Anymore 80s toons going to be released by Shout in the near future?
This is directed to a Brian or another Shout rep...I've noticed no announcements lately on the 1980s animated front.  Is there anything on the agenda in the future concerning releasing more toons from the 80s?

There are some things that are possibly on the horizon.  We're taking a long, hard look at what we think would be popular with fans and trying to schedule stuff appropriately.

I'll try to keep you guys informed.

Support those on hard times with a special SATAM DVD
I wasn't quite sure were to post this and didn't think it was worth a new thread.

Anyway while looking ahead towards some great DVD sets, that I'm sure Shout will deliver on, why not also look back on what they've already put out.  One of Shouts most most anticipated sets makes a big return that I'm sure fans will love (as well as helping out those on hard times).  On ebay an auction for a SATAM dvd is up for auction and is autographed by Ben Hurst and Pat Allee (how much better can it get than that).

Well there's a catch to this auction that I'm sure nobody will disapprove of.  From TSSZNEWS  "The proceeds toward the sale will go toward a Sonic fan who has fallen on hard times.  Chief, the administrator of the Fans United for SatAM message boards, was laid off recently–one of millions caught up in the global economic downturn.  Chief presently has no job, and has a daughter to support."

So not only would you be getting a once in a life time opportunity to own such a set, but you will be helping out the Sonic fans who made the set possible.  Brian appeared many times on the FUS leading up to the sets release getting information that was included in the bonus features and made the set that much better, I actually took part i some of those disscusions (In fact on the back of the set it thanks FUS "Fans United for SATAM").

Here's the direct link to the aucton page http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170286744444

Nice that they are raising money for a good cause, but Sonic is a 90s toon and there are a couple dozen Sonic threads already in here that this could have gone under instead...

Sorry...  I was doing a couple of things at the time of the posting so just picked the newest thread.  Also my laptop was acting up, so I was getting many pop ups (due to a unremovable spyware).  So I was trying to post this as quickly as possibly as well.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

I think cartoon shows based on video games would do well like

Dragon's Lair (which has aired in repeats on cable),

Saturday Supercade,

and Pole Position (released in UK on DVD, not sure if this was meant to be inspired by the video game or not, but love the theme music).

Pac Man's cartoon also would be nice to see on DVD.  I'm guessing WB owns the rights to Pac Man.  I'm not sure if Thundarr and The Pirates of Dark Water(early 90s show) fall under WB as well, but those are two great shows.

I was a fan of DIC's Kissyfur:

It would also be nice if somebody could get those Marvel cartoons (or even the Disney Afternoon cartoons to finish) off of Disney.   I know BCI released Dungeons & Dragons which is owned by Disney.

Hey Brian any chance that Starcom, Wing Commander Academy or Pole Position would be on that list of Future releases?

Unfortunately, no.  At this sad point in the economy, we can't afford to invest in series we're not 100% sure will have a healthy life on DVD.  While, I enjoyed Pole Position as a kid, I just don't know if we'd sell enough of any of the three titles to warrant their release.  That's as of now, mind you.  Once people start buying DVDs and CDs again, we can certainly look closer at the properties.

On the other hand... the economic downturn could also mean people are staying in more and subsequently watching dvds. A tinge of nostalgia might be sinking in too.

Anyway I agree with the PacMan suggestion, though I heard the relevant studio already has that in it's pipeline.

I get where you're coming from Brian. I loved Pole Position as well as a kid and even now. I imported the complete Region 2 DVD from Europe. I will keep my fingers crossed for any of these to come state side. Thanks for keeping us in the loop Brian. I hope that Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors Volume 2 will be coming out some time this year I would love to complete that series for my collection. I picked up Adventures of Sonic 2 and love it. I cant wait for Volume 3. Keep up the good work Brian.

You can watch all of Season 1 of Pac-Man on Xbox Live. I cant wait to get that on DVD as well.

Warner Bros should be the rights owner for Thundarr and The Pirates of Dark Water since they merged Hanna Barbera cartoons with their company.

Have you ever looked into any of the other ones I mentioned in my third post?

Speaking of Pac-Man Season 1, what's the release date for the dvd set?

I wonder if WB would be willing to sell off some of the toons they might own like Pac-Man, Thundarr, Challenge of the Gobots, The Pirates of Dark Water, and Snorks.  WB seems to be focused in on the classics like Scooby Doo and the Jetsons that I wonder if they might deal some of their others off for a fair price.
