posters here, this set is far and away SF's best coming out so far! I certainly wasn't expecting Warrior of the Lost World, and I thought Night of the Blood Beast was going to be a tough title to acquire as well (it sounds like it was PD). Having Santa Claus come out for the holidays is well-timed, and The Corpse Vanishes is a decent Season 1 ep that was ready for DVD release. The extras on here sound great, too, especially the ones involving Santa Claus. David Worth seemed to have a dry sense of humor at the '94 Convention, so his interview should be interesting as well. And the Servo figure is the cherry on top!
Brian, you and Jordan Fields deserve a great deal of congrats on this. I know it exceeded my expectations immensely!! |

Its funny how we have 501 and 105 on this set. Every episode has a one in the # thats funny too.
It wouldnt surprise me to see The Brute Man # 702 come out sooner than later. There are 10 Season 5 episodes left to get and I think the Mike ones might be the hardest to get in Season 5 as Opertion 007..
The early Season 1's should be easy to get as well. Season 2 Rocket Attack USA might be an easy one to get. Season 3 is a mystery to me as far as non Gamera or AIP titles. I think Fu Manchu and Stranded in Space could be the easiest of them all to get.
Season 4 I think there are a lot of potential releases as well as Season 6..
Season 8 I can see 817-819, Season 9 might be a hard season for whats left and Season 10 I can see Dr. Z and Moonbeast, the others might be wishful thinking still...
