When your parents are the owners of a chain of fitness centers, the last thing you want to be is overweight. As luck would have it, this is exactly what happened to Willamena Rader (Nikki Blonsky, Hairspray). After being sent away to fat camp, “Will” and her new group of cohorts have to learn to not only deal with their own body issues, but how to deal with one another.
Will quickly finds a close friend in Becca (Raven Goodwin) who is a shy bookworm, and a foe in Amber (Hayley Hasslehoff) who is the thinnest person at the camp, but still struggles with her weight. Based author Sasha Paley's book of the same name, Huge did not dwell on the theme of weight, but instead on the relationships and personalities of the characters.
Though the show only ran for one season, it consistently scored good ratings for ABC Family.
