Might Shout! consider acquiring Remember WENN from AMC?
I know that there are a core of very dedicated fans of this emmy-award winning series from American Movie Classics in 1996-1998.  And I also know that the creator, Rupert Holmes, loved this show so much that he has been working on a Broadway musical version for years.  So, Brian, et al., I am curious as to whether you think this might be a viable retail DVD.  I have a complete set that I recorded from original broadcast, and put on to DVD, and I even made myself a small 'special features' disc (commercials, 'next-time-on's, and short documentary promos) to make myself content.  I would rather, however, be content with a real retail release with interviews, featurettes, commentary tracks, etc.  I truly believe that this was the best television ever made (MY opinion, nothing else!), and would really like to see the rest of the public get a chance to see this terrific cult classic.

I'll guess that's a 'no' then....

It's not so much a "no" as it is a lack of visiting the forum for a while.  I've been SLAMMED.  But that's a good thing, in my book.  Too much time spent for the forums doesn't exactly make me invaluable.

Still, your question deserves an answer.  We've never looked into the series before.  But I have passed it along to our acquisitions guys to look into.  Maybe you'll see it sooner, rather than later.

Fingers crossed.

I got the impression that you might be a bit busy, after I noticed that you hadn't posted ANYTHING for a couple of weeks!  Thanks for the info, Brian, and believe me, I understand busy.  Much rather you were busy releasing and creating all these awesome sets!   Yay!

I must admit, as well, that I would LOVE to be a contractor for you to to work on putting this together, if it ever happens.  Keep me in mind.  Seriously.

Brian, et al at Shout!  I believe I have found contact information for the producer of Remember WENN, Howard Meltzer.  Feel free to contact me by email at repeatshistory @ yahoo . com minus the spaces.

Brian, Garson, etc.,

Anything at all on this as a possibility?  Just curious, and happened to have a minute to ask.  Later!

It's been passed on to our acquisitions folks.  Honestly, not sure where it went from there.  They're a good crew and have done a great job researching and getting stuff for us in the past.  But I rarely question their speed or methods.  Those cats are crazy!

Oh, wow! I'd almost forgotten about "Remember WENN." I didn't get to see many of the later episodes, but I certainly enjoyed the early ones and thought it was a very well-made series. Definitely a show I would purchase on DVD. :)

Thanks for the answer, Brian!  I agree.  I'm not one to question speed or methods, but I was just curious if you'd heard anything yet.  In this case, a 'no news' is a perfectly acceptable answer!  And let them know that I have dropped a note to series creator Rupert Holmes, and have an address for Howard Meltzer/Turtleback Productions if they need it!  Thanks!

Michael, drop me an email if my mail is listed in my profile.  If not, catch me on sitcomsonline.com or savagetradersonline.com and you can send me a PM!  I have every single epidsode of this amazing series.  But again, I am truly hoping Shout! can make something happen with this on a retail level, because I want all the episodes in pristine condition, with commentary, and special features and documentaries and interviews....

And I want the series even without extras, commentaries, etc.

The problem with this series is that AMC is sitting on it...refusing to let Holmes and/or Meltzer get it out on DVD.  I have sometimes thought the only way to get anywhere with it is to buy enough stock in the parent company and ask at a stock holder's meeting why they refuse to allow it to be sub licensed and make money for the company I am holding stock in if they refuse to release it themselves.

I obviously have too much time on my hands.
