Showtime had a slew of series that ran for a decent run, but once they were gone, they were GONE. LINC'S was FRANK'S PLACE with profanity; BEGGARS AND CHOOSERS was like LARRY SANDERS, about the backstabbing at network TV; RUDE AWAKENING starred Sherilyn Fenn as a washed-up actress trying to stay straight; and SHERMAN OAKS was ahead of its time, as a family living in wealthy California have their daily live documented. All these shows deserve to have some kind of a decent re-release--SHERMAN OAKS is so prescient in it's prediction of reality tv, that it could be the selling point! BROTHERS was the show that started it all, a sitcom from the early 80's about a blue-collar family trying to deal with having a gay sibling. Dated, but a very interesting curio about a very different time. |
