ABOUT
A groundbreaking and controversial series, All In The Family was never a show afraid of it’s audience. Centered around the “loveable bigot,” Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor), the show was one of the first to tackle issues such as racism, rape, homosexuality, abortion, and cancer. Along with The Bill Cosby Show and American Idol, All In The Family is among the only shows to consecutively lead yearly rankings for 5 seasons in a row.
Archie’s family is rounded out by his wife Edith (Jean Stapleton) who is a sweet and gentle woman who, despite their differences, loves her husband. Their daughter Gloria (Sally Struthers) is a college student married to Michael (Rob Reiner), a character who provides a large deal of opposition to Archie and his beliefs.
Originally airing from 1971-1979, the show then was rebranded as Archie Bunker's Place where it lasted another four years before it ended it’s run in 1983. |
