Nearly 10 years older, and 10 years wiser, Sergeant Joe Friday (Jack Webb) returns to the force in the reboot of the classic TV and radio series, Dragnet. Assigned to his new partner, Officer Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan, M*A*S*H), the duo tackles hot issues such as juvenile delinquency and drug abuse and takes a deeper interest in the relations of the police within the community.
Originally running from 1967-1970, this run of the series lasted four seasons before Jack Webb took it off the air to focus on the spin-off show Adam-12. The first series of Dragnet to be broadcast in color, it enjoyed good ratings for all four years of it’s run on NBC.
Though Dragnet was reborn twice more (in 1989 and 2003), this series was the last one that Jack Webb was a part of due to his tragic passing in 1982. With episodes pulled directly from real-life L.A.P.D. cases, Sgt. Friday and Officer Gannon laid the blueprints for countless police dramas that have surfaced since.
