Bump In The Night (Is there any hope!?)
Recently I have been buying DVDs of animated shows that I like.(Mainly because I got my first job about a year ago and now have mony :)   I used to watch Bump In The Night and would tell my younger brother about it who was to little at the time to remember it. He found some episodes on You Tube and I watched it with him. I had forgoten how great it was and now that I have seen it I "gotta have it!" So I went on amazon to see if I could find the box set to buy for myself and my cousin's. I was sad to find that only a few episodes and the christmas special were on DVD. I still bought these ones and enjoyed them vary much. I saw on one of the previous posts on this website that the complete series was put on hold. Can somone tell me if there is any hope of this show being released soon?

RE: Bump In The Night (Is there any hope!?)
There's, honestly, little to no hope.  From what we can gather, we'd sell very few of these sets to justify the series' release.  Unfortunately, the numbers on the VHSes and DVDs that were released don't give us enough faith to spend the money necessary, at this time.

I'll never say "never."  I've been surprised in the past.  But we have explored a lot of options with Bump In The Night and have found little in terms of positive predicted outcomes.

RE: Bump In The Night (Is there any hope!?)

I'm sorry to hear that. This and the two sonic series( that I am vary grateful to have on DVD) Sonic The Hedgehog and Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog were my favorite shows as a child. I really thought Bump In The Night would do well. The dialogue and voice acting was better than a lot of other animated shows I can think of. It was also stop motion animation which is uncommon for a TV series, the only others I can think of are Gumby, Robot Chicken, and Creature Comforts(I think thats what it was called.) I realize that this is only my opinion and my taste does tend to be in the minority but I still think this was one of the best animated shows ever made. Anyway thank you for your response Brian and I hope this series will have better luck in the future.

But it was only a 26-episode show, much like another DiC show that you gust released in SATAM. How can it not do well on DVD then?

Ummm, perhaps because people buy Sonic but they don't buy Bump?  Hate to be that blunt about it, but that's exactly what the situation is!

OK so maybe Bump In The Night wouldn't sell good on DVD at this time. So how about making it available for download? They have already done this with many shows that are now available on amazon and on the PS3 PlayStation network. This would remove production cost of the DVDs and shipping cost, and I don't mean just Bump In The Night this would work for many series that would not sell good on DVD such as Street Sharks, Mutant League, Samurai Pizza Cats, etc. I think up to about five dollars an episode would be reasonable ( especially with how over priced some Anime is.) Its just a suggestion but at least this way the fans of the series would have access to it even if the majority doesn't want it.

RE: Bump In The Night (Is there any hope!?)

I have to agree with RedMetalSky on this, Bump in the Night was an awesome show and a huge part of My daughters childhood (tho I watched it with her all the time ;-) ), well not My daughter is 18 and is about to have a child of her own. Not only would I love to have the Bump in the Night set for Myself, but she would like a copy of the set for herself and to share with son.

So I can understand if your marketing dept say it wouldn't be profitable to release a DVD set of the series but it would be sweet to at least make the small investment of the disk space to make it available for download to the true fans of the short lived series.

Thx

I feel for you, Curt.  It really was a great show.  Unfortunately, we don't have digital rights to Bump In The Night.

I did not realize how complicated this is. I thought that once you had the rights to distribute something you could choose however you want to release it. I don’t know why the company that created it didn’t release it online. The show is finished so this is the only way to make money off it. I apologize for complaining so much Brian, but I really want to see this series again.
