Member since: 2/10/2007 | | AOSTH the Final Volume (Suggestion) | Since there's been a suggestion for a change in the art work (with a photoshopped image used as an example) I thought I'd suggest something extra wise. I thought what would make the final Sonic Volume (and last to be released to complete the DIC cartoon series) great would to have Sonic's father talk about the progression of Sonic (and maybe some insights on why he left Sonic Team). Although it is mostly know why Yuji Naka left, but to hear him talk about his career and desiscion to leave Sonic Team and start Prope would be something (I gaurantee) Sonic Fans would love to hear him talk about (not only that but I'm sure there are some fans that will find what he has to say inspiring).
Then for more fun there could be an interview with Naoto Ohshima, the one who actually created Sonic (Yuji Naka was just the head programer). I (as well as the rest of the Sonic community) would love to hear about the progression of Sonic's design. All the way from NeedleMouse to Sonic and Madonna, as well as originally designing Robotnik to look like Teddy Roosevelt in pajamas. Then finaly ending with the final concept used for the first Sonic game.
In case you are wondering what I'm talking about here's some of the original concept sketches, drawings, and renders (most of these were used in an in house design contest to come up with a new video game character).

This one focuses on Sonic, a thing to note is that this design was created before it was decided to call Sonic Sonic. He was just known as Hedgehog (This must have been done after it was decided not to call him Needle Mouse).

I own these shows from Shout Factory:
Sonic the Hedgehog the complete series,
Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog season 1,
Sonic Underground seasons 1 and 2,
Mario Bros. 3 the complete series, Super Mario Bros. Super Show Seasons 1 and 2 |

Member since: 2/10/2007 | | RE: AOSTH the Final Volume (Suggestion) | That's why it would be so interesting. Usually the best interviews aren't the ones that give ultimate praise from the person being interviewed. Knowing Yuji Naka's history, having left Sonic Team due to employment rates in Japan, would give us a chance to see a critical view of Sonic from the good and bad perspectives (and I can assume that if interviewed he would give his insight to things we might have missed, and keep things away from the really negative that are being said by reviewers and other gamers).
He left Sonic because other programmers were being paid more than him, even though he'd worked there the longest. This was due to the way big corporations pay their employees, based on education not experience.
Though as for Naoto Ohshima, what better way to hear about Sonic than from the person who designed him. Naoto Ohshima isn't as well known as Yuji Naka, so this would be a great chance for him to tell us about his work and designs that went into the series. After all when was the last time you heard an interview or even an article related to Naoto Ohshima. The last thing I remember hearing about him was his involvement with Blix the Time Sweeper, and Blinx 2.
Again both Naoto Ohshima and Yuji Naka left Sonic Team, Naoto Ohshima went to another developer while Yuji Naka created PROPE which develops for Sega. So there still might to be a chance to interview Yuji Naka since he still works in some relation to Sega, just for his newly created company PROPE.
Of course if you get right down to it, as the old saying goes, anyone will do anything if paid enough. I'm not suggesting a bribe I'm just saying that if givin the right incentive we might just get that interview.
