With all due respect.....a screed

At the risk of angering anyone at the Shout Factory company, I need to vent a little spleen here. I understand you're responding to requests by putting things like Mr. Belvedere and Malcolm and Eddie back in circulation. But make no mistake--these shows are TERRIBLE. They are pure JUNK. At least with Father Knows Best, there's a bit of history there, but why revive lousy sitcoms and give them such stellar treatment they don't deserve? There are other shows that need to be rediscovered--why not Frank's Place, or Madame's Place, or any OTHER place....okay, there are girls who grew up identifying with Punky Brewster and Blossom; there are boys who woke up to watch Inspector Gadget and Super Mario Bros....but why are you interested in being a repository for stuff that should be left to the dustbin? I know it's subjective (if only in the sense that some people ENJOY these shows...) but objectively, these shows (even if you DO ENJOY THEM) are pretty crappy in quality.

Besides which, I paid 100 bucks for The Paper Chase, and NOW you put out an OFFICIAL VERSION??!! Where were you a few years back? Prepping All-American Girl???

That said, I hope if I throw some suggestions out there in the future (and not ridiculous ones--where's the need for an official release of PEPPER DENNIS????) you won't reflexively dismiss it, 'cos I was so critical. I still love what Shout Factory does, but if the mission statement is to pay respect to the best of pop culture, why waste the energy with such vacous fare?

RE: With all due respect.....a screed
Each to his own opinion, Nerdy. To you Mr. Belvedere is terrible. That doesn't mean it is just because YOU think so. And please, don't make it try to make seem like it's an "objective" opinion because it's not. It's subjective just like everyone else's. How's this for a subjective opinion? I think Mr. Belvedere deserves to be on DVD. All six seasons of it, and I thank Shout Factory wholeheartedly for making this possible. Apparently, enough people have the opinion that this show is good enough to be on DVD, and now it is coming out. I'm just thankful that the opinion against it, like yours, hasn't been overwhelming to the point that Shout had to junk the idea of releasing it. So once again, THANK YOU to Shout for releasing Mr. Belvedere on DVD!
