WKRP IN CINCINATTI and BATMAN (THE 60'S SERIES)

I know someone posted about WKRP before; but it seems like Shout has been rescuing alot of stalled series lately, and this particular show seems SO perfect for Shout, who would take the care to put it out THE RIGHT WAY, that I hope by re-igniting the fuse, it'll take off this time. Maybe Shout can put out the show in special, limited editions that cost a little more, ala Rhino Handmade, and that way the diehards would pay enough to justify the music costs. Just a thought.  This show is central to alot of people's nostalgia--and it's not JUST nostalgia that makes the show great--it's witty and intelligent and HIP. It's as good a workplace comedy as MARY TYLER MOORE or NEWSRADIO or any other show in the same vein, and it would be such a shame if this show was never seen as originally intended, but only in a butchered form, cut in such a way as to be actually intrusive to the storyline (Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer, anyone?).....

BATMAN just needs to get back out there already; why is this show NOT on DVD--of all the shows that have been released from the past--HAZEL?!--this is the epitome of a CULT show. I don't understand what the hold-up is....Shout, this is another show that's a MAJOR part of POP CULTURE HISTORY, and while Adam West is still with us (hopefully for a long time to come....) it should see the light of day with a deluxe edition. I KNOW I'm not alone on this one......

If the studio that produced the tv show Batman can't get the proper DVD rights, there is no way Shout! can.

RE: WKRP IN CINCINATTI and BATMAN (THE 60'S SERIES)
Regarding WKRP, there is simply no way they could EVER justify the cost of acquiring licensing on ALL the music that they used in the original series.  Insanely cost prohibitive would describe it.  The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Ray Charles, Carl Perkins, The Eagles.... the list is staggering.  As for the retail release of the so called 'complete' first season --- it is a pathetic attempt by CBS to make some money off of the syndicated-edits and even MORE-edited-than-syndication versions of the episodes that they released.  A truly sad end to a truly amazing show.

And there does seem to be some difficulty in getting the re-release rights to the 1966 Batman series as well.  I'm sure that the company that produced it originally (Fox, I think), and DC Comics, and the estate of Bob Kane, and DC's parent company Warner Bros/Time Warner are going to continually bicker over who exactly has the rights to this show, along with the actors, producers and writers, and the guest stars and their estates.  Unfortunately, I don't know if we'll ever see a commercial DVD release of this classic camp.
