ABOUT
In the early 1970s, glam rock band Slade dominated the British charts with 17 Top 20 hits, including six at #1. They also took time to make the rock film Flame, in which they portrayed a British rock band's exhilirating rise to the top, and the deceit, disillusionment, and dispair that followed. It remains one of the most compelling portrayals of the music business ever filmed.
While their star didn’t soar as high in the States, the band wasn’t completely overlooked. Covers of “Cum On Feel The Noize” and “Mama Weer All Crazee Now” by ’80s rock band Quiet Riot brought Slade renewed interest. Other bands followed suit with covers by groups as disparate as Oasis, The Runaways and The Wonderstuff. Still active, Slade is ripe for discovery by rock fans of all ages.
