As for when, we're not sure. It is true that we have to wait and see how well volume two does, but I'm not too worried. if I've learned anything by the DVDs I've produced at Shout! Factory, it's how well the fans respond to Sonic and Super Mario Bros. Still, we even like to separate releases by a minimum of six months to allow sales to remain steady and exclusive to the current sets. So if it does well, you can look for the third volume sometime mid-late '09, hopefully.

How are the sales doing for Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Volume 2?

Also I have some suggestions for bonus features on the final Sonic Set:
1. How to draw Tails of course and the badniks
2. A brief history of Sonic the Hedgehog 18 Years into the making
3. Interview with one of the writers of the show.
4. DIC concept art
5. Never before seen material
6. Bloopers (if there are any)
7. The 4 part emerald saga as a full length movie on a special disk
8. AoStH television commericials (if they are easy to find)
9. Commentary
and thats just half the stuff that should be added to the last set or at least some ideas.
anyone else got any ideas?

Thank you for the bit of information regarding the possibility of Volume 3. I did have some concerns when it took over a year for Volume 2 to make it to the store shelves, but I suppose that makes sense considering you also were releasing in parallel the Sonic Underground DVD collections too.
Segasonic made some very good suggestions for bonus content, however I don't know if such suggestions would be cost effective. I would however like to make a suggestion that should hopefully be very easy to do and require only programming time as an investment. Can you please give us (the viewer) the ability to skip right to the DVD menu, instead of being forced to watch a truncated version of the sonic opening?
My only "dream" bonus content would be to see the Adventures of Sonic pilot, which has been mentioned before as something that won't surface due to legal reasons. If the legal reasons are a result of the voice actor, i'd settle for a new dub by the "current" Dr. Robotnic. Just throwing it out there, but as long as volume 3 makes it, I'll be happy, even if its a barebones disc.
Awhile back, someone mentioned that Shout would release Sonic The Hedgehog - The Movie. Had those rumors been put to rest or nixed?

Member since: 4/16/2007 | | RE: When will Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Vol. 3 get released? | I don't think it would be hard for shout to release Vol.3 seeing as they have already have the right/permission to do so prior to Disney obtaining the permission to broadcast the series, so the only thing that can stop is the lack of sales, but on the other hand there is the possiblity for Disney to ask Shout Factory a cease and disist on publishing the dvd so they (disney) could put out their own dvds. Yet seeing that Shout has already published the first 2 volumes what is the point of stopping them.
Brian: its a wensday actually, it would be interesting if you guys would pull it off to have this released on the day of the Dreamcast's 10th anniversary. it be a hoot.

I have never seen the movie, but I thought there were rumors of a special 2 disc edition being released by shout. I would like to obtain it for completest sake, but its rather expensive from Amazon.com, through 3rd party sellers, plus I'd rather give Shout my money. |

That's probably just a false rumor that I only read on Wikipedia. It even said that Boomerang is gonna air it. It's not gonna happen.
As for the third volume, I'm sure they'll release it. After 2 volumes, the third one should come good. |

The American dub (at least the DVD, I haven't watched my VHS copy in years) is the full version. The way you can tell is that the edited version has a few scenes removed. One of these scenes is Sonic giving Metal Robotnik the middle finger while the other is a scene where Tails grabs Sara's breasts then Knuckles replies "Tails, you should be ashamed of yourself".
I believe the edited version made an appearance in Europe and on VHS in the US during the first release (if I remember correctly there were two VHS releases in the US both from ADV films). Anyway this is basically what some of the differences in the edited version are (I'm just not positive what release they correspond with).
If I may throw a suggestion into the hat for the bonus features for AOSTH Vol 3, might I suggest (and bring up again) including an interview with Yuji Naka. Over the past couple of months a few articles and interviews (as well as video interviews) have been conducted with Yuji Naka. Every time he had a question brought up about Sonic (one interview pretty much revolved around Sonic).
Now the reason I bring this up is that I was questioned last time about why would he want to talk about an IP he left. Well he revealed that he mentioned that he gets asked about Sonic all the time and so he's used to it by now. He doesn't have and harsh feelings towards Sonic Team (unlike other previous people who left) he just wanted to stretch his legs (and creativity). Sega pretty much limits what Sonic Team can do and Yuji Naka wanted to do more (thus he left and created Prope). Then of course there's the fact that he also introduced the Sonic 1 melody (ending theme) at the Video Games Live recently.
