ABOUT
An alcoholic soccer coach, a mother who swears at parent/teacher conferences, an eight-year-old who makes art films and documentaries in his basement... this is Home Movies, an animated half-hour cult-hit comedy. It also features divorce, rabies, bullies, crushes, adults who act like kids, kids who talk like adults and a metal-head teenager who plays banjo.
Home Movies spotlights third grader Brendon Small, a young filmmaker who writes, acts, directs and “co-executive produces” his "groundbreaking early work” along with his friends Melissa and Jason. The show also features Coach McGuirk, a youth soccer coach who hates soccer and isn’t all that crazy about youths. He’s a binge drinker, a big talker and, as far as he’s concerned, a perfect male role model for Brendon.
Created by the same animation studio as Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, Home Movies premiered on UPN in 1999, lasting only five episodes. Luckily, the series was revived by Cartoon Network and became a fixture of their Adult Swim programming block, running for four seasons.
